Zara was talking scarletts ear off. she was so excited about going home with us for a while and riding on a dragon. she hadn't stopped talking since Scarlett had entered her room. sky sat on a chair looking around with a stoic look on her face. Scarlett was having a hard time reading her expression. " oh my Goddess I'm so excited! my first trip! I can not wait to see your kingdom and spend time there! are there any cute men there?"
Scarlett giggled. she had never really spent time with any of them. she only ever spent time with Liam. ever since she was four it was just the two of them. he had always just been there. " honestly, Zara, I don't really know. ever since we were four Liam and I just hung out with each other. it was just the two of us all the time. poor guy now we are mated and he never gets a moment of peace." Zara giggled.
" I'm so glad he had you. things were different after he was taken. mom and dad tried hard but their hearts were shattered and that's when they tightened their grip on us. having Liam gone was like having a piece of me gone. we never even slept in our own rooms until that night. I had to learn to live without him. but I still felt him. in my heart I could feel him. it was a strange feeling to have all my life."
Scarlett couldn't help but notice sky was getting angrier. her face was frowning as Scarlett talked. " so you are saying you hogged all of Liams time then forced him to mate you? don't you think he might have wanted to explore other options?" sky couldn't hide her feelings any longer. she realized what she what she had said and how she said it and took control of herself quickly. " sorry I had a rough day. I'm not trying to be rude. it's incredibly romantic the way you two followed each other around like puppy dogs." Scarlett eyed her cautiously. Zara was confused at her friend's out burst. In all the time that Zara had known her she had never known Sky to have outbursts.
" ummm yeah. incredibly romantic. I'm sorry about your day. did you want to talk about it?" scarlett was trying to figure sky out. Something was nagging at her.
" no its just training stuff. I just wanted to be further than I am and I work so hard." Scarlett and Zara accepted that answer and went about their business not noticing the anger sky was hiding.
" ok Scarlett I am all packed! I will have one of the servants come and grab my bags. let's go eat before we leave. I am starving! come on sky let's go make sure some men are going to miss us!" the girls filtered out of the room and down to the dinning hall. Scarlett felt uneasy with sky. something had shifted with her. Liam was sitting at the table talking with his parents. when Scarlett entered her eyes went to Liam. she smiled at him as he stood quickly excusing himself from their conversation. he made his way to Scarlett. he gave his sister a quick hug and then went right to Scarlett placing his hand on her cheeks he pulled her in for a soft kiss.
" little rose bud I missed you." sky grunted behind them and walked away. " I really don't like her." he whispered to Scarlett.
" I was only helping your sister pack. sky isn't usually so moody. something is off with her today."
" I don't trust her. she tried coming on to me when you were out. I don't like her."
" she did? I'm sorry Liam. come on let's get something to eat I am starving. " he placed his hand on her stomach tenderly.
" how are you feeling? I figured we will announce it here before we leave, then, when we get back announce it there? I really think in person is best." Scarlett smiled as she kissed his lips.
" I fully agree. it's cute how excited you are. " Liam picked up her plate and started filling it with food for her. " Liam I can't eat all of that."
" you are carrying our baby. you need the energy." his hand was on the small of her back helping guide her to a seat. " eat up before I have to take you back to the room and eat you myself. " Scarlett turned bright red. she saw him smirking as he shrugged. he placed Scarlett next to his mother and sat opposite of her. Zara and sky came over and Scarlett could see him rolling his eyes. she placed her hand on his thigh. she continued to eat. sky sat next to Liam and Zara on the other side of her. Scarlett was feeling a little uneasy but pushed it aside. it was right then that her stomach decided to turn.
she turned quietly to Liam. " I will be right back."
" you ok baby?" there was a look of concern on Liams face.
" yes just nausea. I will be right back I promise. " she stood up making her way out of the dinning hall into the bathroom. she threw up everything she had tried to eat. she waited a few minutes until her stomach settled. after cleaning up she made her way back. as she was making her way back to the dinning hall she saw Liam jump out of his seat. he was angry and she could feel it inside her chest.
