Chapter 3 Ace’s P.O.V Fuck, that was so close. I knew that she either didn’t believe me or could tell that there was something wrong and I knew that I had to act fast, so I did what any mate would do. I f****d the s**t out of her. I wanted her more than ever. She was mine and I was hers, but a part of me was different, more feral. I knew that something was off because I couldn’t smell her scent anymore, not like I used to and I didn’t want to hurt her, but I also knew that we weren’t true mates. I figured it out after we had our first child, but I kept hoping that things would change and we would become true mates. There was no way in hell I was going to let Mercury Black have her back. No, she was mine and after I take this one then the business will be all mine. There was just one problem with that, how was I going to get it? I don’t know how it all went wrong, but it did. I had searched all over for my mate and then I found Cheyenne. I knew that she was my mate straight away, but then I found out that she was Mercury’s first mate, brought back from the dead by the Moon Goddess and I thought I was going to lose her there and then, but she picked me and rejected Mercury. It was that same day that I smelled Holly, Mercury’s second chance mate and I knew that she was meant for me, but she was with Mercury and Cheyenne had accepted me, so we rejected each other. Holly’s scent faded away and I was happy, but then Cheyenne got pregnant with our first child and something changed. Her scent was different and I thought it would change after she had the baby, but when she had our daughter her scent didn’t change back to the one I loved. Was the Moon Goddess wrong in pairing us together or was there something else wrong? I had no idea what was going on, but then one day I was in the human part of town when the strangest thing happened. 3 years ago….. I was just having a look around, trying to find a gift for one of the pack members when I smelled the most amazing scent and at first I thought it was Cheyenne, but when I saw Holly I was shocked. Why was I smelling her scent again after we had rejected each other? I watched as Holly went into this coffee shop, ordered something and then sat down. I was so confused by her scent and why it was so intoxicating to me again, so I didn’t go in at first, but I knew that I had to. “f**k it.” I mumbled to myself and went inside. I watched her from the corner of my eye as I ordered a coffee and then sat in front of her at the same table. I knew that she knew I was there because her head rose up from behind her laptop. “You seriously need to work on your tailing skills, I knew that you were following me. So, what do you need, Ace, I have things to do?” Holly asked and at first I didn’t think she smelled me, but then her eyes went wide and I knew that she had. “We rejected each other, we said the right words and everything. I felt the bond between us break, so why am I smelling you again?” Holly asked, just as confused as I was. “Maybe the Moon Goddess was wrong.” I replied, still unsure. “I don’t know, there has to be some explanation for this because we both have mates. What are you thinking, Ace?” Holly asked, looking worried. “I honestly don’t know. I mean if we reject each other again what’s to say that the Moon Goddess won’t just pair us up again? What do you think we should do?” I asked, shaking my head. I loved Cheyenne and Holly loved Mercury, so why was this happening now? Present day…. Three years ago we started to figure this all out, meeting at the same coffee shop at least once every two weeks, but the more time we spent together the more we fell in love. Soon our once fortnight meeting turned into once a week, then three times a week and now it was nearly every day that we spoke on the phone and saw each other. We had long ago accepted each other as mates, but the bonds with Mercury and Cheyenne never broke, so no one was any the wiser. Now I’m standing in front of the same coffee shop where we first reunited, meeting Holly once again to go over our plan. “We need to do this soon before anyone figures out what's going on.” Holly said, lowering her voice slightly. I could tell that she was annoyed about us having to hide like this and fed up with Mercury, but this plan needed to be perfect. “I know, I know, but we have to make sure everything is just right. I know that Cheyenne was thinking something was going on when I told her that I had a meeting with the council, so I’ll have to think of what I’m going to say before I go back to her. I’m tired of lying to her. If we don’t end this right now then all hell is going to break loose.” I replied, but she just shook her head. “And I know exactly how you took her mind off it, I felt it, but I know that it had to be done. Listen, I have rented a small house, just for us so that we can do this as long as we can without being seen. We won’t be in public, so no other wolf will see us. It’s on the human side of town, so there’s no way we’ll be caught.” Holly replied and I felt the pain in my heart to know that she felt me betraying her with Cheyenne. The thought of us being able to be free in this small house was so appealing and it’s not like Cheyenne and I are mates anymore, so she wouldn’t feel anything that we did. Obviously I would need to break away from her slowly before I completely end it, but that’s easy. “This will work, I will meet you there tomorrow, just send me the address and I will be there. I’ll make up some excuse and she won’t think anything different.” I said, sighing as I grabbed Holly’s hands and kissed them. Holly and I got up