Chapter Two

Renesmee's P.O.V The next day, I went hunting for the first time since my parents thought I was ready to hunt alone. As I left through the front door, I sped up to 50 miles per hour using my vampire speed and dashed through the forest. Then, I heard something and stopped. Hiding behind a rock, I gazed up. A deer stood before me. The deer looked up, and I crouched. My mom taught me the best way to hunt is to be silent. The deer moved closer to the rock, and I jumped out and grabbed it. I held it down and sank my teeth into its neck. Finishing my meal, I cleaned my face, seeing Jacob's smirk. "Good job on your first solo hunt," he complimented. Jacob's abrupt arrival startled me, causing my half-human heart to race. "Jacob, how did you find me?" I inquired. "Your mom told me where you were?" Jacob responded. He looked stern and said, "Renesmee, we need to talk." "Hum, okay.." As Jacob took my hand, a familiar tingling sensation surged through my body. I didn't quite understand it, but I loved the feeling it brought. Jacob felt it, too. He reacted and glanced back at me. We exchanged smiles. We then walked to the meadow, where the vibrant colors of wildflowers greeted us. We were about to sit down when I tripped over a flower. Jacob caught me, grabbed my waist, and pulled me closer to him. I looked up at Jacob, stunned. Jacob laughed and said, "You're becoming like your mom." Jacob's statement left me feeling confused. "So, you're saying that my mother was clumsy?" I asked, seeking clarification. "Yes, when she was human," Jacob said. "Not anymore, though, you can see." I nodded. Jacob sat on the soft, green grass, his curious gaze fixed on me. "Did your mother ever tell you about the time she almost died?" he asked. "I felt so bad about it, but I knew she risked her life to have me," I responded. "I didn't think your mom made the right decision to marry a vampire. I have told her to choose me, but she never listened." Jacob's face scrunched up in a frown, and he looked away, avoiding eye contact. He had some powerful emotions tied to my mother. I couldn't resist asking, "Wait a minute. Do you have feelings for my mom?" "Yeah, a lot. My crush on your mother grew stronger. I wanted to love her, but it hurt when she married your father." Jacob responded. "Did you ever kiss her?" "Yes, twice. The first one was worse because Bella punched me, but the second one was good because she wanted me to kiss her." I chuckled. Jacob looked at me, puzzled. He inquired, "What's so funny?" "You got punched in the face." "Yeah, I was trying to get her to confess her feelings for me." "Did it hurt?" "No, werewolf, remember? But she broke her hand." I disregarded my wide eyes and inquired, "Did you still love Bella after her honeymoon?" I nodded. "I thought Edward would hurt her on their honeymoon, but she got sick when they returned. When I went to Cullen's, I found out instead that she was pregnant with you. So I am relieved but angry with your father because he got her pregnant." Jacob responded. "So, what led to you falling out of love with her?" Jacob sighed, looking at the tall trees. "It's a long story," he hesitated. I grabbed his hand, and a familiar sensation rushed over me, and I uttered, "I want to know." "Hum... well, I imprinted on you," Jacob responded. I looked at Jacob, feeling confused. "What do you mean, you imprinted on me?" I asked. "It's hard to explain," Jacob responded. I tugged on his biceps, feeling the firmness of his muscles, and inquired, "Could you please tell me?" Jacob chuckled, a mix of amusement and exhaustion clear. He sighed. "You're so stubborn," he remarked. "I want to know," I said. Jacob sighed, explaining, "Imprinting is when Quileute shape-shifters find soulmates." I asked, "How does this impact you?" "It's not exactly love at first sight. It is more like... gravity moves... it is not the earth holding me here anymore, it's you...." Jacob responded. My eyes widened. Wait... did Jacob... no way. He imprinted on me. It made sense why Jacob stopped loving my mom and has always been there for me since I was little. Does he like me now? I smiled at the thought. As I observed him, I couldn't help but feel inquisitive. "What made you select me?" I inquired. "What do you mean?" Jacob inquired, seeking clarification from me. "Why did you imprint it on me?" "I can't choose who I want to imprint on Nessie. It happened. There was a reason I imprinted on you." "And it is?" "It was when I