CHAPTER 36

Cassian

Heading back to the training ground, i saw Uchias and Alarous discussing seriously about something i wasn’ aware of. I heard a bit of their conversation and assumed that they must be talking about Zeus and his army. Did something happen when we were messing around?

I approached Alarous to inquire about the discussion he was having with his friend.

“Hey!! Is everything alright? You guys look serious about something?” I asked him.

I judged from his expression that he didn’t want to disclose anything in front of Uchias. He smiled a bit and said, “how was your day with Katia? I am sure you really enjoyed it…” there was a hint of amusement in his voice.

I got his point and played along with his game, “yeah!! Actually I did enjoy it and I have something to tell, can we have a private space to talk?” I insisted and he looked pale.

“Surah…” Alarous said and excused himself from Uchias.

Uchias left the place and went to do some of his chores. I dragged Alarous to a deserted cornered place to have a conversation with him.

“What is so wrong going on?” I asked him while reading his expressions.

“There is nothing.. You better focus on your training now. Since you have a girl around you to disturb you, I want you to give your best in this Training.. We need to work harder more, Cassian.” he instructed in a serious voice.

“Does this have to do anything with Zeus? Right?” I inquired from him and his face turned red in anger. I didn’t need any further explanation.

“Yeah.. it is about him, Cassian.” he said with a haftiness in his voice while signifying a deep tension in his mind.

“What’s the matter? Can you explain it to me?” I demanded an answer.

“It’s nothing important…” he tried to divert the topic…

“If it isn’t important then it mustn't have bothered you this much. Come one, Alarous, I have every right to know what’s going on…” i jabbed at him.

“Zeus is aware of your existence, Cassian. Uchias has his men scattered around the place and borders. They noticed Zeus’s men looking for you.” he said with a sigh.

I was stunned to hear this, “how did they find out about me?”

“Lycaon… his men tried to capture you in modern times, didn’t you?” Uchias suddenly joined us.

I turned to look at him, “yeah!! So what?” I asked him.

“Zeus’s personal messenger kept his eyes on Lycaon’s son when he went looking for you, but Asteus came empty handed from there. Aurth found him and killed him, and took the information to Zeus. the reason you ended here was Zeus’s tantrum, in rage, he overlapped the timezone which sucked you here.” he explained it further.

It felt like the earth slipped beneath my feet. The realisation was hard to consume yet it still dawned upon me. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I ran away. That's what I felt like doing. Running, to release anger, to release my fear, to release myself. The inner demon was screaming in my head. Telling me to burn everything in my way. 

My knees gave up in the middle of my run, and I cried for hours. Sometimes, when I think things are going to be better, my life laughs at me in the darkest corner and watches me ruin myself. I had enough of this running game, and I can't wait to burn this thunder god. So far, I could have let him go after what he did to my parents, my family and the community I belong to. 

For everything, there was a reason, it doesn’t justify the reason at all. No longer I have to keep this tie together because when I was born from the ashes of my father, it was written in my destiny to bring hell on earth.

Enough s**t i handled, this time, i will make my enemies bow down to me. I will become something they have never heard of.

When my heart felt light after releasing the anger, I went back to my hut and shut myself from the world. I need peace to calm myself. Peace is indeed the most expensive thing in the chaotic world. It’s not meant for everybody.

Then, there I heard a knock on the door of my small hut. From the sound of the footsteps, I knew who was there. So, I got up and opened the world for her.

“Hey!! Where were you? I was really worried.” she asked me with concern, it was shown on her face that she cared for me.

“I was just out for a while. I needed to clean my head..” I lied but I actually did that.

“How are you feeling now?” she sat beside me and asked.

“I really don’t know.. Everything is poisonous.. Don’t know what to trust, what to believe. My head hurts thinking about my life. Sometimes, I think I am purposeless in this world. To be honest, I am scared.” I was at the verge of a mental breakdown.

Katia held me tighter and kissed my forehead, “sometimes, it’s okay to be scared, Cassian. You are not meant to hide your emotions just because you carry this responsibility and these enormous power inside, you are still human from the inside” her response calmed me down. 

I looked at her with much care in my heart, i don’t think i deserve her. 

“What did I do to deserve you?” I asked with tears in my eyes.

“Hey!!! We can work this together…” she touched my forehead with her hands and hugged me.

“Yes, we can work this out togethe…” i nodded my head in agreement and we rushed outside to train ourselves.

There stood Alarous and Uchias, staring at us.

“So, shall we start?” he asked me.

“Start what?” i asked with furrowed brows

“You hand to hand combat training.. I guess it’s time to teach you everything you need to know and I have a special place for you to make you learn everything..” Uchias said with confidence.

I suspected something but it didn't look like he was joking at all.

“I am confused…” I said.

“don’t worry.. I will clear your confusion…” Alarous smirked as he brought horses for us.

“Looks like we are travelling…” Katia looked amused and I was stunned..

“Yeah.. looks like though….

We mounted our horses and our loads, and followed Uchias lead to an unknown place.
