Chapter Three

Renesmee’s P.O.V As I closed the door, the rumble of Jacob starting his motorcycle reverberated in my ears. I approached him as he was about to put on his helmet. As I neared him, I took a moment to scrutinize his appearance because I hadn’t looked at him. His body looked sculpted as his tight white shirt clung to him, highlighting his abs. Jacob smirked, his eyes narrowing as he noticed me staring at him. I blushed and looked away as I stood next to him. Jacob handed me a helmet, and I fastened it on my head. I hopped on the motorcycle, unsure of hand placement. “Put your hands on my hips,” Jacob whispered, his voice filled with a playful tone and smirk. I nodded, my hands trembling and trying to steady them, and placed my hands on Jacob’s hips, feeling his warmth. I had never touched him like that before, and his body tensed in response. Yet, his tense muscles relaxed. I held him while he lifted the motorcycle stand, and we rode away. I got scared as he went faster. I held onto him tighter. Jacob laughed and asked if I was okay. “Yeah, not used to riding on the back of motorcycles,” I responded. “You’re like your mother when she first rode a motorcycle with me.” I nodded my head. I felt jealous when Jacob talked about my mom all the time. “Why do you keep mentioning my mother? It’s odd,” I inquired. Jacob parked his motorcycle and removed his helmet as he arrived at his house. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow. “I’m not sure,” he said. “Your mother and I had a past before I became attached to you. Whenever I spend time with you, it reminds me of her.” Jacob’s words hurt me, and I don’t know why. I got off the bike, removed my helmet, and confronted him. “So, everything we do together reminds you of Bella?” I asked. “No, I mean...” “You mean what? I don’t want you to relate me to what you did with my mom. I want our relationship to differ from what you had with my mother.” Jacob held my hands and said, “Nessie, I loved my time with your mom, but I want exciting adventures with you now.” I smiled and inquired, “Are you pleased I am a person who enjoys adventures?” “Ah, huh,” Jacob responded. I grinned more, and we stood there, gazing at each other. Then Jacob spoke up. “Let’s head inside.” I nodded in agreement and responded with a simple “Yeah.” When we reached the front door, Jacob grabbed the knob to open the door. We walked inside and into the kitchen. We saw Billy and Grandpa watching something as we walked into the kitchen. “Hey, Dad,” Jacob said. “Hey, son,” Billy said. As I turned around, Billy greeted me with a smile and said, “Hey, Renesmee!” “Hi,” Grandpa spotted me and walked over with open arms. “Hey, Renesmee,” he greeted, hugging me. I hugged him in return and said, “Hi.” Grandpa released the hug and inquired about our plans. He wanted to make sure that Jacob was keeping his granddaughter safe. Jacob nodded. “Good, because he wouldn’t be protecting her if he didn’t imprint on her,” Billy said. “Dad!” Jacob yelled. Grandpa fixed his gaze on Jacob, his face contorting with curiosity. “I’ve been hearing a lot about this imprinting thing. Can you enlighten me about what it is?” he asked. “Wait, you didn’t tell him? I thought you told him you were a werewolf?” Billy asked. “Yeah, I did, but I didn’t tell him that,” Jacob responded. “So, what is it?” Grandpa asked. Jacob held my hand and reassured Grandpa, saying, “It’s nothing. Come on, Nessie.” Jacob guided me out of the kitchen, and I greeted Grandpa with a smile, saying, “It’s good to see you.” “You too, Renesmee,” Grandpa said. Upon entering Jacob’s bedroom, he closed the door behind us and sighed in relief. “That was too close,” he muttered. “You could have told Grandpa since he already knows you are a werewolf,” I said. “I can’t, Renesmee. Do you realize how wrong it is to be together? I’m twenty-one; you’re not even in high school yet.” I nodded, acknowledging Jacob’s accuracy with a slight smile. “You know what? You’re right. But we should break the news to him when we’re together,” I responded. Jacob nodded and smirked. His footsteps echoed as he walked towards me, leaving me bewildered. He pushed me against the wall and held me there. With a mischievous expression, he inquired, “What do you want to do?” Jacob stood near me, making me breathe faster. “Aren’t we heading to the beach?” I inquired. “We are,” Jacob responded. Jacob moved closer, and I swear I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins. His face moved closer to mine, and I felt a suffocating sensation as the air grew thin. I looked down at his lips, which were near mine. What is he doing? He can’t do that. We are not meant to begin anything. We need to maintain our friendship. I felt the warmth of his chest beneath my hand as I pushed him aside to get around him. I walked to the other side of the bedroom, which confused him. “Friends, remember,” I said. Jacob, feeling frustrated, sighed and tousled his spiky faux-hawk. “I wish we were more than friends,” he confessed. My eyes widened in surprise, and I exclaimed, “What?” Jacob held my hands. I felt that overwhelming sensation once more. “Nessie, I couldn’t tell you before because we were friends. We began as close siblings, but you became my best friend. Now, I’ve fallen for