Chapter 8   Sophia’s P.O.V   “Watch your mouth, young lady.” My mom said, scolding me and I lowered my eyes, feeling guilty.   “Sorry, mom.” I said, apologizing. I had never used bad language in front of my parents before, but I was shocked, stunned, surprised, happy, excited, nervous and anxious, all rolled into one.   “She’s about to drive up to the house, so you need to be ready. If you're not ready to see her then I can tell her you're not home.” My mom said, looking hopeful, which confused me.   “No, no, mom, I’m ready. I’m nervous, but I’m ready.” I replied and my mom nodded.   “Alright then, well, freshen up and come downstairs.” My mom said and I quickly nodded. My mom left the room, closing the door behind her and I hurried into the bathroom, brushed my teeth and hair, then looked at myself in the mirror.   “Am I really ready to meet her? Well, if I’m not, it's too late now.” I said, giving myself a little pep talk. I walked out of my room and down the stairs, out the front door and stood next to my mom and dad, waiting for Casey to pull up. Twenty minutes went by and then I saw a Lamborghini driving up the driveway, but I was so nervous that I hid behind my dad. He patted my arm, knowing that I was really nervous and scared. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it would beat right out of my chest. The car pulled up in front of the house, parked up and not just Casey, but five others got out. They all walked towards the house and stopped at the bottom of the steps.   “Hi, my name is Casey and I know this is going to sound weird, but I’m looking for a girl named Sophia. My mom and dad adopted her when she was just a little baby.” Casey said and I looked through my dad's arm to see that she was looking down at her hands. I tried to see what she was looking at and found that she was holding a photo of our parents. Her eyes held nervousness as she looked back up at where we were standing.   “I believe you took her back.” Casey said and handed them the photo. My mom looked down at the photo and smiled, making me smile too when I saw it.   “Yes, I remember the day we took this photo, but I didn’t know your mother kept it. So, you’re wondering about Sophia.” My mom said, glancing out the corner of my eye.   “Yes ma’am, I was wondering how she is doing and if I could see her, well, if she wants to see me, unless she’s not here. I really don’t remember her, but I want to get to know her. I do have some questions, like why my parents wouldn't tell me about her.” Casey replied and my mom sighed. She looked at me and I nodded, as I walked out from behind my dad.   “Hi, my name is Sophia.” I said and walked down the steps to her. I looked at her and couldn’t stop myself as I pulled her into a hug. She was here, she was really here and she was here to see me. She found me and I couldn’t be any happier, even though I wish she would remember me in some part, but I would remember enough for the both of us.   “I was wondering if you were ever going to find me or look for me. I’m sorry you don’t remember me, but I remember you.” I said, hugging Casey tightly and not wanting to let go of her, but then I smelled this wonderful scent of blueberries and cheesecake. I looked up to see this man approaching me, smiling at me.   “Mate. Mine.” I said, looking into Guss’s eyes.    “Mate. Mine.” Gus said, repeating the words I had longed to hear as he looked into my eyes and I couldn’t tear my gaze from him, which made Casey laugh under her breath.   “Hi, I’m Sophia.” I said, introducing myself.   “Hey, I’m Guss.” He replied and the sound of his voice sent shivers down my spine.    “This is my mate Ryan and his sister Katherine and her mate Terry, this as you now know is Guss, one of our guards and that's Ricky, another of our guards.” Casey said, introducing everyone.   “Okay guys, let's go inside and talk, I think we all need to do this.” My dad said as he and my mom smiled at all of us. We walked inside with me and Casey linking arms with each other, but all the time we were looking at our mates. My mom and dad sat next to each other on the love seat, while Guss grabbed me and sat me on his lap, making me blush in the process, but Guss just smiled at me. Casey and Ryan sat on the other couch and Katherine and her mate Terry sat on the other chairs, while Ricky stood by the door. No one spoke for a few minutes, which made the atmosphere really uncomfortable, but what were we supposed to say to each other? I had waited for this for years, but I had no idea what to say and from the looks of it neither did Casey.   “Okay, there's a huge pink elephant in the room, so I guess I’m going to be the first one to ask the questions that need to be asked. How come you never looked for Casey? Why did you leave? Why doesn’t she remember you and yet you remember her?” Katherine asked, breaking the silence. How do me or my parents begin to explain all of this, when it was not only so long ago, but it always seemed like a painful subject for my mom to talk about. I don’t know why I was out in the woods that day because they never told me and I never asked because when I first got here every time I did it seemed to upset my mom, so I stopped asking.
