Cheyenne’s P.O.V
Ever since I came back my life had been a whirlwind, from finding my second chance mate, to reuniting with my children and Mercury and then to me and Mercury rejecting each other. It had been one hell of a rollercoaster of emotions and when Ace thought that he was going to lose me to Mercury he was devastated, until he found out that I had chosen him, but since then Ace has always kept a watchful, protective eye on me, wanting nothing more than for me to be safe. It’s kinda cute in a way that he thinks I need protecting and I just let him carry on regardless, but I was shocked when he agreed to Mercury’s request of needing me to help him on a job. I was a bit pissed off that Mercury didn’t ask me himself, but Ace is the Alpha of the pack and it would be seen as improper for Mercury to not ask his permission first. Permission, huh, like I have ever needed that, but I’ll let them think I do and teach them a lesson after. Anyway, Mercury called to ask if I could help him on a collection because Holly was visiting family for a few days and he needed a female. Ace agreed, but only on the condition that Mercury kept me safe, which made me roll my eyes. I know how to protect myself and anyone else that comes along, thank you very much. So now here I am, standing in the living room with this crazy ass woman who has a knife in her right hand, pointing at me and asking me who the hell I am.
“WHY THE f**k DID YOU KICK MY f*****g DOOR DOWN?!! WHO THE f**k ARE YOU?!!!!” She shouted at me and then I heard Mercury and the rest of the crew come through the door behind me. As soon as she saw Mercury her hazel eyes went huge.
“Mercury, you could have just knocked, you asshole.” She said, lowering her voice.
“Why, so you could try and run out the back door? Then I would never get my money back. Where is it, Sandra?” Mercury asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I never would have ran, I have your money right here.” Sandra replied, turning and placing the knife on the table. I was here because the collection was from a woman, but I didn’t trust her at all, something tells me that she is nothing but trouble. I cautiously watched her open a box in the entertainment centre and pull something out, but I couldn’t see what it was until she turned around, revealing the pistol in her hand.
“You didn’t think that you would come here and I wouldn’t be prepared, did you?” Sandra asked, pointing the gun at me and making Mercury growl.
“You growl at me once more and I’ll pull the trigger. I have the perfect shot of her heart and I’m pretty sure that even you can’t travel faster than a moving bullet. I’m leaving, Mercury and if you or any of your goons try to follow me I’ll shoot her. Now be a good boy and move away from the f*****g door.” Sandra said, pissing us all off even more. Mercury moved a few steps away from the door and nodded to my dad, Hawk and Spike to do the same. The whole time she kept pointing the gun at my chest and this was only pissing me off because I don’t like to be threatened, especially by a two bit tramp like her. She slowly walked by me, but she made the mistake of only keeping an eye on Mercury and the others, so when she got close enough I grabbed her hand that was holding the gun and twisted it so it snapped her fingers. She screamed out and punched me in the face with her other hand, causing me to stagger back a bit, but I recovered fast and did a roundhouse kick to her stomach, knocking her flying into the wall behind her. She hit it with a loud thud and slid down to the floor in a heap, but I didn’t care and just walked over to her.
“Where is the f*****g money, b***h?” I asked, bending down to her level and letting my lycan eyes glow as I looked at her. She looked up and smirked as she was about to reply to me, but when she saw my eyes glowing her face and eyes held nothing but pure terror.
“It…it’s upstairs…in a duffel bag…under the bed. It’s more than I owe, more than you could ever want, so please…at….at least leave me with a couple thousand so I can get by. So I can start again.” Sandra shakily replied and I was stunned. I couldn’t believe that this b***h had the nerve to ask that after she had just pointed a gun at me, threatened to kill me and tried to run out of here. This b***h had some nerve, I had to give her that, but it was too late.
“I don’t think so, little girl. Spike, if you would be so kind as to head up there and see if she’s telling the truth.” I said, looking over my shoulder to see him nod. We all heard as he ran up the stairs, but then we heard banging, something breaking and then we saw this guy fall down the stairs and land at the bottom, dead. I growled, turning to look at her as Mercury ran up the stairs to find out what was going on and if Spike was alright, while my dad stayed with me to make sure nothing happened. My heart skipped a beat when I heard the gunshot and then another guy came tumbling down the stairs, but I was so relieved to see it wasn’t Mercury or Spike. A couple of minutes later Spike and Mercury came walking down the stairs with two duffel bags in their hands.
“You were going to hold out on me, Sandra. It took me five years to find you and you think you could get away so easily this time, b***h. What the hell is wrong with you? You came to me for help and I helped you on the agreement that you would pay me back. Is this how you think I wanted to be paid back? Is this what I get in return for helping you?” Mercury asked, stepping closer to us. She smirked as I stood back up, pulling her to her feet and holding her in place, but then her smirk turned into laughter, like she was going crazy or something.
“If you’re going to kill me then just do it. Go ahead, kill me. I don’t care.” Sandra replied, still laughing, but Mercury just sighed. He grabbed her by her hair and made her look him in the eyes.