" don't touch me again!" he yelled at sky. she looked at him pale and her mouth had dropped open. Zara was looking between sky and Liam not sure what had happened. everyone was looking at Liam in confusion afraid to say anything. Scarlett pushed past everyone standing and came to Liams side placing her hands on his. she slowly brought his hands to her stomach and he instantly softened and smiled.
" what's wrong?" everyone watched as Scarlett soothed his beast calming his temper.
" she tried to touch me! she grabbed me under the table! I have told her several times I'm not interested and she keeps throwing herself at me." Scarlett had Liam take a deep breath to help calm him down. " I just didn't want you walking in on that causing you stress while you are carrying our baby." everyone gasped. no one said a word. the silence was thundering through the dinning hall.
Scarlett smiled at her mate. she looked around at everyone and saw his brother, sister and parents with their mouths open. Scarlett flung her hands up and yelled, " SURPRISE!" and everyone started talking all at once throwing out questions. she saw sky trying to inch her way out the door. " sky! hold on!" she watched as sky turned around to her. Scarlett cleared her throat. " don't ever touch my mate again or you won't live through it." Scarlett sat down as his parents came to her touching her belly and excitedly asking questions. Zara came over to Scarlett sorrow in her eyes.
" I'm so sorry about sky, Scarlett. I had no clue. if I would have known I would have never brought her around."
" Zara it's ok. I'm not mad at you for the choices another person makes. come on we have to get going if we are going to make it by tonight." Scarlett hugged Zara putting her mind at ease.
Scarlett hugged Liams parents and climbed onto the back of one of the warrior dragons. Zara was being fussed over and made promises to call them and then climbed onto a warriors back. Liam lingered with his parents a little longer trying to take everything about them in. then they were all up in the air and headed back home. Scarlett was glad that she was going home but she felt bad taking Liam from his family. guilt was eating her alive. night had fallen when the warriors made their way home. she could see her parents waiting by the palace for them as they landed sliding off the warrior before he shifted. Scarlett ran to her parents embracing them in a hug. "mom! dad! I missed you both so much!" she stepped back as Liam and Zara came beside her. Liam bowed his head and Zara followed. " Zara this is my parents Dante and Emilia. mom and dad this is Liams twin sister Zara. she will be here for a while and I can't wait to show her around!"
" welcome to our kingdom. please everyone let's get out of the cold." Emilia gestured towards the palace doors. everyone followed and the warriors brought their things in. " Come Zara lets get you to your room. you all must be starving. get ready and come down." after everyone was settled in they all started making their way to dinner.
scarletts stomach started grumbling. " man I am starving!" Liam chuckled as he leaned down placing his nose in the crook of her neck.
" my little rose bud gets what she wants. come on baby let's feed you."
" you two are impossibly disgusting in love." Zara came behind them laughing. " Come on I haven't eaten since earlier. show me the food." Zara placed her hand around scarletts arm pulling her towards the dinning hall. " everything is so beautiful here but so cold! how do you get warm?"
" well we are ice dragons but we have our ways of staying warm...." Scarlett giggled as Zara cut her off.
" nope never mind I don't want to know!" They were both laughing when the doors were pulled open and they were ushered to their seats. Scarlett had suddenly become nervous knowing they were going to announce the pregnancy.
she reached out for Liams hand. " it's alright." he kissed her head and pulled out her chair for her. taking in a deep breath Scarlett rose back up taking Liams hand.
he nodded to her as she cleared her throat. "we wanted to say thank you to everyone here who has come to celebrate our return. we have brought back Prince Liams twin sister princess Zara. she will be staying with is for a while. Before we start eating we just wanted to make a small announcement." Liam squeezed her hand letting her know he was there. " dad, mom, we are having a baby boy! he will be here in about a month." her parents gasped out in pure excitement. the entire dinning hall grew with noise as people went on about how excited they were. Scarlett kissed Liams lips and they sat back down for Scarlett to eat.
