Chapter Nine

Renesmee’s P.O.V The next day was when they came. I’m nervous about meeting the vampire family and hoping they’ll like me. Jacob has been by my side since the Creightons arrived. He has to follow me everywhere I go, whether in my bedroom, kitchen, main house, piano room, or living room. It’s getting annoying. I like his company, but sometimes I want to be alone. This afternoon, before they arrived, I took a shower, dried off, and put on a casual black flowery dress. I then used my curling iron and curled the ends of my hair. I then added a little mascara. After I finished, I opened my door and walked out of the bathroom. Jacob was in my bedroom on my bed, waiting for me to come out. He glanced at me, and his eyes went wide. I felt uncomfortable when Jacob scrutinized my appearance. Jacob stood up from the bed and walked towards me. He said, “Wow, you look...” “Amazing, I know. Aunt Alice picked it out.” “Well, she did well. You’ve never looked better. You should do it more often.” “I’ll think about it.” Jacob smirked. Right before we left, Jacob held my hand. That familiar, electrifying feeling rushed through me. I know he felt it because he tensed up a lot. He pulled me close to him, and my heartbeat picked up. Our faces were inches apart, and I looked down at his lips and wanted to kiss him. What is nerve-racking is that I have kissed no one before. Jacob moved his hands to my waist and pulled me closer, and my hand touched his chest. Our noses touched, and I sighed. Should I do that? I like or might even love him a lot, but I don’t know. It’s the way he makes me feel. No, I shouldn’t be thinking about the L word yet. We aren’t in a relationship yet. I shook it off and went for it. I collided my lips with his, sensing sparks scattered everywhere. I moved my hands around his neck, pulling him closer and deepening the kiss. His tongue asked for entrance, and I let him. I ran my fingers through his hair and tugged on it, and he moaned, tightening his grip on my waist. After a minute, we pulled away to catch our breath, and Jacob leaned his forehead against mine. “That was our first kiss. I’ve been eager to do that for a while,” he expressed. I nodded. I said, “And my first kiss.” Jacob looked at me and smiled. He then grabbed my face and kissed me again. I melted into this kiss this time. Jacob moved back. He said, “I’m happy to be your first.” After our kiss, I smiled and ran my hands down Jacob’s chest. “Let’s go,” I suggested, catching my breath. Jacob held my hand and said, “Yeah.” As we left my bedroom, I said to him, “Jacob.” Jacob opened the door. He said, “Yeah.” “You were my first kiss, and it was amazing, but we can’t do it again. Not for a while, at least. I’ll be in trouble if my parents find out,” I said. Jacob sighed. He admitted, “I understand and agree with you. It won’t occur again.” “Good,” I said. Jacob’s P.O.V We walked to Cullen’s house, and I smelled something. Vampires. I pulled Renesmee close to me as we reached the house. “What’s wrong, Jacob?” Renesmee asked. “I smell vampires,” I responded. “It could be my family.” “No, it’s a fresh scent. I recognize it. The bloodsuckers are here.” “The Creightons are here already?” We went upstairs to the living room. I stopped outside. Renesmee seemed nervous. Her hand tightened, and warmth spread through my fingers. The boy and his mom sat on the couch with the Cullens. I got tense, and Renesmee looked at me with concern. She asked, “What’s wrong, Jacob?” “I’m hesitant about letting you go inside because I don’t trust those vampires,” I responded. “Jacob, it’s okay. Everything is going to be okay.” After hearing Renesmee’s voice, they looked at us. I released her hand, and we walked in. When Bella got up, she walked over to Renesmee. She moved a strand of hair behind Renesmee’s hair. “Renesmee, you look beautiful, like I was your age,” she said. Come on, let’s let you meet Mason and Scarlett Creighton.” “Alright,” Renesmee said. I stood against the wall and watched Renesmee walk over to the bloodsuckers. Renesmee’s P.O.V I was so nervous as I walked over to them. Then Mason got up and walked over. I looked him up and down. He has dark brown eyes, shaggy black hair, and a sharp jawline. He is muscular, although not as much as Jacob. He is attractive, though. “Mason, meet