“I’m not going to kill you, Sandra, but I will do this.” Mercury said, pushing her head back into the wall hard, knocking her out like a light. We turned around to leave, but just as we got to the door I heard something behind me, so I turned around to see what it was and was shocked when I saw her. I guess I was wrong when I thought she was knocked out, she only pretended to be and now she had the gun in her hand once again. She fired a shot at me, but thankfully, due to her head injury her aim was off and the bullet grazed my arm instead. She carried on laughing as I stomped over to her and knocked the gun out of her hand again.
“He wasn’t going to kill you, but I will.” I said, grabbing her head and twisting it until her neck snapped. I let her body fall to the hard wooden floor, turned around and walked out of the room, leaving my dad to do what he does best. Destroy everything. He poured gasoline all over the house and lit a match, setting everything on fire as we left. By the time the fire department got there all the bodies would be burnt to a crisp under whatever was left of the house. When we got back to Mercury’s house we went into the office and he emptied the duffel bags onto his desk. There was more there than I thought there was and it took the four of us about three hours to count it all.
“There’s…there’s four million dollars here. How long has this b***h been conning people like this?” Spike asked, stunned. Mercury just shrugged as he split the money four ways between himself, my dad, Spike and me.
“Well, it’s been a long ass night, so I’m going to head home. See you later.” I said, waving goodbye and heading back to my car. I got in and started the drive back home, but the whole time I kept getting this weird nagging feeling in my chest and stomach, but I decided to just shrug it off. I’d had it before and nothing ever came of it, so all I wanted to do was get home to my mate and show him the money. I knew that he’d been busy a lot lately, going to meetings and having to get tons of paperwork done, so I tried not to bother him as much.
“Hey hun, just on my way back now.” I said, mind-linking Ace and then shutting the link off. It didn’t take me long to get home, only thirty minutes and when I got back I headed straight to his office. I walked right into his office and dropped the money on the desk.
“What is all this?” He asked, shocked.
“My split of the collection.” I replied, sitting down.
“Damn, that’s a lot of money.” He said, whistling as he looked at it all.
“Yeah, I know. Come on, let’s put this in the safe.” I said, standing up and he nodded. He opened the safe and I started handing him the wads of cash to put in, but when he wasn’t looking I snuck five grand under my shirt. I’ve done this every time, putting a little in a personal bank account, just in case anything ever happens. I don’t know why I do it, but I get this nagging feeling like I have to, so I do.
“Care to join me?” I asked, wiggling my eyebrows at him and making him chuckle.
“Give me a second, I’ll meet you up there.” He replied and I nodded. I left his office and went upstairs to our bedroom. I went into the bathroom and started to run the bath, then I went back into the bedroom and put some of my money in one safe and the rest in a hidden safe. Better safe than sorry, right? I stripped out of my clothes, but as I did so the weirdest smell hit me and I wasn’t sure if it was him or me, but something really stunk. Maybe it was me, after being in that filthy house. Either way I needed a bath, so I got in the tub and waited for him to join me.
Mercury’s P.O.V
After the money was shared out and everyone had left, I sat at my desk, thinking about tonight's events and everything else that had been going on. It was amazing having Cheyenne with me on this collection and it kinda felt like old times. She could still kick ass and her temper hadn’t calmed down either. Holly was gone, visiting her family or she would have been here instead of Cheyenne, but in a way I was glad that she wasn’t here because maybe the time apart would do us good. I don’t know what is going on with her, but lately all she wants to do is fight and argue, which I don’t want. It all started after a huge storm we had, which destroyed most of the buildings and it even tore the roof off our home. It was going to take at least a month to get fixed, but that wasn’t good enough for her, she wanted it done right away. She didn’t seem to understand that these things take time and money, but lately it’s like all our arguments were about just that. Time and money. She wanted money and whatever she wanted, she wanted it right there and then, like she had no patience to wait for things. It was like she was trying to pick an argument over even the smallest of things, which is why I was kinda glad when she told me that she was going to be visiting her family for a few days. All we had done lately was fight and argue, so the house seemed really peaceful now that she was gone for a while, but I don’t know how she was going to be when she got back, so to make her happy I bought her a diamond necklace. I just hope that she likes it. I swear that she has different personalities or something because I never know which one I’m going to get from one day to the next. I wanted to talk to my kids about it, but they have all been doing their own things now and I didn’t want to bother Cheyenne about it because that would just be weird. My son still helps me out a lot and every weekend we all get together and enjoy a nice family BBQ or family dinner. Hell, even Cheyenne and Ace would come over and stay for hours, just laughing and having a good time. This was one of the things that Holly and I never argue about, that weekends are for family, where we can talk about everything that’s been going on and how the babies are doing. I say babies, but they are growing up so fast and soon they’ll be starting training and joining the family business if they want to. I got up from my desk and left my office, turning the lights out as I went upstairs to my bedroom. It had been a crazy night and all I wanted to do was take a shower, lie down on the bed and just relax, so I did just that. I pulled my boxers on and lay on the bed, chilling, but I felt the weirdest feeling in my chest and stomach, maybe it was just gas or something, I thought to myself as I got comfy. I need to get some sleep so I can get up and see who else I can find tomorrow.
