Chapter 12: An Awkward Car RideHoward could not remember how many Saturdays he and Jason had taken the kids to the zoo after a big breakfast, but the idea of doing it again, after at least a decade, was exciting to him in a way that he couldn’t explain. By ten o’clock they were all dressed and had walked outside to the car.
“Wait, where’s your Hummer, Da?” James asked.
“I got rid of it. Long story. I’ll explain later,” Jason said.
“Let’s take Dad’s new Jag,” Janey suggested.
“Or…” Jason said. “We could take Edgar.”
“Yes!” Janey shouted. “Retro weekend with the folks! Let’s do it.”
Howard turned to his daughter and laughed only to see that James was just as excited as she was. “Edgar it is,” he said. “Your da has the keys.”