my daughter Renesmee,” Mom introduced. “Nice to meet you, Renesmee,” Mason said. “Nice to meet you too, Mason,” I said, shaking his hand. “I heard so much about you. I heard you are a special person here.” “Yeah, I guess,” “You guess, but you’re not like everyone else.” Mom interrupted us as I was about to speak. She said, “Let’s give you guys some time to talk. Come on, Jacob.” Mom left, and Jacob stood behind me as I turned to look at him. “It’s okay, Jacob,” I reassured him. Jacob glared at Mason and then turned to leave. When my family left the room, I was now alone with Mason. I sat down on the couch with him right beside me. “I couldn’t help but notice your eyes aren’t gold. Why? I thought you were vegetarian?” I asked. “We are, but we are different. Our eyes are human color, like yours,” Mason responded. “Oh.” “And you, you are half-human, right?” “Yes.” “So, do you have anything a vampire can do since you are half-human?” “Yeah, I can run like a vampire and have supernatural powers.” “What’s your supernatural power?” I moved my hand to his face and sent memories to his mind, but not ones with Jacob. I moved my hand away from his face, and he looked at me. “That’s amazing. And one question: why are you friends with that werewolf?” he asked. He must have seen my memories with Jacob. “He... he’s my best friend,” I responded. “He seems too old for you,” Mason pondered. His words bothered me, and I glared at him. “It doesn’t matter. Jacob doesn’t age; he turned sixteen,” I said. Mason asked, “How old is he now?” “He’s twenty-one and will be twenty-two soon,” I responded. “Wow.” “And how old are you?” “I’m seventeen.” Wow, he was younger than Jacob. “How long?” I inquired. “For about two years,” Mason responded. “So you are nineteen years old?” “Yeah, I guess.” I nodded my head. I glanced around the kitchen and spotted Jacob with the rest of the family. He was talking to my mom. Jacob turned his head to look at me and stared at him. Then he looked me in the eye and winked at me. I smiled, blushed, and looked away. Then I turned back to Mason. “Would you like to come to a party with me?” Mason inquired. “Hum, sure, but I’m not a party person,” I responded. “Come on; it’s a Christmas Party.” Mason was giving me puppy eyes. Given my feelings for him, this may assist me in dating and finding someone other than Jacob. So it’s for the best. “Hum, sure, I’ll go with you,” I responded. “Okay, cool, I’ll pick you up around six tonight,” Mason said. “Alright.” “Well, I should tell my mom. I should get going.” “Okay.” I followed Mason as he walked into the kitchen. He walked over to his mom, and I walked over to Jacob and stood beside him. He looked down at me and grinned, and I grinned back. Then Mason and Scarlett walked toward us. “So it was nice meeting you, Renesmee. I’m so glad you agreed to go out with Mason tonight. It will be fun,” Scarlett said. “I hope so,” I said. Mason grinned at me and said, “See you later, Renesmee.” Mom looked at me, puzzled, as they left. She asked, “Are you nervous? It’s your first date.” Dad entered with a curious look on his face. He asked, “What date?” “She is going on a date with Mason tonight,” Mom responded. “Yeah, he’s picking me up at six,” I responded. “You’ve just met him,” Dad said, sounding unsure. Jacob moved away from me and leaned against the countertop with crossed arms. He doesn’t look happy either. “I don’t want to miss out on dating and making friends; it’s my chance to have a life,” I emphasized. “Fine, you can go. I need to chat with this guy before you and Mason head out tonight,” Dad mentioned. “Alright,” Mom and dad exited the room, leaving me alone with Jacob in the kitchen. The atmosphere feels intense now, and I wouldn’t say I liked the silence. I asked Jacob, “Are you mad at me?” Jacob scoffed. “Mad? No, just surprised,” he explained. “Why do you look upset?” I inquired. “I’m upset that you would go out with a guy like him,” “He does not seem that bad, Jacob.” “Are you sure? There’s something fishy about them.” “What...what about them?” “I don’t want you near that guy without my protection. They’re plotting something.” “Jacob, I’ll be fine. If something happens, I’ll call you, and you can come get me.” “You promise?” “Yes.” “Alright.” I hugged Jacob, and he hugged me back.
