Chapter 27

1848 Words
Ryker POV I watched my mate in awe, horror, or was it shock? Whatever it was, it captivated everyone on both sides of the fight. She was glowing, her skin was brighter and leaked through her fur. It was as if the light from the sun was shooting through her skin trying to get out. Amazingly beautiful and scary of you were on the receiving end. You could hear how angry she and her wolf was. It practically seeped out of her. The scene we stumbled upon was gruesome. The building was starting to crumble, windows shattered and I have never been so worried and proud in all of my life. For the first time in my Alpha status I didn't know what to do. I just watched her telling him off. Just when we were all distracted a movement as someone stabbed my mate in the neck and his hand was ripped from his body. A growl ripped through my body and it was an all out war. More wolves poured out of the woods, not anything we couldn't handle. A wolf jumped me from the side and another lunged at me. Ashers wolf was there to intercept him as I slung the other into an oak tree, his spine cracking. I moved on and took on two smaller and but strong wolves. They were growling and showing their teeth. One circled around behind and I turned to the side, keeping both in my vision as best as I could. I could see my pack pushing through the fight with ease, the every day traning sessions coming in handy now. Suddenly they both lunged at the same time and I moved forward with ease letting them collide into one another. I turned quickly, my paw coming up and swiping at the lighter brown and white wolf. Blood gushed out of his side as he staggered back. The other growled loudly and came at me full force. I tumbled with him and landed on my back, using my back paws and kicking him off. I jumped back up and onto the wolf ripping his throat out. I ran through the middle of the fight and ripped and slashed through the mess of the wolves. Having enough of the fight and seeing the rest of the wolves cowering were not much older than 18 to 20 I let a growl out, my Alpha Aurora push through the field. Instantly the fighting stopped on both sides. My pack and the others heads going down outbof respect and submitting. "You have been guided through lies and deceit! Stop fighting us and listen to the truth! Join the right fighting side or you will die today!" I boomed across the battlefield to the handful of young wolves. They laid down on the ground showing they were one hundred submitted to my pack. "You will serve as a witness as to our humanity to others that we saved you today." I walked back through the field to my Mate. I seen her wolf for the first time since the fight and her jaw was locked around Grants neck, blood pouring out. Light was coming out of her and it was nearly blinding. As I approached her I felt the heat flowing from her body. I had to look down as I approached her slowly. Her wolf was completely in control, growling and shaking from all of the anger she has suppressed over time. I completely understood, if she didn't kill Grant, I would. Her beautiful fur was red from all of the blood from her and the others. I could tell Grants life was at an end, the blood that poured out onto the ground was barely a slow trickle. I tried to link her but she wouldn't let the wall down. I let a soft whimper out and began nuzzling into her. I felt her body instant relax as she shape shifted back. She looked weak, sick. I shape shifted back to my human form. "Anna!" I shouted but it was like she didn't hear me. Her eyes were still halfway glazed as she smiled at me. "I love you." She spoke softly and she collapsed at me feet. "Anna!" I screamed. My wolf howled and we were surrounded by our pack. "We have to get her back quickly! We have to! To the pack hospital! Let's go! I need to shift and carry her. Someone find something to strap her to me with hurry!" My men hurried as I watched my mate. She was so brave and so strong. She saved her own life and the many lives of our pack members. Not a single member was lost in today's fight. She had to survive. Her heartbeat was faint and her breathing was shallow, but it was there. I had tears streaming down my face as I watched her struggling on the ground. "We found something!" I heard someone yell as they ran to me with a couple of straps. "That will have to do. There will be absolutely no stopping for me. If you're tired, stop. But I can't stop she will die if I do." They nodded and I shifted into my wolf. He howled and licked her face. I laid down as they pulled her into my fur and covered her in blankets to help keep her body warm. They wrapped straps around my body, I stood some so they could get them around my body. They tightened them, pulling her body closer to my own. I could feel her human side slipping away and her wolf was afraid. As soon as it was ready I tore off in the quickest direction and path towards the packhouse. It took us nearly two days to reach her, but we were following a winding trail. It was hard to follow but the straight shot should put me there before the sun rose in the morning. Ten hours. I prayed to the Moon Goddess that it wouldn't be too late. To keep my mate safe. I couldn't live without her. I pushed hard and my pack was trailing not too far behind me. No one stopped. I kept the link closed off only opening once in a while to check in on any updates. Five hours out. My lungs were burning, the padding on my paws aching. I can't stop. Her breathing was labored and I could barely hear her heart beat now. She was fading. It pushed me to run faster and harder. One hour out I was exhausted, tired, hungry, hurting. I shoved it all aside for her. I opened my link "Someone shift and let the hospital know I'm running in full force and to get something ready for her NOW!" and shut the link up. I couldn't listen to their worries, doubts, fears for their Luna. My brave mate. My dying mate. No, I can't think of that! Stay strong don't give up on our mate! She will make it, she has to. We still have so many plans and our whole future ahead of us. My wolf whimpered as she struggled to breathe, even he was fearing the worst fate of our beautiful, strong, and brave mate. I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realize I broke the doors of the hospital. I growled at the pain and immediately was swarmed with a team of our pack doctors and nurses. They unstrapped her and put her on a gurney. I shifted back to my human form and ran down the halls after them. I didn't care that I was completely naked, I'd find something to put on later. As if to read my mind a nurse chased me down and was waving a pair of black scrubs at me. "Alpha here put this on. I need to know what exactly happened out there so they can help her." I stepped into the surprisingly comfortable scrub bottoms and talked to the nurse. I told her everything. Her wolf doubling in size the beams of light coming out of her, the heat radiating from her body, her eyes glazed but a bright blue glaze. The needle that they put into her body before everything. She jotted it down quickly and took off sprinting. I followed after her and we both busted through two double doors. They what her already hooked up to machines. I fell to my knees when I seen her. My heart broke into a million pieces. My strong mate looked so fragile and weak. A doctor walked over to me and kneeled down. "Cmon Alpha lets assess your injuries and I'll catch you up to our findings. And don't worry, the ventilator is helping her breathe and giving her a break." I nodded and stood looking at the older man. I followed him into an exam room as him and a nurse started cleaning my wounds on my hands and feet from the hard nonstop running. "She is in a coma. I don't know for how long she will be in one, but she is in one. She may have succumbed to exerting too much strength from what you told our nurse. It seems to have overwhelmed her body. We will make her comfortable and we can just wait and help her body heal from injection of wolfsbane that also had silver mixed in." I nodded as he spoke. "She isn't healing herself?" I frowned. "She is but honestly, I don't know how that dose they gave her, didn't kill her. We are running labs right now to understand better. Her veins at the injection site were black in color. She still may not recover." He frowned and was obviously also puzzled and worried for her life. I was too, because black veins only come from a lethal dose of silver. It will end up killing us but she grew stronger, I seen it. But she collapsed afterwards and now I was worried she wasn't going to make it. "I'm going to need a cot in her room." I demanded, I was not leaving her side again. Wasn't going to do it, they couldn't make me. If they didn't like it, I would use my Alpha tone on them. "We already have you a bed made up, right next to hers, Alpha." He smiled and stood, walking out. I walked back to her room. Seeing her hooked up to the machines was not an easy thing to look at. I couldn't help myself and crawled into the small bed with her, halfway hanging off of it. I held her close and my wolf whimpered and cried out at how weak she was. He was afraid and so was I. She still may not make it. I whispered softly into her ear "Please come black to me, to us. Don't you dare let the Moon Goddess take you from us. We all still need you." Tears streamed down my face for the first time. I was truly afraid of losing my mate.
