¤Chapter 10¤

"Jolene is who exactly?" She asked taking a sip from her travel mug. "Its his child hood best friend." Gabriel grumbled. Eleanor grinned. "You seem jealous." She teased. "I'm not jealous." Gabriel rolled his eyes. "I just don't like Jolene." He muttered. "Why?" "Because she's fake. Everyone can see it besides him and his family." Gabriel rolled his eyes. "How so?" She continued. They pulled up at the hospital which wasn't far from the city but more closed off to it. Eleanor got out and adjusted her jacket before grabbed her leather jacket and her purse. "You know you should've changed." Gabriel stated as they walked towards the doors of the hospital. "Why?" She asked him becoming irritated. "Because you aren't wearing a shirt!" He exclaimed throwing his hands up. "That's it?" She asked him with a confused look on her face. "Gabe I always bring extra clothes especially when it comes to white." She rolled her eyes. "Oh..." He trailed off his muscles relaxing. "Should've just said so." He shrugged. "Should've asked instead of being so demanding." She retorted. ~¤~ "And finally this is where you do your doctoring." He gestured to the E.R. "Gabe this is the E.R" She rolled her eyes. "I know." He shrugged. "Right..." She nodded slowly not convinced. "Anyway where is Jolene?" She asked him. "She lives in the city so it will take her a while to get here." Gabriel said uninterested in discussing Jolene's whereabouts. "Everyday I'll pick you up and drop you off." He informed. "Its not much of a deal because all you have to do today is make sure everything you need is here and everything is the way you want it." He stated. "Why am I the first one here?" She asked him. "You're the boss remember." Gabriel reminded her. "You're not used to being in charge are you?" He asked turning towards her. She shook her head as she ran her finger along her desk. "This place is dusty." She blew the dust off her finger. "Its been here a while." He simply answered. "More staff will be hired to help around here. Roman isn't done reviewing them." He informed. "Ok." She nodded. "So while I wait for Jolene to show up will you help me get started?" She asked him. "Yeah its not like I've got anywhere else to run off too." He nodded. "Thank you she smiled at him." ~¤~ "Hey Gabe could you come pick me up I'm done." She spoke into the office phone. "Alright I'll be there soon." He replied. "Ok thanks bye." After hanging up she walked out her office and locked it. It was around late night and she was beyond tired. Jolene hadn't showed up so she was left to do everything on her own. She wanted to tell Roman but she didn't know his number and she didn't want to call Gabriel because he had to rush off while they were busy. She could've called him an hour but it was already too late. As soon as she locked the front door Gabriel had pulled up. She smiled before walking over to the car and getting in. "You look awful." He chuckled. "I know." She sighed. "I'm so tired." She mumbled leaning back on her seat. "Catch a few Z's because the house is 30 minutes away." Gabriel suggested. "You'll wake me up?" She asked him. "Of course I will." He nodded. "Ok thank you." She mumbled before closing he'd eyes. She was truly exhausted from all the cleaning and organising she'd done all day. Not too long they'd arrived at the house and she was lazily making her way upstairs. "Eleanor." She heard Roman call out making her stop and turn around. "What?" She asked him. "You look awful." He stated making her roll her eyes and continue her journey up to the third floor. "I was talking to you." She heard him say. "What is it that you wanted to say?" She stopped turning towards him. "I wanted to know how it was working with Jolene?" He asked her. "Ha!" She yelled throwing her head back. "Its actually funny how you straight up assume she was even there." She shook her head with a slight laugh as she began making her way up again. "What's that supposed to mean?" His brows narrowed. "The girl didn't even call in nor did she show up." She said. "I'm going to sleep I'm tired." She informed before she disappeared onto the third floor. Roman made his way downstairs towards the kitchen where he knew he'd find Gabriel. Gabriel surely stood there taking a drink of water. "Why didn't you inform me that Jolene didn't show up to work?" He quizzed. "She didn't?" Gabriel's eyes narrowed. "Elley didn't tell me." He said. "When did she tell you?" "Now." Roman stated getting his phone out. "Don't bother calling her." Gabriel stated. "You know Jolene wouldn't pick up at this time of night." He reminded him. Roman huffed before he pocket his phone. "So what have you recovered?" "Nothing much." Gabriel shook his head. "There were only bullet casings and a blurry surveillance tape that Jerry is working on." "Alright but that's not enough. I want to know who are those stupid fučkers to rob me in broad-day-light." He ran his hand through his hair. Gabriel nodded as he pushed himself up from his leaning position against the counter. "I'm leaving. I'll let you know if we get anything." He informed. "Ok." Roman nodded walking him out. He locked the door and made his way upstairs. He went towards Eleanor's room. He knocked on the door but only to get silence in return. He opened the door to see that she was in bed with light music coming from her speaker. He walked towards where she laid. She looked at peace and yet drained of energy. I wish you left me when you met me... The song said in the background as he moved a strand of hair from her face. You just played me for the last time, I'm done fučkibg with you, you picked the wrong one yeah, yeah you picked the wrong one baby... Roman huffed before walking over to the window and closing it along with the balcony door. He walked out the door and closed it lightly before making his way towards his bedroom. ~¤~ Eleanor got up and took a shower as per normal. She got dressed. She left her hair down and only applied mascara and eyeliner with lip gloss. Walking downstairs as the Rose and Maria followed behind her. "Ladies I don't need anymore help, I'm fine thank you." She smiled at the maids. They both nodded and went in a different direction. She went into the dining room to find Roman having breakfast as always but what surprised her was the blonde that sat where Gabriel would sit. Gabriel sat on the other side of Roman. She made her way to Gabriel's side and sat down. "Oh this must be the Eleanor I've been hearing about." "And you are?..." Eleanor asked generally confused. "Oh silly me." She stated. "I'm Jolene." She said. "Oh..." Eleanor nodded only to frown. "You didn't call in yesterday and I had to do everything by myself...why is that exactly?" Eleanor didn't waste time especially when it came to work. "Oh I'm sorry I was going through a break up yesterday." She placed her hand on her heart. "At least Roman will be able to console me." She placed her hand on his shoulder. "Isn't that right Roman?" She grinned at him. Roman gave her a smile with a small nod. "The least you could've done was call in. I like order in my working space and you not calling in when something goes wrong doesn't help me at all." She said firmly. "It was just one day..." She brushed it off as it were nothing. "I'd like to let you know that I take my job very seriously and in this line of work you need to be serious because the patients that walk through those doors are putting their trust in us to help them, got that?" She said firmly. Jolene's smile slowly fell making Gabriel attempt to contain a snicker looking at her facial expression. ¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤♡¤ Song: ''You'' by Keyshia Cole ft.
