**********************************Macklin******************************* Before I knew it, the week had flown by, and the Summer Festival was here. Of course, in two days, no one wanted to help me with a dress. I didnt have a clue as to what I was to wear; I didnt even know the dress code for it. Thank the goddess for Mre Grace and Livie, I wasnt allowed to be in town. Mrs Grace tried to get him to let me go dress shopping, but that fell on deaf ears. He didn't have any part of it, so they picked out several and brought them back to the house for me to try on. I couldn't see them as I can see some outline of an object, but to see the details is not happening, But I can feel things better than most, Like the softness of a material or how coarse it is. Sometimes, I can tell the color but not the texture of things. I can picture it as I let my hand run over it. I may not be able to see it physically, but mentally, I can. It makes you take things differently. Sure, I miss my sight, but I've learned to see the world in other ways, I had five dresses to choose from; I picked the last one. It was soft against my skin. It felt as if I wasnt wearing a dress. It had a split on the side up to almost my hip, and it fit me perfectly. Im relatively short for a wolf. I'm only five feet tall, not even an inch over or under. I may weigh like a hundred and ten if im soaked and wet. I have always been on the small side. My Mom used to call me her little bean. Now, im not her little bean but a murderer, I was so nervous about attending I knew they would help me while im there, Im was good at navigating myself around, but I knew nothing of where we were going. I had never been off pack lands, let alone to a whole other pack, and it's the Kings. No pressure there, To make matters worse, Colton is taking Maddison because she is my father's Beta's daughter. Yeah, for me, Maddison is one of my biggest tormentors. She and her little minions, I like to call them, None of them can make a decision on anything without Maddison telling them what to choose, When Maddison found out I was to be attending, she made sure to let me know her feelings about it, My mother hasn't even spoken to me other than to tell me not to embarrass them, The day of the Ball was here. Mrs Grace and Livie helped me to get ready. Livie did my hair while Mre Grace did my makeup, for which I was so grateful. If it were up to me, I would have pulled my hair in a ponytail and gone natural. I dont think trying to do eye lines and being blind would turn out so good, "Oh Macklin, you look lovely," Mrs Graces says as she pulls me into a hug, "She right, Macklin you do look good," Livie complements me, "Thank you, both of you," "Macklin, It's time to go!" Mother's voice rang throughout the hall, "Coming, Mother," I called back, Making my way to the stairs, taking one step at a time, making sure to feel for that next step. I felt a slight relief when I reached the bottom. Okay, now it's only twenty steps to the door. You can do this, Macklin, One foot in front of the other, Counting as I took each step so as not to run into the door, I knew they didnt wait for me. They are all outside in the car, It's nothing new for me. This is why I have learned to count on no one but myself, Hearing someone sigh, "Ms Macklin." It was our butler, Earnie, "I see they didn't wait for you again," His hand touched my elbow, "Here, let me," He gently placed my hand in the crook of his elbow. I heard the handle click as fresh air hit my face, "Im sorry, my dear," His voice was low. Earnie was the sweetest person. He has been our butler for as long as I can remember, and he has always been kind to me, even when my family is crude, and makes sure to know that im a nobody and how pathetic I am, "It's okay, Earnie, Im used to it by now," I tell him and try to keep the hurt from my voice, "No, miss, it's not okay. They should be ashamed of themselves," "Macklin, you are always making us late! Hurry up, would you," Colton yells as I hear a snicker from Maddison, I could hear Earnie grumble next to me, squeezing his arm. He guided me to the vehicle and slid in. As the sound of the door closed, I felt the car take off, **************************Gage*************************************** "Gage, Are you not ready yet?" My beta asked as he barged into my room, He threw his hands in the air when he saw me looking out the window. The truth is, I wasnt looking forward to the ball, but my parents have decided to have it every freaking year. I feel it is a waste of time, and I have better things to do, "Dude, your Mom is going to skin me if you dont get yourself dressed and downstairs," Rolling my eyes at him, he was always dramatic, "Calm your horses, will ya? Im going," I move to my closet, grab my clothes, throw them on, and come out, Wasnt going for fancy; I was aiming for casual, I wasnt about to be stuffy in a suit to sit there and listen to the same old crap and watch as every girl tries to get me attention, "See," I held my arms out, "Im ready," Walking to the door, I slapped him on the shoulder. As he rubbed his forehead, "Your mom is going to kill me," He grumbled, "Why cant you do as they ask," "I am. I'm attending to this stupid thing. Am I not?" Sighing, "Yes, but you could have dressed a little nicer if your mom cut my head off and burys me, im coming back to haunt your sorry ass," Like I said, dramatic, The ball had already begun when I walked through the doors. Everyone moved aside, splitting through the middle of the room and letting me through. Gils giggled as I walked by. Some flashed me a flirty smile as the men just watched as I passed, Glaring at me if the girl they were with batted her eyes at me. It is not my fault they picked ones not loyal to them, This ball was called the Summer Festival Ball, and all ranked members attended. My wonderful Mother has made me attend for the last three years; this will be my last as im twenty-five this year. I have not found my mate, She hopes with me attending, I will find my mate. Not that finding my mate would be wrong; Im not the most excellent person when it comes to people. My father is going to hand me the title next week. He is ready to retire. I have been doing most of the work anyway, I sit in my spot, not wanting to talk to anyone. I cant stand when the women throw themselves at you just because you have power, And the men only want to be your friend because of who you are, Alphas brought their families up and introduced them, Making sure to shove their unmated daughter in my face, Suddenly, the most intoxicating scent hits me. My wolf stirs, "Mate," Looking around as the smell started to drift away, Getting up, I follow it, Leading me across the room and out the side door to the gardens. Walking along the path, that's when I found her. She is sitting on a bench, Her head snaps up as she starts to look around, "Hello?" She calls out, her voice music to my ears. She turns her face towards me. I feel like someone sucker-punched me, knocking the air from me, There across her eyes were three long scars. What the hell happened to her? "Is someone there?"Her head twists back and forth "Move, you moron," My wolf chimes in my head. Hes not one to say things. He likes to hang back till he's needed, he can be unruly sometimes, "Look, I know someone is there," How can she know that? "Our scent," My wolf does off again, Stepping closer, "Hello there,"
