Chapter 5 For the next few days Neil worked closely with Dr. Turner in the veterinarian clinic, learning routines and procedures as well as treating patients. It was almost time for the winter herd to leave the island for the summer. Each horse needed to be given a thorough examination and their spring inoculations before they were ferried to the mainland. Neil also was assigned the task of teaching the new tour guides and others who handled horses what daily care included. The tour guides, horse taxi drivers, and others that drove service wagons were assigned a team of horses they would be partnered with all summer.
