Chapter 29: Sudden Changes

Kira indeed has a goal that she wanted badly to accomplish. This thirst for revenge for her past life is the only reason why she was living and working so hard in this lifetime.

No one was able to read her thoughts and understand her actions. Even Auntie Herma and Bariston, who had been with her for the longest time, had a hard time understanding her plans and her words.

Who would have thought that the man whom she accidentally met for the first time would be able to discern her thoughts? She knew very well that this man before her was a very powerful and dangerous person. If he interrupted her plans for no reason, it would be bound to fail.

Her eyes flickered as if thousands of words were all converged into her mind. For the first time, she felt worried all of a sudden. If what she was thinking would end up happening, then everything that she had been doing since the time of her rebirth would come in vain.

Alder finally saw a different expression on her face and this made him smile deeper,” Don’t need to look so anxious. You don’t have to give me that necessarily look as if I’m planning to destroy your plans. Don’t worry, I’m also waiting for the destruction of the people you wanted to destroy, so I’ll leave the work to you.”

Kira was slightly surprised for a moment as she had not imagined that he had also the same thoughts as her. But what’s the reason for him to wish for the destruction of Rouguemont and Wishborne Castle? Did something happen badly to him for him to think of that?

However, it’s quite unusual for her father to offend someone like him. Her father recognizes and praises someone with powerful connections and strength. So, even if she didn’t have any idea about his identity, she was sure that he was someone powerful that even her father wouldn’t want to offend.

She looked at him and became silent for a moment before saying, “The one who was spying on me the last time I was on the streets was your subordinate, if I’m not mistaken.”

“You are indeed worthy of my attention,” Alder said as he looked slightly cold, “You managed to sense my subordinate with that little strength of yours. And thought that it was my person. Indeed worthy of my praise. ”

“It’s not that hard to guess… As you can see, no one can easily send a 4th rank wolf just to spy on a mere princess like me, don’t you think so?”

Kira was having a hard time figuring out who was the person who spied on her that day. Although it didn’t look like she was having a problem on the surface, it had indeed been troubling her for a long time now. But now that she had seen this man, everything made sense. Of course, a man as strong as him would want to know the background and intention of the person who saved him. For him to be this strong, she was sure that he didn’t trust people that easily.

“Very well said… For a smart woman like you, you would immediately connect everything with just little clues.” Alder smiled mischievously as he eyed Kira up and down, “How come nobody managed to notice your talent for the past years?… A useless and thoughtless princess changed after waking up with a severe cold… A person can’t change overnight, Lady Kira… So, I’m curious… Is it because you are just good at fooling people or has something else happened?”

Just as Kira wanted to speak to make an explanation, she heard his voice again, “You know you are like Pandora’s box. Full of mystery and secrets that no one can easily break…. But, it’s fun slowly revealing what’s inside Pandora’s box. It wouldn’t be exciting if the secrets were revealed in just a snap…”

Kira asked with doubt in her eyes, “What do you mean by that?”

“I will unveil the secrets hidden in you slowly one at a time… It would be fun and exciting to know the mystery behind the youngest princess of Rouguemont Castle,” he said with a smirk on his lips.

She could see the glow on his face even if it was covered with a mask. He was enjoying this, that’s for sure…

However, Kira isn’t someone who would easily back down. What she had understood about his personality after their short talk was that he wouldn’t kill her unless his interest was lost. He wouldn’t disrupt her plans if it brought him enjoyment.

So, for her to make her plans go smoothly, she had to make sure that this unknown man wouldn’t lose interest in her. It’s not because he had some deep feelings for her, but because it brought him excitement for no particular reason.

“The competition is about to resume… I believe you wouldn’t like to miss it. Till we meet again, Lady Kira.” His smile harbored malicious intents, but his words went straight to the target.

He stood straight and turned around towards the darkness. Not a moment, his figure disappeared in a flash. Kira gave out a deep sigh of relief that she had been holding for a long while now.

That man’s presence was making her hard to breathe. It might be because she was too weak compared to him. That’s why she was suffering from suffocation in his presence. She didn’t like that feeling very much. She had long wanted to get away from his presence before she lost her composure, but her pride wouldn’t allow it. She had been keeping up an appearance this whole time and only managed to take a breath when he left.

When Kira exited the plum blossom forest, Bariston was finally relieved. He looked back at the forest and saw no one inside, so he asked her doubtfully, “Where is he, Lady Kira? I didn’t see him coming out from the forest?”

Kira also glanced back. There’s not a single sign of him being there. It’s like what she had experienced earlier was just her imagination. That’s the advantage of someone who has martial arts ability. He could easily appear and disappear whenever and wherever he liked.

She said, “Let’s go, Katelyn must have come back to the hall.”

When they were back inside, Katelyn ran over in a rush and complained, “I thought you left me here, Lady Kira. Didn’t we agree that you would wait for me here? Where did you go by the way?”

“I just took a casual look at the plum blossom forest. It’s been a while since I left the palace’s grounds so I was admiring the scenery outside those huge walls.” Kira raised her eyes and looked towards the stage, “Did it start already?”

“Not yet, but there was an announcement that was made. There was a change in the competition rules.” Katelyn’s lips curled, “There is no selection that is happening. This time, it will proceed immediately to the challenger stage. The person who will raise the challenge first will have the advantage of choosing what examination they will be playing at. Either martial arts or scholarly arts.”

Kira’s eyes fell on the other far left side of the hall. There she saw a man dressed in a green robe who was happily talking to the people at his table.

This man was Anthony Fynn, Celina’s older brother, who also had a deep affection for Valerie. He was the one who would willingly do anything for Valerie.

If Valerie wanted something, he would do it without any second thoughts. He came from a family that practices both arts. His father was part of the military. He was a general, to be exact, so he was proficient in military arts. On the other hand, his mother was proficient in scholarly arts and she was best at painting. That’s where Celina got her talent perhaps.

After the announcement a while ago, it would be impossible for this man not to do something. Especially since his younger sister was trampled by her in the painting category which she was so proud of. And also, because of her painting, surpassed Valerie’s Ethereal Moon painting.

She wouldn’t be surprised if he would do something tonight to avenge her beloved and her precious younger sister…