you. Its tough being a wolf; my feelings are intense. Sometimes, I can’t hold back the desire to be close to you,” he confessed. My eyes widened. Does Jacob have feelings for me, too? I smiled, unsure of my emotions. Yet, I enjoyed being around him and how he made me feel. I also liked him, but do I want him that way yet? I’m too young to be thinking about this stuff. Unsure of what to say, I suggested he change and head to the beach. Jacob sighed, “Okay, I’ll go get dressed,” then walked off. “Alright, I’ll be outside waiting for you,” I said. Jacob nodded. Leaving his bedroom, I went through the living room, unnoticed by Billy and Grandpa. I walked out the door and saw his motorcycle gleaming in the sunlight. I then leaned against his bike and waited for Jacob. While I waited, I observed two boys emerging from the woods. I saw Embry and Quil, their footsteps crunching on the gravel path. As soon as they caught sight of me, they sprinted towards me. “Hello, Wolf girl,” Embry said. My eyes narrowed with irritation as I commanded them, “Please don’t call me that.” “Why not? You’re Jacob’s imprintee,” Embry remarked. “And we’re friends.” Quil scoffed, “Friends? That won’t last,” he remarked. “What do you mean, it won’t last long? I’m too young?” I asked. “Even if you are young, your bond will get stronger. The more you spend time with him, the more the bond grows. When you and Jacob fight your feelings, it will become difficult for both of you to stay apart. Has Jacob been acting weird around you, like making moves?” I thought about it. I recall Jacob pushing me against his bedroom wall. He was almost about to kiss me and share his feelings with me. “Well, he did almost make a move on me in his bedroom, but I stopped him,” I responded. “See what I mean. Why did you stop Jacob? Don’t you have feelings for him, too?” Quil asked. “I don’t know what I am feeling. I like Jacob, but I’m too young, and besides, we can’t be together right now. Didn’t he tell you guys he made a deal with my parents that we couldn’t be together until I turned eight?” Quill stared at me with horror filling his eyes. “He what?” he asked. Quil and Embry’s eyes widened in surprise as they exchanged glances. “Why’d he do that? Doesn’t he realize being away will hurt him?” Quil inquired. My eyes widened. I didn’t know what to say. Did Jacob and his wolf suffer from my parents dealing with him? “Where’s he at, anyway?” Embry inquired. “He’s changing inside because we are fixing ongoing to the beach,” I responded. Quil and Embry nodded. “We’ll catch you later, Renesmee,” Quil waved goodbye. I nodded, and Quil and Embry raced past the house with an energetic burst of speed as if on cue. Jacob walked out, exuding confidence with every step he took. Looking at him again, I noticed his swim trunks fit his body well. His sleeveless shirt revealed his muscular arms. I would not lie, but I found Jacob attractive. Looking at his body was agonizing for me. “Ready to go?” Jacob asked. “Yep,” I responded. Jacob put his helmet on, and I followed him on his motorcycle. Jacob then pushed the stand-up with his foot and drove us onto the road, heading to the beach. The sight of the beach filled with teenagers surprised me. It was much more crowded than I expected. They must all go to the school my mom wanted me to attend. Jacob parked in the parking spot, and I got off, and so did he. I removed my helmet, set it next to Jacob’s, and grabbed my bag. I turned and saw a blond boy my age grinning. He walked towards the beach. I smiled back and looked away, blushing. Jacob saw the unfolding events with his own eyes. He didn’t look happy; his brows furrowed as he stared at the boy with a dark expression that scared him away. “What was that for, Jacob? He was smiling at me,” I asked. Jacob’s voice lowered, sounding threatening. “I could tell he was flirting with you,” he growled. Jacob’s eyes narrowed with anger, showing his genuine concern for me as he stared at me. As a sign of my exasperation, I rolled my eyes and said, “Your behavior is immature.” I walked toward the beach, where the crashing waves filled the air. Jacob caught up with me and said, “I’m trying to protect you, Nessie.” “Oh, so you think scaring every guy away from me protects me? I’m no longer a child and look fourteen in vampire years now.” “I’m aware of Nessie, still...” “Forget it; I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” Jacob fell silent, his lips pressed together as he nodded with a furrowed brow. As we reached the sandy beach, I noticed Sam, Emily, Jared, Kim, Paul, and Rachel relaxing in the sun. We walked towards them and located a spot to place our belongings. Seth appeared out of nowhere, which startled me. “Hello, Renesmee,” he greeted me. I took a deep breath and exclaimed, “Oh my God, you scared me!” Seth apologized, “I’m sorry. What brings you here? Haven’t seen you since you were two, right?” “Yeah, and now I’m four,” I responded. Seth nodded. Jacob leaned in and whispered, “I need to have a word with Sam.” I nodded and said, “Okay.” Jacob sprinted to Sam, and Seth joined him. “I noticed you two getting closer,” Seth remarked. “Yeah, I enjoy hanging out with Jacob. He makes me happy. But we’re too young to be serious. Plus, he’s protective. Once, a guy smiled at