I moved a bit. I don’t know how long I’ve been sleeping but I’m still sleepy that I cannot open my eyes. I could feel someone staring at me. Where am I? Am I dead? I tried to remember what happened and fear engulfed me when I realized my situation. I tried opening my eyes again and this time I succeeded. The first thing I saw was a man’s face. The Alpha’s face was just inches away from mine.
“She’s awake!” Alpha Duke said.
“Let me see her.” Another man in a white coat came to me. He had this light thing on and was pointing it towards my eyes while she opened it wider.
“How is she? Is she fine?” Alpha Duke said. Am I hearing the concern in his voice?
The man left my eyes and touched my forehead. He then stood straight and turned to Alpha Duke.
“She only has a slight fever but overall, she’s fine now. Her bruises will fade soon.” He said.
“Thank you, Doc.” Alpha Duke said. So he might be their pack’s doctor.
“Alright, I’ll leave you two alone.” He said.
The man left and I was alone with the Alpha.
“How are you feeling?” He asked me.
“I’m fine.” I cannot look directly at him. I still cannot believe that he is my mate.
“Do you want something to eat?” He looked so gentle now unlike what I saw last night when he knocked that man out.
“No, I said I’m fine,” I said a little bit rude.
“Alright, I’m sorry,” He said. “If you need anything, just tell me.”
“Are you my mate?” I asked bravely. Was my memory true or was it just my imagination? But I think what I’m feeling towards his presence would answer my question. I can smell and feel him.
“Yes, I am.” He said without blinking.
“So, what happens now?” My voice was as soft as that of a scared kitten. I’m afraid that my old pack would find out that I am here and they will kill my mate.
“What do you mean what happens now? You are staying here with me. You are my mate, our Luna.” He said as if it was the most obvious thing to do.
“I can’t stay here,” I said staring at the wall.
“What?! What do you mean?” He was shocked and I could see it clearly on his face.
“I’m sorry but I can’t stay here.” An entire pack is set to look for me. In no time, they’ll be here and I don’t want anyone in here to get harmed, especially my mate.
“Care to explain why you can’t? Are you rejecting me as your mate?” He sounded hurt and in pain upon saying that. Of course, I don’t reject him. I just don’t want him to be hurt or worst die.
“No! I’m not! It’s just too complicated right now. I am in a situation where settling isn’t an option.” I said.
“Can you tell me what exactly are you doing on our territory last night?” He said with a suspicious look in his eyes.
“I’m sorry I can’t but I promise you I’m not a spy.” I said. I don’t want him to get into trouble with my old pack. They are powerful and I don’t want to be the reason why they would fight this pack here.
“Then, I won’t let you go unless you tell me the truth. You tell me what you are running from. Until then, you’re staying here with me.” He said.
“What? No! I have to leave as soon as possible!” I said.
“No, I won’t let you and that is final. Now, rest and get your strength back.” He said.
“Where am I?” I asked him.
“You’re in my room.” He said casually.
“What?!” I said.
‘He’s your mate, that’s normal for you to be here ' Rein said.
“Why? Is there a problem with that?” He said.
I shook my head.
“Alright, rest for now. We’ll have dinner later. I’m sure you’ll be hungry by then.” He said as he stood up from the chair beside me.
He went to the door and took one last glance at me before he opened it and left.
‘Wow! Our mate is the Alpha and he is so hot and handsome!’
“Yeah, he is,” I said. It’s true, I find him hot and handsome.
‘I wish we could stay. Can’t we?’ Rein said.
“No, we can’t. It will only harm our mate.” I said.
‘That’s too bad. I’ve been meaning to kiss him and hug him.’
“I know, Rein, I can feel it too but we have to restrain from doing that. We have to think of the greater good.”
I need to get out of here. If sacrificing my mate means he’ll be unharmed then I would do it. I need to escape and ran away as far as possible.
