Casey’s P.O.V
Sophia’s parents took a huge deep breath before letting it out and when I looked at Sophia she looked like she didn't have a clue what to say. A few minutes went by and I realised that I still didn’t know what her parent’s names were.
“Excuse me, I don’t mean to seem or sound rude, but what are your names?” I asked, knowing that Sophia was too overwhelmed to tell me when we first met.
“Oh, I’m sorry, my name is Luna Bonnie and this is my husband and mate, Alpha Mark.” The woman I now knew as Luna Bonnie replied, smiling weakly at me. She seemed a little bit more uncomfortable with me being here than what Alpha Mark and Sophia did, but I just put it down to the weird situation we were currently in. the room went back into its uncomfortable silence and Katherine sighed as her questions still hadn’t been answered. Sophia’s father went to open his mouth and say something, when all of a sudden Sophia spoke up.
“Wait mom, dad, I think I need to explain. When Micheal and Susan found me, I’m sorry, I mean mom and dad found me….” I started to say and everyone looked at me shocked.
“I still call them my parents and my mom and dad don’t mind, after all they raised me for the first few years of my life. I know you don’t remember this, but please let me explain everything before you ask any questions you have.” I said and Casey nodded as everyone followed suit.
“From what I remember about when they found me I was lost and couldn’t find my way back home. When they found me they took me back home, cleaned me up and gave me food and drink. After a few days they adopted me, but they didn’t know that I was a werewolf. Casey, I know you won’t remember this, but we were playing on the floor in the living room with our dolls, when there was a knock at the door. I was twelve years old then, but when a she-wolf, if she is Alpha born then she will shift when she is thirteen instead of like everyone else who will shift at the normal age of fifteen. My parents came looking for me and Casey, you have to understand that your….our mom and dad wouldn’t have been able to help me. If I had shifted they wouldn’t have known what to do and I could have died without any help.” Sophia said, but a few things didn’t add up to me.
“Yeah, I can understand, I really do, but some things don’t make sense. How come I don’t remember having a sister when you were twelve years old when you left. I know there was a spell, but that doesn’t explain why I would forget that much, did something else happen?” I asked and Sophia looked confused when I asked this, but then her dad cleared his throat.
“Your mother and father knew it would be highly upsetting for you because you and Sophia were extremely close. If one of you got hurt or was upset then the other would feel it as if it were their own pain, that’s how close you were. Your parents were worried about you, so I told them about a witch that would clear your mind of all your memories, giving you a clean slate in a way and they agreed. I called her and she came over after two hours. She erased all of your memories of Sophia, but she told us that one day you would remember her.” Alpha Mark replied, but then Sophia stopped him from saying anymore.
“No dad, let me tell her the rest.” Sophia said and he nodded, sitting back in his chair.
“I found out that mom and dad got killed and I tried looking for you, but I was told a pack took you into their family, so I knew you would be safe. I kept hearing things about your life and that you had been turned into a vampire, but then you were also turned into a werewolf, making you a lycan. I heard about the war you were having and I wanted to come and help you, but they told me no because it was too dangerous. I had to stay back, I had no choice, but when it was over I would look in on you from time to time. I was there that day when you told your mate you wanted to check something on the computer and I thought you were a computer holic. I really wanted to stay and watch you training, but when I stepped back I stepped on a twig and a guard heard it, so I ran back home, hoping he didn’t see me.” Sophia said, but then she turned to face Guss.
“It was you. You were the guard that heard the twig snapping.” Sophia said, confusing Guss.
“But I looked there and I didn’t see or smell anything, so how come?” Guss asked, making Sophia smile. She looked so happy to have found her mate and I was happy for both Guss and Sophia, but I still had questions.
“I had this spray to cover my scent because I didn’t want anyone knowing that I was watching over you.” Sophia replied, looking from Guss to me, but then she looked at her parents and looked worried.
“I even killed a few rogues that were planning to jump Casey, but I took care of them. Sorry mom, sorry dad, but I had to do something. I asked them a week ago to see if I could find the witch that erased your memory of me, but she died three years ago of old age. She did however write me this letter before she died and her sister gave it to my dad for me.” Sophia said, taking out a letter from her pocket and handing it to me. I opened the letter, read it and when I was done I handed it back to Sophia. I took a deep breath and held it in for a few seconds before letting it out, trying to compose myself.
