Chapter Ten

1330 Words
Renesmee’s P.O.V Three hours later... Mason was coming to pick me up at five. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness brewing inside me. It will be my first date with someone I’ve met. I got undressed and took a shower to clean my hair and body. After I finished, I wrapped a towel around my waist. Then, I went to the bathroom counter to brush my hair. I then left my bedroom and saw Jacob on my bed. I tightened the towel around me and asked, “Jacob... what are you doing here?” “Sorry if I surprised you. I didn’t know if you were out of the shower yet,” Jacob responded. “It’s okay, but please never come into my bedroom when I’m not dressed.” Jacob said nothing but nodded. I walked to my closet and picked out something to wear. “What are you doing here, anyway?” I asked. “Mason will arrive in 45 minutes.” Jacob approached me and said, “I came to talk to you about that.” “What about it?” I asked. Jacob didn’t speak for a moment, and I grew curious. “Please tell me this isn’t about our date. I promise I will let you know if anything goes wrong,” I pleaded. I picked a lime green, white, and black shirt with skinny jeans. Then, I got my white jacket and laid everything on my bed. Jacob asked me, “What if you can’t call on time?” I spun around, startled by Jacob’s sudden closeness. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” I reassured him. “I’m not sure if I can believe that,” Jacob expressed. I gestured for Jacob to hold my hand, reassuring him. “Nothing will happen,” I promised. A sigh escaped Jacob’s lips as he nodded his head in understanding. He looked into my eyes, filled with concern. “I can’t bear anything happening to you,” he said. Jacob’s eyes softened, showing vulnerability. This made him seem more approachable and human, but he feared losing me. I sighed. “Do you trust me?” I asked, waiting for a response. “Yeah, of course, I trust you. But, unfortunately, it’s Mason I don’t trust,” Jacob responded. “I’ll get to know him, and if Mason does anything, I’ll call you.” I looked away from Jacob and took my clothes from my bed. I gave Jacob a look, showing he should leave the bedroom. “Jacob, I need to get dressed,” I stated. Jacob nodded and said, “I’ll wait in the living room.” “Why must you wait for me?” I inquired. “Well, I told Mason to pick you up at the main house, so I’m walking you there.” “Oh, okay.” I closed the door when Jacob left, grateful for the privacy to get dressed. Jacob’s P.O.V Bella approached me in the living room. She asked, “Did you convince her not to do it?” I sighed. “No, but I have to trust Renesmee. I have to trust that she’ll be fine,” I said. Bella nodded. She said, “I’m so worried if something happens to my baby girl.” I nodded and said, “I know.” “So, do you know where he’s taking her? She didn’t tell Edward and me,” Bella asked. “No, she never told me either.” “It must be a surprise.” “Or Renesmee could keep it from us because she doesn’t want us to know where he’s taking her.” “Yeah, I will talk to her because we should know.” “Alright.” Bella walked into her bedroom, her footsteps echoing. I sat down in the living room. Renesmee’s P.O.V My mom walked in, and I found a necklace that matched my outfit. “Hey, sweetie,” Mom said. I turned around to see my mom. Her face had a radiant smile when she saw me in my clothes. “Hey, mom,” I said. “Sweetie, you look beautiful,” Mom said. “Thanks, Mom,” My mom touched my hair and ran her fingers through it. Warmth and affection filled her eyes. She asked, “Do you want me to curl your hair?” “Sure,” I responded. My mom followed me to my seat. She took my curling iron and plugged it in. “Hey, Renesmee,” Mom said. As I gazed at my mom in the mirror, I noticed the wrinkles of concern etched around her eyes. “Yeah,” I said. “Where’s Mason taking you?” Mom inquired. “To a Christmas Party.” “Oh, I thought he was taking you to dinner or something.” “No.” “So, who will be at this party? I don’t want you at a wild party.” “I don’t know. Mason never told me.” My mom styled my hair once the curling iron reached its desired temperature. Mom looked at me with curiosity. She asked, “Why didn’t he tell you?” “I don’t know. I guess it’s supposed to be a surprise.” My mom nodded. When my mom finished my hair, she left my bedroom, and I could hear her footsteps fade as she walked down the hallway. I looked at the time; it was six, so I grabbed my white high heels and left my bedroom. I walked to the living room and saw Jacob on the couch. He saw me, stood up, and walked towards me. His jaw dropped when he saw my appearance. He said, “Wow... Renesmee... you look....” I rolled my eyes and said, “I know. I look great. Now come on.” With Jacob’s laughter filling the air, I seized his arm, ready to go to the door. We then headed to the main house. We headed upstairs to the living room after arriving at the main house. Mason was there talking to my dad. Crap, I hope he did not give him the talk because it would be so embarrassing if he did. Mason’s eyes lit up with joy when Mason saw me. He walked over to me and kissed my hand. Jacob rolled his eyes and walked away from us. I said to Mason, “We should leave now.” “Yeah, we don’t aspire to be late,” Mason said. I nodded. My father held Mason’s hand and walked towards us. He said, “Have fun, guys.” “Okay,” I said. Dad stared at Mason with a severe look in his eyes. He said, “Her curfew is ten.” “Dad!” I yelled, embarrassed. “No worries, Renesmee,” Mason reassured. Mason then looked at my dad with a serious expression. He said, “Don’t worry, I’ll bring her back on time.” “Good.” As we prepared to leave, Jacob grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Mason. Mason turned to see what halted us. He saw Jacob’s grip on my arm and looked at Jacob with curiosity. “Is there something wrong?” he asked. “No, I need to talk to you for a minute,” Jacob responded. Mason nodded. He said, “Okay, I’ll warm up the car.” I nodded. Mason went out the door. I turned back to Jacob. Concern filled his face. I looked at Jacob with curiosity. I asked, “What’s wrong?” “Nothing, but please promise me to call if something happens,” Jacob pleaded. “I will, I promise,” I reassured him. “Good, well, have fun.” I smiled and said, “Thank you, I will.” Before I left, Jacob pulled me in for a hug, and I hugged him back. Jacob then pulled away, and I headed downstairs and out the door to Mason’s car.
