Chapter1
**********************************Macklin********************************
Giggling, I rolled over, letting the sunshine on my face and closing my eyes; it was warm today as spring was getting closer.
"Macklin, come. We need to clean up and head back to the pack house,"
"But P. Can we stay longer," I whined, not wanting to return inside. I was having fun playing and laughing with P. I didnt want it to end. Once we got back home, she would have to go back to her Luna studies,
"No, We have been out here for a few hours to go back," She started to pack up the basket,
Sticking my bottom lip out, I pouted, looking at my sister, "Pretty please, P."
Stopping, she looked over, dropping the containers. She pounced on me, tickling me,
"P Stopp," I laughed out as I tried getting away from her, "Oh no, you dont," She held me down, attacking my sides again,
"You gonna be good and help me pack up?"
"YES S S S S S S," I giggled out,
She blew raspberries on my stomach before letting me go,
I helped her gather everything up, placing it back in the basket. Once we cleaned it up, she took my hand, walking us back down the dirt path toward the house,
"P, What's that smell." I pitched my nose as the smell was horrible,
Just then, a wolf jumped out, blocking our path; it growled, snapping its jaws at us. I let out a scream as P Pulled me behind her,
"You are trespassing on White Tooth lands, Leave now!"
The wolf only growled more, taking a step toward us. It lunged for us, but P kicked it in the side of its head, knocking it down and giving us time to run. She pulled me along I tripped but she kept pulling me. She finally stopped,
"Macklin, I want you to run down that path there. It will take to the house run as fast as you can find Mom and Dad,"
Rustling came from behind us,
"Go, Macklin. I will lead them away,"
"No, P, I cant," I cried as I tried grabbing her shirt. She shook her head, "No, Macklin, you need to run,"
The wolf from before came running at us,
P shoved me, "Go!" She turned and ran straight at the wolf, which tackled her to the ground. I couldn't run; I was frozen.
She fought him with everything she had, but she wasnt able to shift. She wasnt old enough yet. The wolf got his jaw around her neck, snapping it,
I screamed; its eye landed on me, dropping her from his mouth. Her body fell to the ground,
The wolf began stalking towards me, but my eyes were stuck on P's body, which was lying there. The wolf shifted, and standing in front of me was a man I had never seen. He crouched down. His eyes looked me up and down,
"And who might you be?" He asked, reaching a hand out to touch me. I finally snapped out of my daze. I slapped it away before he touched my arm,
"Oh, so feisty, " he laughed. Reaching out again, I slapped his hand once again,
"Dont touch me,"
His face held amusement as he looked at me. A loud howl was heard. I smiled inside. I knew who that belonged to; he was coming. My father was coming to rescue us. I listened to the paws hitting the ground as they got closer.
"Looks like my times up," He stood. His hand moved so fast I never saw it coming. Swiping his hand in front of me,
Screaming as I sat up, I was sweaty and breathing hard,
"Macklin," I heard Mrs Grace's voice, "Shh, It's okay," Her arms wrapped around my shoulder as she sat next to me,
Letting my head fall to her shoulder, I tried to calm my breathing. It was the same dream I had had since I was eight years old,
Running my hands over my face, feeling to see if it was wet, I felt Mrs grace's hands grab my wrist,
"There's nothing there, sweety. You are not bleeding,"
She already knows what I was trying to find. I saw the faint glow of a light, knowing she turned my bedside lamp on,
"Same dream again?" She asked, her voice soft, nodding my head. She wiped my face with a tissue paper as she brushed the hair out of my face,
"Everything alright in here?"
I heard my father's voice. I turned my head toward where I heard it come from, but I could only see a blurred figure,
"Yes, Alpha, just a dream. I will help her get back to sleep," Mrs Grace told him,
"Good," was all he said before I heard his footstep walking away,
"Here, lay back down, Macklin," She helped me to lay back, pulling the covers back over me, "Mrs Grace," I call her,
"Yes, sweety,"
"Can I have one of my pills, please? I dont think I will be able to sleep without it tonight,"
"Sure, let me just grab it, "
I could hear her moving around the room, walking into the bathroom, and then coming back out,
"Here, Sweety, hold your hand out,"
I did as she asked, feeling her place something in my palm; feeling it with my fingers, I placed it in my mouth as she put a cup in my hand, guiding it to my lips,
"You need anything else?" She asked as the cup made a clung noise as she set it on my stand,
"No, I think im okay now, Thank you, Mrs Grace,"
"Sweety, how many times have I told you it's just Grace to you,"
"Im sorry. I'll try and remember that, Grace,"
I felt her kiss my forehead, her footsteps leaving the room. The door clicked shut,
Sighing, I shut my eyes and let sleep set in again. Hopefully, this time, I dream of something happy,
The sound of my alarm beep jolted me awake. Reaching over, feeling for it, When I find it, I press the button on the top,
Cutting the annoying noise off, 'ugh finally' flopping back on the bed,
Laying there for a few minutes, I got myself up,
'Ten steps to the door,' I tell myself, handing out as I count. Reaching the door, I push it out my way, 'to steps to the left.' I feel the counter, using it to guide myself over to the toilet. Doing my business, I moved around the bathroom using my counting and my hands. I got my shower done and made it to my closet,
Feeling each tag, letting my finger run over it, I picked out my clothes for the day, Brushed my hair out, and pulled it into a ponytail. I didn't care for fancy hairstyles or fancy clothes. Looks were unimportant; no one in this house cared what I looked like and wouldn't help me if it was the last thing they did. I was nothing more than a blind, useless person who was responsible for the death of my older sister,
Yes, Im blind. I lost my eyesight when I was eight when a rogue attacked me and my sister on our way back from a picnic. She lost her life protecting me, and I lost my sight, but I also lost my family that day; they all blame me for P's death, saying I should have done something to help her. I was eight. I was scared. How was I to help her? I couldn't shift. She couldn't either, But they found it in themselves to blame me,
Im now Eighteen. I had my first shift last week on my birthday, which none of my family helped me through even though my father is the Alpha here,
Instead, Mrs Grace and her husband Ernie, our butler helped me through it. Mrs. Grace has taken it upon herself to help me over the years; she taught me how to move throughout the house and count my steps. She even had someone come in and teach me how to read and write. I had a tutor come for my studies as my father did not let me attend school.
They may have let me stay in this house, but it was far from home. My parents hardly spoke to me unless it was necessary. My brother hated me as well. He would purposely do things to watch me trip and fall or move things so I would bump into them or knock something over, breaking it and then laughing as my parents scolded me,
The only people who ever cared are Ernie and Grace,
