Chapter 28

1773 Words
Ryker POV I paced outside her hospital room. I had her moved into the VIP suite area. She was the Luna, I wanted to make sure she was comfortable. It has been two weeks since the fight. I didn't want to leave her but I needed to keep the pack up and running still. "What if she wakes up when we aren't here? She will think that we left her, deserted her. All alone by herself in this room!" My wolf cried and he hadn't stopped worrying and whining since day one. I understood he was worried but it was making me feel insane on the inside. His constant mumbling and being on high alert was draining. It was unfair of me to put all responsibility on Asher. I knew it was his role as Beta to be present when the Alpha was absent or unfit to lead. My wolf agreed I should stay absent and let Asher handle it all. We let Grants body go back home to his parents, they were not happy. In fact information from Anna's father was sent and he was going to start a war. Man was just as delusional as his son. Probably where he got it from. I don't know what he expected her or me to do. If he would stop and think about it logically he would do the same or his mate would do the same in that current situation. It was messy none the less. Regardless of the outcome of what is to be, I'm glad the a*****e is dead. I would of killed him myself if she wouldn't of been able to in the end. I stopped pacing and looked at her body. Her color was starting to slowly come back but she still had a glow to her. Her usual pale and creamy skin, looks as if she's spent three months on vacation on a beach somewhere tropical. Her hair was also different. It was blonde with silver hues and pin straight. It was like light was still shinning inside of her. She's was still beautiful. It was amazing what her wolf transformation done. Her wolf eyes were a bright blue. They looked like the depths of the ocean. l wondered now if they would change too, like everything else. I walked back in and went straight for her bed. I leaned down and whispered in her ear "I love you, please don't wake until I return." I pet her head and smoothed back her hair, gazing upon her lovingly before leaving. I had business to attend to. I linked Asher, Kingston, and a few others. "Get your things together we are leaving in twenty. We will settle things with Alpha Duncan." Asher responded quickly "I don't know if that's wise to do, I know you're angry but let's discuss this in your office?" I gritted my teeth, he was so level headed "Fine meet in my office in twenty." I walked to my room and everyone I passed dropped their gaze to the ground. No one dared to ask about their Luna. They knew her health wasn't ideal at the moment. I knew Asher had kept everyone updated. It was killing me not being able to do anything other than hold her and her hand. My wolf and I felt helpless. I opened the door to my room and looked around. It felt empty, just like me. I needed a shower. I walked over into the bathroom and turned the hot water on. I turned the hot to where I could barely stand it and walked into the shower. I stood there a long while thinking and replaying that night. It was dreadful and sad. So many wolves lost their lives, for what? His lies. He lied to them. Some of them I know couldn't of cared less but some, like the ones we saved, did care. They didn't realize how badly they were treating her inside as they were in the outside camp a few miles away from the house. I sighed and began washing the dirt and grime from my body. I let the warmth of the water lift my soul and spirit. In that moment I prayed to the Moon Goddess for the protection over my Mate. I did this nightly and sometimes randomly throughout the day. I got out of the shower and shrugged clothes on. I walked to my office and stood outside the door. They were all there, chatting amongst themselves. I walked in and they all stood, bowing their heads down, exposing their necks as a sign of submitting to their Alpha. "Asher," I started as I sat down and motioned for them to all have a seat "I was not thinking clearly earlier. I was angry and caught up in the many thoughts and conversations between myself and my wolf. We need to devise a plan so we can talk things out with Alpha Duncan. Any ideas?" I leaned back into my seat and sighed. I had to make things right with them, just had to. They had to see that there was no way around it. If it was her; my mate, my life, and my love over him, he should understand. I heard them speaking over different ways but they came up short. I took a glass of bourbon and sipped it slowly. I stared into the glass my memories of that night flooding back to me like always. I, once again, was lost in my thoughts. "Alpha, hello? Alpha?" I finally looked up and see Asher, Kingston, and my sister looking at me. When the hell did she get here? "Did you hear a word I said?" Her brows were raised and I shook my head and they moved immediately into a frown. "I'm sorry, I didn't. What were you saying? I was lost in my thoughts, again." I had a sad expression on my face. "I can go. With Asher and Kingston of course. I heard that the Beta, Liam will be moving ahead as the new Alpha considering that Grant was the only son and only child the Alpha and Luna had." She looked at me seriously. "I can talk with them, make them understand. Plus Kingston needs to move his mate here." I nodded to her "I want you guys to exercise caution though. He's unstable and might want to get even. I want to go, but I can't leave her here alone." My head dropped and Asher had rested his hand on my shoulder. "Alpha I will make sure she is safe, and will tell them I am acting Alpha of Green Woodland because your efforts are distracted by the recovering of our Luna." I nodded and stood "Keep me updated and be careful, sister." "I will brother. We will leave in two days. Let's start planning how the hell we will get through their border." I heard her talking as I walked out of the room. If anything was to happen to me she would make a hell of a leader. I walked slowly down the hallway and stopped at the stairs landing. I felt a wave of heat surge through my body that brought me to my knees. My insides felt like a fire was burning through them and I yelled out of pain. My voice boomed and echoed off the high ceilings and I heard footsteps rushing forward. My body twisted in ways I didn't think was possible and I felt myself being lifted in the air only to be dropped. I gritted my teeth as I heard a voice curse at the heat radiating from my body. "Get ice water, we must cool him down!" An older voice came through the foggy cloud. "And a lot of it." My head thudded in pain as a gloved hand moved me over to my back and my eyes opened up to look to see the pack doctor. "Anna.. It's Anna's wolf, I can feel her again, leave me help her." His eyebrows shot up and he got on his phone. He spoke quickly to a nurse to get staff to Anna's room. I felt all of my muscles tightening once again as heat surged through me for a second time. It was torture. My skin was drenched in my own sweat. I closed my eyes as the pain subsided some and relaxed as I felt cold compress over my body. I opened my eyes again as I was being lifted onto a gurney and transported. I looked at the old man and he smiled down at me "Have no worries, your mate is in the beginning stages of coming out of her coma. My staff found her clawing at the ventilator tube. Your wolf must be reaching to hers and the Goddess is having your bond help her healing process. Very rare and hardly ever seen." He placed an ice cold cloth on my forehead and I closed my eyes again. I could feel my wolf immediately relax and his tail wag, even through the pain. Our mate was going to be safe and she's going to live! Another heat wave washed over me as my veins and organs felt like they were burning. I clinched my teeth and growled out in a roar from the pain. This was the worst one yet. My wolf and I could barely take the pain and burning of it. I rolled and nearly off the gurney before the pack doctors hand pulled me back. Another wave of cold ice was being placed on my body and it melted quickly. The staff around me was sweating and my clothes were now soaked. I felt her then. I could feel her awareness as we boarded the elevator. Just like that the burning sensation was gone and everyone could feel it. I sat straight up and swung my legs over the side and stood. "I can feel her presence. She isn't in any pain either. Also, my wolf can feel hers." He was prancing about happy for his mate. "Do you think you can walk? I'm worried about the heat waves that have come over you." He was very concerned looking. "Honestly I think I'm fine. I think its over." The ding from the elevator told us we were on her floor and I could smell her, yet her scent was different. It somehow smelled better. Wildflowers and vanilla with a hint of lavender that was never there before. I ran to her room, disregarding the pack doctors protests and opened the door to my mates room.
