Lucy wasn’t happy about having the match in the first place, as she wanted to have archery class with Daniel and not dueling with Drake during the middle of a class due to the decision their master had taken to lower the other students' pride and crush it into dust. But here she was twirling and hitting the ground with her strength and she hadn’t even used her tail, and yet she had struck the students with fear.
‘I hope they won’t be more afraid of me.’
As a proud member of the Alaric family, it meant being recognized by the public and easily identified by the commoners. She was known as the deathless Alaric, as she didn’t inherit the death risme from her father and rather the food risme from her mother. Although she doesn’t possess it, she is treated as an outcast among her peers, excluding Drake and Daniel. But Daniel and he had been friends since they were five and met Drake at the age of seven. He wasn’t really into making friends with others his age, as he was happy with just Christa and Rico’s presence and only agreed to meet the two due to their connection to Christa and nothing more, but ended up training with them, as he felt comfortable with them after a month of forced visiting.
Daniel was a better fighter than all the three of them as he started the earliest, but Drake had more talent than Daniel, giving him a higher chance first and Lucia had frist and risme without trying to unlock it, giving her more time to strengthen her archery skills first while the others tried to unlock their risme and frist. Normally, Glenn would make all three of them face each other, but he needed to work on Lucia’s social anxiety and Drake’s anti-social behavior at the same time, which would reduce the amount of stress they inflicted on him, as he saw Daniel as the least problematic and needed the most help from Seth’s training.
“Kid, how do you do it?”
“Do what exactly?”
Daniel removed his eyes from the fight and looked back at his teacher as he still had the bored look in his eyes and wasn’t going away unless a special someone was there taunting him about his lazy behavior.
“Remain sane from Seth’s training.”
Daniel shot Glenn a questioning look.
“You don’t need to hide it; people normally go insane from his lectures.”
Daniel gave him a ‘so what’ and Glenn sighed in exasperation and needed to sit down to deal with his student’s annoying personality.
“Continue to be dense, and you will become more like your mentor.”
Daniel hissed after the comment giving Glenn the ratification, he needed to continue the topic revolving Seth.
‘I got you.’
“Do you know that I was trained by him?”
Receiving shocked looks and glances from Martin, Daniel and Lucia, whose enhanced hearings were helping her with the fight against Drake, managing to protect her from the thunder bolts with her vines.
“How are you? I mean like physically and mentally," Daniel blurted, but didn’t seem to care after noticing it and was rather eager to hear the question.
“I am dead from the inside in the beginning and-“ He stopped talking and watched Daniel’s expression of excitement rise through the roofs.
‘He reminds me of Glenn when he sees my sister.’, Martin shivered at the thought of it, while Glenn could read him just by looking at his facial expressions and smirked, which made Martin’s fear even worse.
“And what?” Daniel inquired, making the two males turn away from each other.
“I thought I couldn’t be dead as I already was, but when he trained me, death was looking less troublesome and more fun.”
Martin showed him a look of sympathy, but it didn’t last as it was replaced by a mocking look, but it was ignored by the student and teacher, who were discussing the methods they used to cope with his training.
“I would love to use sarcasm as a coping system, but Drake clearly has had it since we were kids.”
Glenn didn’t respond as his eyes were on Drake, the most unpredictable of the three, who had managed to buy from the inventory.
‘Strange.’
It was weird for Drake to ever buy or accept anything, even Juimes from Christa on his tenth birthday, and he barely disobeyed her and for him to buy a weapon would have meant he was considering Lucia as an opponent and not a friend, which was good.
But something didn’t seem right.
“Daniel, has Drake ever bought anything from the inventory?” He asked Daniel, who started to focus on the fight.
“No, he said he would only buy an item if it was suggested by the system or if he was facing an opponent or enemy, he wasn’t too keen on facing him.”
Daniel was dense, but he noticed the hint Glenn dropped from him and showed Drake’s buying from the inventory, and it looked like a long distance and mid-range weapon in his arms.
His face was filled with worry about his cousin and he didn’t want her hurt by Drake and immediately called for her attention, which disoriented her, making her hiss at him, remembering how sensitive her senses were.
‘This is bad, I need to warn her.’
“Lucy, attack Drake before he hurts you with the odd weapon in his possession,” Daniel shouted from her from Glenn’s side.
“What weapon? I don’t see it.”
Daniel pointed at the weapon in Drake which he was still trying to figure out and was still having issues with using the weapon.
“It doesn’t look like it would hurt me much, as he doesn’t know how to operate it yet.”
Lucia had jinxed herself, as Drake had a small smile adorning his face and positioned the shotgun in his arms even though the weapon was like a sword but with no blade and though it was rather like a bow but with an already stored arrow in it and didn’t need to be refilled.
It was different from the usual long sharp silver blade in his arms, but it was brown and had a holster and seemed easy to keep at his back without a sheath, and he needed to lock the handle to prevent the loss of bullets.
Lucia was still grinning about Drake being unable to use a weapon he purchased for himself but was scared by the bullet passing through her face, scratching the skin around her cheek while she bled for a while as her body managed to heal it, but there was a dark scar around it.
‘I don’t know much about this weapon, but I certainly love it.’ Drake had an innocent smile which sent shivers through the audience and his opponent's spines.
‘It looks like the demon is slowly coming out of the cage, he really is like Rico, and he denies it.’ Glenn wasn’t affected by the look but was focused on who would win between both of them.
‘Whoever wins will teach the class, so I hope it is Drake that wins.’
