CHAPTER 37

Cassian

The desert’s hot winds blow like a slap on the faces, yet I am pursuing them because we have to escape the town for safety. Zeus is looking for me, the heir of a wolf kingdom. I won’t be surprised if i see him coming from the sky and bang my head with his stupid weapon.

Of course, he is pissed and why wouldn’t he? He was jubilant after killing my father, he was happy when he shunned my mother from everything, and now when he got to know that the real king is alive, his unwanted ego must have hurt. Like a mad man, he is expanding his sources to get to me.

Sometimes I feel like I am doing nothing good for all of these people around me. They are ready to put themselves in danger for me, just because I am a child of a royal couple. If I was an ordinary child, I would have to climb all those mountains to reach this level, like Alarous. Now I understand why he looks so mature and patient. Time has healed his wounds but the scars are left to tell the story of his life.

“When will we reach the place? Where are we heading actually?” I asked them as all of them were silent since we started this journey.

“It is still miles away, don’t worry, we will reach there before dawn.” Uchias said after a long pause.

“Where are we heading? What is that place? Come one, at least you can tell me that…” I rolled my eyes..

“Be patient, Cassian. It must be a special place…” Katia said with calm.

I nodded my head and stayed silent further..

“Just like Katy said… that place is special indeed. We want you to have a look by yourself…” Alarous said while turning his head to me and then turning back to look ahead.

“Katy?” I asked with my eyebrows raised up and I heard a chuckle from all of them..

“Looks like the kid is jealous..” uchias was trying to make it funny but no.. it isn’t funny at all.

“Please.. Don’t think it other way, Cassian. We were just joking…” Katia explained to me but I was muttering under my breath.

“Look at his mug, all red with anger..” Uchias laughed and I was glaring at his back with shooting daggers. I wish I could just throw him over the horse and watch his face rubbing in the sand.

“So, we have reached the place.. I hope Cassian will love it…” Alarous pointed at the front and I scrunched my brows to look ahead of me.

For a while, I found nothing until I saw something, something huge, it seemed like a gateway but a huge one. I have never seen anything like that before.

“What is that?” Katia gasped loudly…

“The main entrance of Thesaurus… the kingdom of wolves…” Alarous smirked while his gaze was dug in the huge metallic gates.

“Looks like the gateway of heaven.. Long and huge.. I want to know how much time it took to install them?” I chuckled.

“Yeah.. it took a lot of time to build them but they are impermeable.” Uchias stated.

“Does anyone live here?” i asked..

“You have to see that by yourself..” Alarous replied and we demounted our horses.

The gates were rusty and heavy but i don’t think anyone lives here. What is the purpose of a kingless kingdom?

Suddenly, the gates opened and two guards appereded with dagger in their hands. They were wearing heavy clothes to cover their body and I gasped to see them. Uchias and Alarous talked to them and they let us pass. When I was about to cross the gates, both guards bowed to me and I felt awkward.

“What was that for?” I shrugged that feeling and followed others inside the huge place.

What it looked like was an abandoned village. The market place was like a ghost town and the broken windows of the houses looked terrifying.

“Why are the guards protecting an abandoned kingdom?” I asked Alarous to which he looked amused.

“Wait for the surprise, Cassian. You are going to be shocked…”

Now i am scared. Are they going to sacrifice us to Zeus or something else is cooking in their head. 

After crossing the village, I noticed a few more guards around another huge gate, which I think led to the royal castle and suddenly it struck my mind.

“You bring us to the royal castle?” I demanded an answer from them.

“Yes…” Walrus while gesturing to the guards to open the gates.

When the gates were opened, I saw the residents inside, accumulated near the gateway with carrying trays in their hands. One of them looked like a priest and approached me.

“Finally, our prayers are listened to. King Omar sent us our protector..” the priest said.

What the actually f**k is going here?

“What does he mean?” I asked Alarous who strayed silent on my question. Now i am getting pissed.

The maids of the royal castle showered petals on us when we got inside and I stopped near the huge staircase leading inside the castle. I crossed my arms and waited for them to notice. They noticed and looked at me in disbelief.

“Cassian? What are you doing? Let’s get inside..” Alarous said.

“I won’t.. Until you tell me what is going on? What are you hiding from me..?” I was getting angrier but tried keeping my calm.

“We can talk inside…” he insisted but I denied and stood rooted to the place.

In the end, he sighed and gae up..

“Cassian. We brought you here to keep you safe. Zeus will look and find you anywhere except this place.. he can’t get inside the kingdom of Thesaurus until invited. And here, your real training will begin…” he explained to me.

“Training? Aren't i getting trained for the fight?” I raised my suspicions.

He sighed and looked at Uchias, who nodded to him.

“Cassian, there is another reason for bringing you here..” he said.

“I knew it.. I was getting this all along but I thought my head was messing with me.. Now tell me what is it?” I was getting irritated by every passing second.

“I bring you here to train you… to become a KING!!!” he declared…

I laughed and said, “i knew it.. I knew there was something shady… wait!!” Suddenly I recalled what he just said.

“King?” i asked in disbelief..

He nodded and patted my shoulder..

“A king!! This Kingdom has waited for the true heir to take his place.. Now the time has come.. All we need is you…” he said with a confidence surfacing in his voice.

I stood dumbstruck and astonished at the same time. I had no idea what to say.. I never expected this and never thought about this even.

“I don’t know… i can’t be a king.. How can i become a king?” I was still trying to consummate all the things.

“You are born for this… to be a King!!” he said with a proud smile on his face.