me, and he scared him off.” I explained. “Yeah, finding your imprintee can do that to you. The imprinter can get very protective. I have yet to find mine, but my friends have told me. Has he reached that stage yet?” I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in curiosity. “What stage?” I asked. “He likes you, even if you don’t feel the same way. This may explain his protectiveness towards you. It’s because he cares about you or even loves you.” My eyes widened. It makes sense now. Jared shouted, “Hey, Renesmee, how are you and Jacob doing?” “Good, but Jacob and I are friends,” I said. “Not for long.” Why does everyone keep saying that? Jacob appeared out of nowhere as I was about to speak. “Hey Jared, what are you telling Renesmee?” Jacob asked. Jared uttered a lie by saying, “Nothing.” I chuckled as Jacob watched Jared, aware of his lies. “Please share nothing she isn’t ready for,” Jacob asked. “So, it’s true? You have feelings for me or love me?” I asked. “No... I mean, yes, I mean..” Jacob stammered. “Yes or no, Jacob?” Jacob sighed with frustration before confessing, “Yes, Nessie, I’m in love with you.” My eyes widened in astonishment. I stood there, speechless, unsure of what to say. Jared sensed the awkwardness and joined the others in the water. I got up. My mind was still shocked. I took a walk. Jacob’s voice broke the silence as he approached me and asked, “Where are you headed?” “I’m going to take a walk on the beach,” I responded. “I’ll go with you.” “No, I need some time to take all this in.” “Oh, alright.” I walked past Jacob, feeling the sun’s warmth on my skin. I made my way toward the vast expanse of the ocean. I longed to experience the refreshing touch of the cool water on my skin. I removed my pants, showing off my swimsuit bottom, but left my T-shirt on. Stepping into the water, I could feel the gentle caress of a breeze on my skin, adding to the lovely sensation. It’s been a while since I could stand out and touch the refreshing breeze on my skin. My parents trapped me in my house for years so that I couldn’t experience this. I ignored the boys’ sounds, stepped forward, and went deeper into the water. A man’s voice startled me from behind, causing me to twist and identify its source. “Do you enjoy the water here?” he asked. The guy I saw in the parking lot was the one I saw earlier. Up close, his looks became even more noticeable with his robust features and intense gaze. “Oh, yeah, I haven’t experienced this weather in so long because I live in Forks,” I responded. “I can tell. It seems you haven’t been in the sun. Did you know that getting some sunlight is important for your health? It can improve your mood, boost your vitamin D levels, and even enhance your immune system.” The boy said. I chuckled and responded, “I’ll remember that.” The boy approached me with a warm smile. “I’m Isaac,” he introduced himself. Isaac extended his hand towards me, inviting a handshake. I took his hand and shook it. Isaac asked, “What’s your name?” “It’s Renesmee,” I responded. “Renesmee, that’s different.” “Yeah, my parents named me after two people’s names.” “And is it?” “Renee and Esme.” Isaac nodded his head. “It’s nothing special,” I said. “It suits you,” Isaac said with a smile. I blushed and said, “Thank you.” Isaac seemed sweet. I had never met a human person my age before. With his hair obscuring his vision, he brushed it to the side. His action was scorching. I almost drooled but swallowed it back so I wouldn’t make a gross impression. “So, what’s with your boyfriend? He creeps me out.” Isaac said. “He’s not my boyfriend,” I clarified. “Then why does he act like your boyfriend?” “He’s trying to protect me.” “Why?” “It’s hard to explain.” “I have time. Tell me.” “I can’t.” “Why not?” My gaze shifted from the guys playing ball to Isaac, who stood with a focused expression. “I can’t,” I said. I couldn’t explain imprinting and werewolves, so I got out of the water and grabbed my pants. “I should go,” I said. “Wait, will I ever see you again?” Isaac asked. “Maybe,” Isaac smiled, and as I rejoined the group, I saw Jacob, shirtless and basking in the sun. I stopped and admired the sculpted lines of his physique. But wait, what am I saying? ‘ Jacob smirked at me as I approached him. “Hey,” I greeted him. “Hey,” he said. Jacob’s arms opened wide as I approached him, and he enveloped me in a comforting hug. I have to admit, his hugs always made me feel cozy and reassured. I patted him on the back and hugged him back. Moving away, he glanced and asked, “Do you want to swim?” “Sure.” I put my pants on the sand and took off my shirt. I noticed Jacob staring at me. I smiled, knowing that Jacob found my body attractive. I set my shirt down on the sand by my pants and spoke. “Race ya,” Jacob nodded. We raced into the water. The cool droplets splashed against our skin. I won because I was faster than he was. “I let you win!” Jacob yelled. “Yeah, right,” I said. “It’s true. I may be faster in werewolf form, but I could still beat you in human form.” “Ah huh, I want to see you try.” “It’s on.” I smirked as I splashed water on Jacob, and he retaliated by spraying me back. We played and swam for hours and never got tired. I didn’t expect to have this much fun with anyone. I never thought it through.
