Chapter Three: The Day I met Him

I’m wandering in the forest; I can’t remember why I’m lurking in the forest. I go to the forest to hunt and even train myself.

I have the urge to be a good fighter, I also felt I need that to protect myself and be a reliable Queen in the future.

I’m Princess Mia of Querencia Kingdom; my love for my Kingdom is undeniably strong. At a younger age, I can see my father King serves our Kingdom with all his strength and sacrifice a lot of himself to serve the needs of our citizens.

I’m so inspired by my father act as the King, I don’t know why I get lost recently I remember a while ago I’m indifferent World meeting a kind Lady. The Lady told me the place is Atracia City; I can’t forget when she tours me around the City. I’ve seen the beautiful thing that my Kingdom never had: cars for transportation, cellphone for communication, television, and radio for entertainment, high rises building.

My thoughts are filled with amazing things, I’m astounded. I tried to act that I’m not seeing it for the first time for the reason the Lady might think I’m different.

I like the Lady, she helps me when I’m lost in the City and become my guide. The Lady teaches me a lot to understand Atracia City.

The Lady showing me something when I suddenly hear a voice that seems familiar to me. I look around and walk seems like the voice is calling me. 

The Lady held my hand and asks me "where are you going Little Miss?" 

"I'll be going home". I said unconsciously

The Lady confuse and asks "Did you know your way?" 

I nod and answer "Yes, don't worry Lady. I'll be fine." I assure her.

The Lady gives me the bag in her hand where the other clothes she bought for me is there, she lends me my cloak "The clothes you wear is also in the bag" The Lady reminds me.

I keep hearing the familiar voice calling me and its getting louder, I quickly bid the Lady goodbye

 "See you again"

I walk and keep on walking and follow the familiar voice. I didn’t even realize I cross the Passage and I’m in the middle of nowhere in the darkest part of the forest; the Forbidden Forest of Querencia Kingdom.

I know this is the Forbidden Forest the protective shield that my ancestors created is here. I don’t know how come I enter the Forbidden Forest without me knowing.

I blink many times, I’m trying hard to remember how I ‘ am here; master Arruis “The Guardian of the Passage” strictly warns us that this place is restricted for us and my father King will be furious and punish us if we didn’t follow his command.

I hear night birds chirping but it doesn’t scare me. I move forward, I use my hands to lift the bushes that blocking my way.

I’ve heard from my grandmother's story that there is a monster lurking in this forest the reason it is forbidden.

I hold my chest and know that I’m not nervous but excited to know what are the things that my ancestors hiding for a long time.

I feel a slimy creature that grabs my ankle; I look around and wonder what it is.

I gasp as I lose my balance, my eyes widen as I see in my very eyes the monster that my grandma telling in her stories are real.

I’m shivering, I wanted to yell but as I plump down in the cold swamp I tried to find the dagger that I hid under my dress but my clothing is different now; I  wear tight pants. I remember I change the position of my dagger case and adjust it in the ankle when I change my clothes.  As fast as I quickly get the dagger and before the monster drags me into the pit hole. I manage to hit his neck by my dagger and slice the monster in the neck many times until it is not moving anymore. The monster's blood is slimy green and it is gross.

I’m afraid that the monster one by one will come out. I immediately get up and I wanted to get out here fast but I bump in a man.

The man has a wide shoulder; he is wearing a black cloak with a hood. I look at his eyes, it is dark and it’s hard to read what his thinking. His gaze is intimidating but I’ am not scared of him. I distance myself for I know a man that lives here in this dark part of the forest can’t be trusted.

“Who are you?” As I hold my dagger pointing to the man to protect myself.

“Princess I think you are lost, this part of the forest, you’re not supposed to be here,” The mysterious man said to me.

“Answer me, who are you?” I said with emphasizing tone.

The man didn’t answer; I can see his face despite his hood and black cloak.

The man is handsome nor does he look like a scary person. He looks like a normal citizen for me but I still need to raise my guard.

Then man's voice is booming, “You are lost, Princess?” he asked

My heart skips a beat when I hear his voice, “Princess, he knows I’ am one" my thoughts told me.

“Are you working in the palace?” I ask trying to be brave but my dagger is pointing towards him.

“I don’t but it seems your in the wrong side of the Forest, you must go back” The man voice is firm

“Are you commanding me?” I asked hurt, my ego is taking over me.

"I’ am not on the wrong side of the Forest, this is a part of our Kingdom, therefore, I can walk in here. No one can tell me I can’t” I gasp telling him.

