********************************Macklin****************************** Making my way down the steps, I could hear the chatter of everyone coming from the dining area. I do not ever sit in there, but I prefer to sit in the kitchen with the omegas. At least they do not judge me or treat me any differently, "Ah, good morning, Macklin," Ernie's voice was always chipper. "Good morning, Ernie. How is your morning?" Reaching the last step, I stopped keeping my hand on the railing. I could tell Enrie was right there, and I could smell his cologne. "Very well, Thank you. Here, allow me," I felt his hand on my elbow. Taking the last step, He placed my hand in the crook of his elbow, "Thank you, Enrie," I tell him, "It is my pleasure, young lady, " He led me to the kitchen, where the smell of breakfast filled my nose, and my stomach grumbled, "Oh, it smells so good in here, " He tells them as we walk in. I could hear them all giggling, "Macklin, I saved you a seat over here," The one girl calls out. I hear her approaching as her hand touches my shoulder, "Good morning, Livie. How are you this morning?" I know it's her because of her smell. She smells like strawberries, "Livie. Macklin sits in the same spot daily, so how did you save her a seat?" Mrs Grace chimes at her, I laugh when Livie scoffs, "I was just being polite, Mrs. Grace," Livie says, But then mumbles something under her breath, "What was that?" Mrs. Grace asks, making Livie call out a 'Nothing.' Placing a hand on Livie's shoulder, "Thank you, Livie, I appreciate your help," I can feel the happiness flowing out of this girl. She is always happy no matter what, "You are welcome." She tugs my hand softly, I let her lead me over to my saved seat, make sure not to laugh, "Better go help Livie. Don't want to get into trouble now," I tell her, then hear her walk away, "Here you go, my dear, orange juice, freshly squeezed," Enries' voice is next to me, and he places my hand on the glass. "Thank you." There a loud crash coming from the other room, Enrie sighs but walks away, no doubt to clean up whatever just got spilled. "Your breakfast, sweety," The smell of pancakes fills the air around me, Blueberry at that, "Thank you," I grab the syrup put some on the pancakes, picking up my fork i spread it around, I can hear voices arguing from the other room, well more like shrieking than anything. I know that shrieking anywhere. That's Maddison, Colton's girlfriend, Not his mate but his girlfriend of three years, I would bet she's the reason for that loud crash earlier. She likes to through fits and feels she can get away with it cause she dating the Alpha son, I hear the door swing open, "Grace, my dear, can you redo these pancakes," "Redo them why?" "Um, well, Maddison says they were too burnt for her to eat," "Oh, she did now? Well, I hate to break to her, but im not redoing them. She can go hungry or cook something for herself," I could hear her throwing the food away as she dropped the plate in the sink. Mrs Grace is always calm she easy going and a wonderful person, but Maddison brings out another side of Mrs Grace, "No, dear, come on, we dont want the Luna coming in here or Colton cause the princess is hungry," Enrie says calmly to his wife, "That girl needs an attitude adjustment, Im tired of this. She always does this; she wastes more food than the whole pack eats in a day," "I know, dear, but we cant go against the Alpha and Luna," "Fine," I hear her say, "That girl is impossibly so rude," "I dont know what he sees in her. She likes an ugly duckling," Some of the others in the kitchen mumble, and I laugh to myself hearing them. Maddison makes everyone's life miserable. She is always yelling at the staff or accusing them of trying to sleep with Colton. She is so possessive of him. I feel sorry for his mate when he finds her, The dining area becomes quiet as everyone has finished and left to start their day. Grace and the others go out to start cleaning up, Leaving me alone in the kitchen to finish my food, I finished my breakfast just as his smell hit my nose, "Colton," I said his name. His footsteps stop, "I was told to tell you to go to fathers office when you are done," His voice held so much hatred. I used to cringe when he spoke to me in that tone, but not anymore. I have grown used to it, "I will be there. Just let me take care of my plate," I stand moving around the table, I know the kitchen well I know where all the cabinets are the chairs even the stove and sink I know how many steps its takes to get across it. But I should have known better with Colton being in here, I tripped on the leg of a chair that was not in its right place, Dropping my plate and hearing it shatter as soon as it hit the floor, Hearing a laugh come from Colton, "So pathetic," His steps moved away from me, going out of the room, Footsteps come running as the door hinges squeak, "Macklin, are you alright?" Ernie's voice is close. His hand touched my shoulder, "Yes, just misjudge a little," I kneel, feeling for the pieces on the floor, "Careful, Macklin, you will cut yourself," His hand grabbed my wrist, "I'll clean this up. Why don't you continue with what you need to do," "Thank you, Ernie," I tell him. He helps me step over the broken plate, Using my hands, I guide myself out of the kitchen, going to my father's office. He only ever has me come here when he's yelling at me about how useless I am or if I broke something, which usually means Colton set me up like this morning, 'Fifty steps, then turn right at the end of the hall, then thirty steps to his office door,' I always tell myself how many steps there are and where they are. I do have a walking stick I usually use outside, though in the house, I count, plus I remember most of how it was before I lost my sight, Reaching his door, I know I found it as his scent is strong here, A woody musky smell, Knocking, I wait for him to call out; I do not go unless he calls for me to enter. I made that mistake once and learned my lesson well, A few minutes go by when I hear him, "Come in," His deep voice rumbles against my skin. Pushing the door open, I make sure to count in my head and not bump into anything not in front of him. I do not want him yelling at me for anything. He thinks I'm weak, useless, and a waste of space. I do not need to add to it, Reaching the chairs in front of his desk, i place my hand on the top of the back, "You wanted to see me Alpha," Yes, I call him ALpha as he told me I was no longer his daughter, so there, for I can no longer call him my father, "Yes, Sit down, Macklin," Swallowing hard, sit down, he never wants me to sit down. Stepping around the chair, feeling with the tip of my shoe, I sit in the chair, "I called you here because the Summer Festival Ball is next week. I usually know you do not attend such events, but this year is different. I'm being questioned about you, as no one has seen you at these events. The King sent me a letter stating all rank wolves must attend this year, And seeing as you are of my blood, you must attend," I gulped. Me? attended a ball? I had never even been to town, let alone go to a ball. "Alpha, do you feel it necessary for me to attend? I have never been to one and would hate to cause a fuss," I hear him growl lowly at my question, "You do not have a choice in the matter. My hand is being forced, and they will surely send someone if you do not show up. I'm not looking to have my pack evaluated because of you," I hang my head, I may not be able to see him, but I know when to submit, "Yes, Alpha, I understand," "Good, now get out of my office, I'm tired of looking at you," "Yes, Alpaha," I stand, trying not to trip but to get out at a quick pace. Once I step out into the hall, I let out a breath, He always brings out the fear in me. I know I shouldn't be afraid of my own father, but that man in there stopped being my father the day P died,