“So let me get this straight, my parents took you in and we became sisters. We were so close that we felt each other’s pain, but when your real parents decided that they wanted you back because you could die on your first shift if you didn't have help. Yes, I understand that completely, but what I don’t understand is you called a witch to erase my memory because I would be upset and wonder where you were, that doesn’t make any sense, in fact a lot of what has been said doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. You wanted my memory to be erased because you didn’t want me to come looking for her, but you knew that as soon as she knew I was close she would come and keep an eye out for me. You didn’t think of the photo I would find and also, you said that you lost your way home, but in my parent’s letter to me they found you when you were a baby, barely a few months old, so how?” I replied and Sophia looked at her parents, confused.
“Is that true? You didn't want her to come looking for me? Is that the reason why you cleaned her memory?” Sophia asked and her mother sighed softly, not looking at her.
“Sophia, you have to understand, she was a human at the time and knowing about our world would have put her in danger, as well as her parents, but they found out they knew….the rogues. I tried to talk them out of it, told them they would never say a word, but they wouldn’t listen.” Luna Bonnie said as tears came out of her eyes and down her face.
“So you mean to tell me that you knew they were in danger and you said nothing? Why mom? Why didn’t you say anything? Why did I think that I was at least five or six when they found me?” Sophia asked, standing up. I looked from Sophia to Alpha Mark and even he looked stunned by what his mate said and it was obvious that he had no idea. Alpha Mark got up and moved away from her, making her eyes go wide.
“Mark, I’m sorry, I thought it was for the best. If they told anyone our world would be in danger.” Luna Bonnie said, crying. I got up and my eyes flicked back and forth between mine and my wolf’s.
“SO YOU LET MY FAMILY, THE ONLY FAMILY I HAD WHEN I WAS HUMAN DIE?!!!!” I shouted, growling and moving closer to Bonnie. My claws came out and Ryan immediately ran to my side, wrapping his arms around me and stopping me from going any further as Mark looked angry as he stood in front of Bonnie.
“When I asked you if you knew anything about their deaths you told me you didn’t know anything and yet you were the one who had her family killed. Why? Because you wanted our safety when in actual fact you were only thinking of yourself. I’m sorry, I can’t forgive you for this. I, Mark Allen Rouse, reject you as my mate, Bonnie Joanne Rouse. If you do not approve of this rejection then I’ll rip your head off and feed it to the gators in the back.” Alpha Mark said, shocking us all. Bonnie’s eyes went wide as the pain of the rejection hit her.
“I, Bonnie Joanne Rouse, accept your rejection.” She replied, holding back a sob.
“You have one hour to clear out your things from my room and leave. You are no longer my Luna and are no longer a member of this pack.” Alpha Mark said and Bonnie’s eyes widened in fear.
“No, Mark, don’t do this.” Bonnie pleaded, but Sophia just sighed.
“Dad, please don’t do this, just put her in the cells. If you put her out in the wild and make her a rogue then she will surely die, she won’t stand a chance because she hasn’t trained and all she knows how to do is cook and clean.” Sophia said, then looked at her mother.
“You planted the witch idea in dad's head, didn’t you? You talked him into it?” Sophia asked and Bonnie nodded. Sophia shook her head and looked back at me and her dad, Alpha Mark, then looked back at her mother.
“You are no longer my mother. For years you have told me it was for the best and that it was up to my dad, but now I see that you were lying to my face all along. What really happened to the witch who wrote the letter. What did Casey mean when she said they found me when I was a young baby. I want the truth.” Sophia said, while Guss rubbed her back and arms, trying to calm her down.
“I’m not sure you can handle the truth, Sophia, but yes, the witch did die of old age. I had no part in her death.” Bonnie replied, but Sophia scoffed.
“Yeah sure, I don’t believe you.” Sophia said, shaking her head. I watched as Alpha Mark’s eyes glazed over as he mind-linked someone and then came back to normal. A couple of minutes passed and then there was a knock at the door and two guards came in.
“Take Bonnie to the cells, she is no longer your Luna.” Alpha Mark commanded and they both nodded. They walked over to her and grabbed her by the arms, dragging her out of the living room and to the cells.