“For a young Princess, your bold and brave” The man in the hood talk calmly.

I don’t care about what he is saying, I didn’t know why I end up in this part of the Forest and no stranger can talk to me in that manner.

“Who are you?” I ask him once again.

“Well I might say, this is the Forbidden Forest, where you can find all the vicious creatures here and that doesn’t except me.” The man stares at me waiting for my response.

“You’re a vicious creature? Do you have fangs or tails? Are you changing your form? Is that your true form? Are you pretending to look like a human?” I keep on asking.

The man laughs crisply as his sound awaken the night birds and they keep on chirping.

His laughs resonate in the entire forest, I don’t fear it. It amuses me that he laughs.

“What? Is there anything funny in what I say?” I ask once again.

“You hear too many stories from the elders, your mind starts to create a lot of imaginative things” The man spoke as if he is trying to make fun of my grandmother's bedtime stories.

“Are you mocking me?” I said as I raise my voice.

“No, Princess Mia, you’re an amazing young adventurous young royalty with a brilliant mind. Your braveness makes you outstanding. Why would I mock you?” The man stares at my eyes as if all his attention and focus was on me.

I fear he intentionally distracting my focus, I grip at my dagger tightly for no reason I feel my cheek is burning for the words he utter. I never heard praise in my life like the way he views me. I might be young but that flutters my heart.

“You know my name” my voice becomes soft asking him politely.

“Yes, my Princess. I know who you are” The man continues to talk to me as if his voice is a soothing lyrical hymn I heard from a cello.

“He calls me My Princess” my mind repeats the word to myself, I hold my chest, never I feel my heartbeat this way.

The man walks slowly to me and holds the dagger; he successfully gets the dagger in my hand. The man gets my hand and put the dagger in my palm, He came close to me and whisper in my ears as I feel the shivers “Keep that, it’s dangerous. You should go home, young Princess.”

I wake up in bushes where I lay in piled of dry leaves, I heard my twin Siana voice.

“Mia, Mia, Mia” Siana is shouting my name, hurriedly come by my side and hugs me tight.

“I’ve been worried about you the whole day” Siana hug is tight and she is shivering.

Siana is with Arruis and he seems to scan the whole place, he held his sword in his hand.

I quickly react, ‘Why do you hold your sword Arruis?” I ask.

Arruis didn’t look at me and continue to goes around the area, he seems like inspecting.

“I fear there might be an intruder in our Kingdom as the Guardian of the Passage I must protect this boundary of the Forest.” Arruis answers while going around, carrying his sword.

“There’s none, I do my usual activity and training. I get tired and didn’t notice I feel asleep.

“In the middle of the forest?” my twin Siana asks in disbelief.

“I get tired. I can’t help it.” I try to make a reason for them not to be suspicious.

Arruis stops going around the area, he stops in front of us.

“I have to take you home,” Arruis said.

My mother hugs me tightly as soon as we enter the palace, she is teary-eyed.

“I’m so worried about you Princess Mia” My mother exclaims.

I smile a little bit as I hug her “Don’t worry mother, I’m fine. I sleep in the forest because I get tired from training” I lied.

My mother loosens her hug and looks at my face “You can have your rest now” she lead me to my room and remind me if I need anything let her know through our servants.

I nod and smile “yes mother” I diligently answer.

I know I have to clean myself, take a bath and sleep but I can’t.

The whole day is a whirlwind of an experience, I can’t believe I been to other World and wake up in Forbidden Forest.

The Atracia City I heard about it from our ancestors' story, I never expected that is real and existed.

The World is very different than ours I never have seen such a place more advanced than ours.

In the other entire Kingdom, ours are the most advanced in terms of medicine and how our people live but after I have known Atracia City I have the eagerness to know how they made all those advances possible.

I know if I learn all those advanced innovations in their City, I might be able to share all the things I know with my fellow citizens in the Querencia Kingdom.

Also, one of the things that keep my mind occupied is the man I meet in the Forbidden Forest.

I don’t know but I can’t be scared of him or hate him.

The man wearing cloaked with a hood, his eyes are inviting me. The man's visual is still visible in my eyes.

I knew he is a scary person oddly but I'm not afraid of him, There is something about that man that pulled me in him.

The man in the forest, he is not there for no reason at all.

My mother and father don’t want us to be near in that part of the forest, prohibited to enter the Forbidden Forest. I and Siana grow up in following our parent's orders but now for I can't comprehend reasons I lied to my family.