had a crush on your mother. I had a severe emotional infatuation with her. When I first met her, I liked her and wanted to fall for her, but I never reached that point. But anyway, there was a reason I had a crush on your mother. It was you. You're part of her, that's why? There was a reason the world put your father and your mother together. To create you for me." I nodded. It had a strange, yet reasonable, logic to it. With a chuckle, Jacob stood up and stretched his limbs. "Let's go," he said, taking my hand as we returned to the main house. Uncle Emmett smirked as we entered, asking, "Did you have fun?" "Yeah, I snatched a deer," I responded. "Good for you. How did you do it?" Jacob's voice filled the air before I spoke. "I saw her jump out and grab it." Uncle Emmett's eyes widened, and he smirked again. "You bear a striking resemblance to your mother," he said. I needed to use the restroom. "Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom. I'll be right back," I said. I caught Jacob and uncle Emmett's curious gaze. Then, they both nodded in approval. I went to the bathroom to brush away the metallic taste of blood from my teeth. Jacob's P.O.V "So, Jacob, did you tell her?" Emmett inquired. I sank into the plush couch across from Emmett and replied, "Yes." "How did she react?" "She was fine; she didn't get angry or anything." "Well, that's Renesmee for ya." "Ah, huh?" Renesmee came back from the bathroom with her brushed teeth. I asked her what she had been doing. "I was using the toilet and brushing my teeth," Renesmee responded. Emmett snorted, catching Renesmee and my attention. "What's amusing?" she inquired. "Nothing," Emmett chuckled. Jacob stood up, unimpressed. "Okay, let's go before he sobs," he suggested. I gazed at Jacob with a perplexed expression and inquired, "Where are we going?" "We need to go to the cottage. I need to talk to your parents." "Oh, alright." We headed downstairs, and the warm breeze greeted us as we walked outside. We walked through the forest and headed toward the cottage. Upon arrival at the cottage, the warm glow of lights spilled out from the windows. We headed towards the door, and Renesmee opened it. We then walked inside. They disgusted me when I saw Bella and Edward on the couch making out as we walked inside. "Please get a room, you guys," I whined. They turned and looked at us. Bella walked over to Renesmee for a hug. "How was your first hunt by yourself?" Bella asked. "I saw her. She was amazing." I responded. Bella smiled at me before turning to Renesmee. "That's great news," she remarked. "Thanks," Renesmee said. Bella asked if I had informed her. "Yep, I told her everything," I responded. Renesmee walked over to the couch and felt its warmth as she sat down. Bella appeared anxious as she glanced back and forth between me and Renesmee. She inquired, "How did Renesmee respond?" "Well, she laughed at me," I responded. "Did she get angry?" "No, not at all." "That's good. I thought Renesmee would have rejected you, and you would be heartbroken." "Nope." "Congratulations then, Jacob." Bella hugged me, and I hugged her back. After glancing at us, Renesmee smirked at me. I glared at her. We pulled away. Bella glanced at Renesmee's smirking face, then rolled her eyes at me. Bella asked, "What did you tell her?" "I told her about our past," I responded. "Oh." Bella felt awkward. Despite an imprinting on Renesmee, Bella and I still had feelings. Now that I have my imprintee, my feelings have disappeared. I only see her as a friend. Bella walked over to Edward and sat down. To end this awkward moment, I decided I would get going. "Well, I should leave now," I said. Renesmee asked with curiosity. "Where are you going?" "I'm heading home, then off to La Push beach," Jacob responded. "Can I come?" "Hmm, not sure about that, sweetie," Bella mused. "Mom, I'm bored," Renesmee complained. "Then go over to the main house." "Mom, I have been to the beach a million times. They know me. Why can't I go?" "Bella cut her some slack. She won't do anything wrong," Edward reassured her. "Alright, my dear. You can go," Bella sighed. Renesmee hugged her mom and said, "Thank you, Mom!" "Make sure you don't stay out too long," Renesmee pulled away, the sound of her footsteps growing fainter as she walked back over to me. I assured Bella we'd return shortly and return her in a few hours. "Alright," Bella said. "Bye," Renesmee said. "Bye," Edward and Bella said. We headed out the door.