after talking and went our separate ways, but out of the corner of my eye I saw one of Mercury and Cheyenne’s kids watching us. No big deal, they probably just thought we were talking about a gift or something for our mates, well, I hope that’s what they’ll think. I walked around the human town for a while, then went to my car and sat in there for a few hours, rehearsing what I was going to say to Cheyenne about the council meeting when I got back home.I finally had it all planned out in my head and drove home, but when I got there I was annoyed to see that Cheyenne was waiting up for me, wanting to know how the council meeting went. I went into the living room and she followed, firing questions at me, just as I had expected, so I sat down and pulled her onto my lap. “Don’t worry about anything, my love. The council only wanted to know our input about the rogues and the attacks. I knew they had been circling one of the packs because one of the other alpha’s had called and told me about it, he was there with us, so everything is going to work out just fine.” I replied, avoiding all her questions with a brief statement. I was so glad that she didn’t ask anything else because I honestly didn’t want to lie to her anymore. I did truly love Cheyenne, she was my soulmate and my wolf was howling at me about how heartbroken he was, wanting me to just let her go and not hurt her, so I was trying to soothe him. “Spade, listen, everything is going to be okay. We will do it when she is busy and doesn’t see it. A bullet to the back of the head will do it, quick and painless. We can say someone shot her.” I said, talking to my wolf, but all he did was growl at me. “You stupid f*****g slime ball, that won’t work.” Spade replied and began cursing me left, right and centre. “Yes it will, calm down. No one will ever blame me. I will stage a break in, throw things around, break stuff and even take a few things. Everyone will blame a mangy rogue.” I said, trying to explain it all to him while keeping calm, but I could have sworn that he rolled his eyes at me. “ASSHOLE!!!” Spade shouted in my head, giving me the start of a headache. I knew that he loved Cheyenne, but how else will we get to Mercury, he will be too busy mourning her again and that’s when we’ll make our move. “You’re an asshole and you and that b***h are going to get yourselves killed.” Spade said, then retreated to the back of my mind, blocking me out. s**t, what if he takes control and tells Cheyenne what’s going on? s**t, I’ll need to put a block up on him so that he won’t be able to hear anymore about the plans or take control of me. I concentrated hard and built a wall up around him in my mind, making sure that he wouldn’t be able to get out unless I wanted him to. Mercury’s P.O.V When Holly came home there was a strange scent on her, one that I knew but couldn’t place where from. She did say that she was going to the human part of town, she even had a few bags with her, but that scent on her I didn’t like one bit. Who the f**k would dare to get even a little bit close to my mate? I growled at the thought, watching as she dropped the bags down on the table. She turned and looked around, confused, but then she looked at me and saw I was looking at her. “Why the hell did you growl at me? I told you I’d be back in a few hours and that’s exactly what I’ve done. I was back in two hours, so what’s the f*****g problem?” Holly asked, growling back at me and I didn’t like the way she talked to me. It was just like all the other times she wanted an argument, but it wasn’t going to work this time. I wasn’t going to back down. I picked her up and slammed her against the wall, leaning down to her neck and inhaling her scent. “Who the f**k has been so close to you that they have left their scent on you? Why did you let anyone get so close to you? You are mine, is that clear? YOU ARE MY MATE!” I growled, raising my voice at the end and I knew that I’d scared her, but I didn’t care. She pushed me hard, but I only moved enough so that I could look into her hazel green eyes. “I was in the coffee shop and saw Ace. he was getting coffee before heading back home after just getting done with the council. We said hello, hugged and talked about home, that’s it. I knew I shouldn’t have hugged him because it would leave his scent on me and drive you crazy, so I’m sorry.” Holly replied, looking right at me, but something didn’t feel right. Something was telling me that she was hiding something and I had no idea what it was, so I let it go for now. “You just need to remember that you are mine, little mate.” I said and she smirked. “So why don’t you show me.” She replied, as I leaned into her and pulled her jeans and panties down. I pulled my pants down and bent her over the table, plunging my d**k into her and f*****g her hard. I pulled her back so her back was against my chest and bit down on her marking spot, f*****g her even harder and making her scream out. I f****d her so hard that I made the table move and nearly break, but I made sure that she remembered who she belonged to. I wore her out completely and when I was done with ehr, she was so sore that I had to carry her to the bathroom and run her a bath. She could barely stand up as her legs were like jelly, so I lifted her into the tub and let her soak. I went back downstairs and grabbed her bags, brought them up to our room and put them on the bed, so she could put her things away when she was done. At least this time it wasn’t a screaming match between us, maybe from now on I will just f**k her so hard that she’ll be worn out and she won’t say anything.
