“Althea, have you discovered a way to make Lawrence walk again?”
After their discussion at Lawrence’s house, they immediately head back to the palace. Bariston left right after sending her back to her room.
“As from what I have seen, Lawrence’s legs were injured the day he was born. His inability to walk is not an inborn trait. Someone deliberately injured him, causing his current situation.” Althea explained.
Kira slightly frowned, her initial thought was right. Someone wanted to harm him on the day he was born. “So, is there a way for his legs to be healed?”
“Yes, master.” Althea nodded slightly, “Although it will take some time since the injury was inflicted for a very long time, it’s still not impossible for it to be healed.”
“Explain…” she replied shortly.
“Master, you have the lotus flower. It’s the most important ingredient in healing his legs.” Althea scribbled something on the paper and handed it to her. “These herbs shall be added to the lotus flower.”
Kira took the list and read it carefully, “So, this should be used for bathing, am I right?” It was her guess after reading the contents. The herbs on the list can’t be taken orally since the body can’t digest them.
Althea gleefully nodded, “Master, that’s correct. But, because his body is very fragile, you have to perform acupuncture on his legs before he takes the medicinal bath. In this way, it can help his body absorb the medicine.”
“Acupuncture? So, this means I have to be present every time during his treatment period.” Kira lightly touched her chin saying, " It’s not plausible for me to always leave the room every night. Sooner or later, they will definitely catch me. Especially now that Valerie already had her suspicions about me.”
Althea’s lips twitched, “So, what is your plan now, Master?”
“I’ll think of something. For now, gathering these herbs is much more important.” Kira’s lips raised as she walked headed to her bed.
The next morning, Kira woke up earlier than usual. When Auntie Herma walked in bringing a tray of food in her hands, Kira was already dressed and now reading a book in her hands.
“You are quite fond of reading books nowadays, Lady Kira. I always see you reading one.” Auntie Herma gently commented.
“I just realized that reading is quite fun to do to pass the time, “Kira’s lips rose into an enticing curve as she carefully closed the book and placed it to the side. “How are father and my sister? They scolded you again for bringing my meals to my room?”
She had just heard this from Bariston. Because of her refusal to join them for a meal in the dining hall, Auntie Herma had been scolded quite a few times. But since she’s her mother’s nanny, she wasn’t punished physically.
She knew it was just their excuse to scold the people around her. They weren't angry because she didn't join them, they were angry because they didn't have the time to humiliate and reprimand her.
No matter how hurtful and harsh those words were, Auntie Herma did not complain one bit and just sucked them up. If Bariston didn’t tell her about this, she wouldn’t have had an idea that Auntie Herma was verbally attacked because of her.
Auntie Herma was stupefied. How did her lady know about it? She tried to hide it from her as much as possible because she didn’t want to add to her worries.
Those scoldings were nothing compared to her lady’s peace. For the past few days, her lady had been eating alone in her room, her appetite increased and now, she looked more healthy than usual.
It’s very different from how she looked in the past. So, it’s okay if she was always being scolded. She could endure it as long as her lady could become healthy.
If dining alone can make her relax and comfortable, then nothing else matters.
“Nothing can escape my ears, Auntie Herma. You should have told me about it. It must have been hard for you these past few days. Don’t worry, I will take care of it.” Kira’s tone was very mild and gentle.
Auntie Herma felt the warmth inside. She placed the tray on the table before replying, “I’m fine Lady Kira. They can’t do anything harsh to me. A few little scoldings won’t hurt me. As long as you are okay, then there’s nothing else that matters.”
Kira understood Auntie Herma’s statement. Her care for her is very high and strong and she is willing to endure it all by herself. This time, she smiled gratefully at her and did not say anything.
After eating her sumptuous meal, Auntie Herma took the dishes and left the room. Right after, Bariston appeared in her room and respectfully greeted her.
“Bariston, we need to leave the palace now. I need to go to the Medical Pavilion to buy some herbs.”
The most famous medical shop in the castle is the Medical Pavilion. It is owned by a mysterious merchant. No one saw the owner. Instead, it was only the manager who was often seen inside.
Except for the manager, no one else knew who the owner was. The Medical Pavilion is a very strong force in the entire castle. They sell medical herbs of various kinds, even the rarest ones, they have in their store.
However, the more precious the herbs are, the harder it is for them. No matter what the person’s status is, even her father, the alpha, has to be polite to them.
Even if a person was still offering a hefty amount, they still wouldn't accept as long as that person didn’t pass their test. That’s what’s weird about the Medical Pavilion. For a person to buy something from there, aside from money, they should be able to pass the test.
“Call Auntie Herma back. We have to make sure that no one will enter my room when I go out. We can’t let them suspect me.”
Since the Medical Pavilion only opens during the daytime, she has no choice but to disguise herself to avoid being caught. She also can't entrust these herbs to Bariston because Bariston doesn’t have any idea about medicine and herbs.
Bariston is a strong wolf, but he doesn’t have any basic knowledge about medicine. It’s best for her to personally visit there.
After careful preparations, they finally headed out discreetly. She wore her hooded cloak again and used some make-up to alter her face. She made her skin tone darker, which is very different from her pearl white skin.
But since her red hair is still hard to cover, she has no choice but to hide it in a cloak.
As they reached the medical pavilion, Kira did not hesitate to enter. Fortunately, the guests were busy doing their own tests so no one noticed her arrival.
As Kira looked around the hall, a woman dressed in red clothes came to her side and politely said, “Hi, I’m Katelyn Saige, the manager of the Medical Pavilion. Did you come to our pavilion to buy herbs?”
Kira nodded her head slightly and took a piece of paper she had with her. It was the list written by Althea last night. “I want the herbs on this list.”
Katelyn was still wearing a smile and she took the paper from Kira and said, “As you know, before someone can buy a herb in our medical pavilion, you need to answer the test we prepared. Are you okay with that?”
Kira looked at the wall which had the pasted question that she had to answer. She smiled at Katelyn and took a piece of pen and paper to start answering.
On the wall, the question assigned to her was if a person ingested a Grim Fungus, how can it be treated?
Grim Fungus is a type of plant that is highly toxic. If a person accidentally ingests it, the person will experience extreme hallucinations that will eventually lead to death.
This is indeed difficult to solve. She wasn’t surprised when she was given this question because most of the herbs she wanted were a bit rare.
If she was the same girl in the past, it would be impossible for her to answer it, but she already had this ability of hers and she managed to read the page about Grim Fungus in the Book of History.
Kira wrote down the detoxification method on paper. Then she placed the brush in her hand and handed it to Katelyn.
From beginning to end, Katelyn was observing the cloaked woman. She wasn’t expecting her to answer the question. This question is very difficult and only people who studied medicine can answer it.
But who would have thought that she would carefully write it down on the paper without any second thoughts? And what surprised her, even more, was the answer she wrote down was correct.
It’s even more detailed compared to the answer they had… Just who was this woman?!
