CHAPTER 38

Cassian

“KING!!!” That was all I heard from every lip around me..

You can say that I was scared and I wanted to run away but my legs become weak and I can't even move though I wanted to..

Surrounded by all these strangers, I felt terrified. Not sure if I could trust them.

“They already trust you, Cassian!!” Alarous whispered in my ear and I was stunned for a while.

Thinking about what he just said, he was right though. These people have accepted me and my identity. They welcomed me even though they didn’t know me yet. Just my blood is enough to tell my story.

I don’t want this fame and status but do I have a choice now?

“Come inside, Cassian.. We have a ceremony in an hour.. “ Uchias commanded..

I looked sternly at him, just hated his guts to say that. Who is he to commande me like that. I will surely make him pay..

My gaze shifted to Katia, who looked equally stunned observing the royal castle. The intricate carved designs over the marble was such a beauty to the eyes. The sharp gold chandelier hanging from the ceiling caught my attention. Even the candle holders and small objects for decorations were made of gold. These royal bastards have a huge standard for golds and precious stones.

Finally, we came inside a room, actually a hall to be said, which was huge and I was glad to see just us there.

“Wow!! This place is so good. It feels like I am in a five starred hotel. The treatment is so fine… like I am a princess..” Katia was amused and couldn’t stop fascinating about this royal palace.

Alarus chuckled, “yeah… I remember this place used to be crowded.. Now it is just us, standing here.”

“I don’t get it…” I said while scrunching my brows.

“What?” everyone asked.

“I don’t get it all.. Why am I chosen to become a king? I have no idea how things work here and now this status of a king, I don't think I can handle.. All I wanted was to bring my mother back.. I don’t want to rule a place.. I have my own dreams…” i was frustrated and I took a seat of the huge sofa placed beside me.

“I know what you are feeling right now, but we don’t have a choice either. And we are here to train you to become a king. Do you think you can reach Olympus and ask Zeus to return the queen back to us?” Alarous tried explaining his point of view.

“Exactly, he is a god and a god will never tolerate a mere human stepped on his holy place, and apart from that, he won’t let it go without a fight. And there is no guarantee that we can win the battle alone.. We need an army, and armies are led by kings and emperors..” Uchias added his explanation.

I joined the clues bit by bit and it still makes no sense to me. However, whatever they said is absolutely right. I just don’t understand how to accept this reality.

“I accepted the fate when I was adopted by the Richard family, I even accepted when I discovered my powers. I accepted myself when Katia told me that she loves me for being me.. It is difficult to accept my new self, everytime.. Now king, later what? Replacing a god?” I sighed and pulled my hair in frustration.

“We don’t want to push you right away, Cassian. We have to save your mother, think about her.. We know nothing about how she is living there. Is she fed daily or they torture her? Anything is possible and it aches my heart when I think about it. And about you, you are an adult. I am sure you can take this as well… “ Alarous stated in a  serious voice.

“Yeah.. he is right.. We cannot afford to waste time. The queen needs you, Cassian. All these people have their faith in you because your father was a great man. They consider you a great person too.. Do you want to disappoint them?” Katia approached me and put her hands on my shoulder.

I nodded my head slightly in understatement. Like it or not, I have to take this responsibility.

“Fine.. I will take my position.. But please, don’t rush things. Right now, I just want to focus on myself. I have to control my powers as they are increasing rapidly.”

“Sure… you might need some rest.. We travelled the whole night and rest is important for mental health..” Alarous said and whistled from his mouth.

Three maidens entered the hall and bowed to us.

“These are royal maidens, and they will take you to your rooms. Anything beside you guys will need, just ask them..” he instructed us and both him and Uchias were about to leave.

“Where are you two going? Don’t you want to rest?” I inquired.

“We have something important to check… don't worry.. We will meet at dinner time..” uchias commented and left with Alarous.

The maidens gestured us to follow them and they provided Katia a separate room and mine was on another floor. I was confused until I realised that the royal wing is on the other floor. The corridors were empty. Just the footsteps of these maidens were heard. The place looked neat and tidy yet from outside, it appeared abandoned. I wondered if anyone tried finding this place before.

Not to forget, the rooms are spacious, luxurious and what not.. I did like this place…

The maiden bowed to me and left after I entered my room.. Things look too crazy here. Who ever thought I could go back in time and become a king? That’s crazy…

Sitting alone in the bathtub, relaxing, mde my mood a bit lighter. I didn’t know how I fell asleep but when I woke up, I was scared to see myself somewhere else. I gasped loudly and slipped from the tub, falling on my back hard, I guess I broke my scapula bone.

“f**k!!!” cursed..

“Well, we all are f****d someway, little king…” a voice rang behind me and a chill went down to my spine.

In the darkness, I couldn't see anyone but I was sure that I saw something moving.. I lighted the fire on my hand and looked for the person.

“Oh.. you can bend an element.. That’s amazing…” the same person said right in my ear and vanished..

“Who are you? Show your face coward….” i hissed but there was no response this time.

If he is not here anymore, I need to run as fast as I can. I searched for the door but there was none, only a room filled with darkness. Even my fire is helping illuminate the place. The utter silence was screaming dead in my ears and I knew that whoever his person is, h is watching me from the corners.

All of a sudden, something jumped on me. It was a wolf with red eyes…  His jaw was wide and the canines were sharp like razors, and all I saw was him attacking me.

“ahhhh!!!”
