The Indifferent Man

‘I can’t believe it.’ {I told you.} ‘I didn’t think I would be so different from the others.’ {Yes, you are so different from the others.} ‘You’re not helping me.’ {Thank you for reminding me of my existence.} ‘You don’t seem bothered.’ {I shouldn’t be annoyed with this, that doesn’t matter to me.} ‘You’re right, I need to attend swordsmanship class with Daniel.’ {Aw, you really care for him.} “Tch!!,” He responded loudly, while leaving the nurse’s office, and skillfully ignoring Jade’s teases. Sometimes she could be annoying and yet helpful, but that doesn’t mean he forgot they share the same mind. {You do have a heart; you just don’t show it.} “Whatever,” He replied outside the telepathic conversation, staring at the leaves of the small garden, surrounding the corners of the hallway, while rushing to his first class of the day. “I wonder how Mom and Rico are doing with Sebastian.” {How adorable, you love him.} ‘Yes, I love Sebastian.’ Shocked by his honesty, Jade replied. {That caught me off guard.} But was ignored by Drake, as he wasn’t in the mood for more fights with her, and it was just the beginning of the day. The sun was still up, shining and dwelling on his face, like a furnace in a small cottage, in the middle of winter, which was nice and calm but still brought up fears of the poor boy, as he remembered the first time he met Jade. However, he didn’t seem bothered to remind the woman he was sharing a mind with, how unfortunate, but then again, over the six years he had been with, he could tell that the people he surrounded himself with, were oddly secretive, minus Daniel, Lucia and Glenn, the Guild master of Blars. He strolled into the school training grounds and was met by Daniel, who seemed relieved by the presence of his friend, while dragging him to a certain area of the training ground. It was barren, unlike the remaining parts of the training ground, but it didn’t seem to bother him, and he slowly walked to his usual spot, without being disturbed by the number of eyes, watching his every move and the teacher muttering “Showoff.” It clearly wasn’t his fault. People can be awfully nosy about things that shouldn’t be known by them. He knelt down, taking the customized light brown wood, shaped into the accurate measurements of a sword, to prevent the students from cutting their hands, because they were still children and children always find a way to get themselves hurt, even if given a warning. Drake’s attention was focused on the wood dummy, in front of his eyes, as he needed to get his frustrations out, rather than hurt someone else to do it, although that sounded much better, hearing the screams of a student or listening to the sounds from the dummy, as both the wooden sword and wooden training equipment collided together and no other sound but being hit, would be heard from the two objects. What a shame. He still thought it was important to be a well-behaved student, as he waited for his swordsmanship teacher, who was heading in his direction, but looked bloated. Drake didn’t mean to be offensive, but the teacher looked like he was sentenced to death, for a crime he did commit but pretended to be innocent. He was being followed by a shadow. Drake stopped releasing his off frustration on the dummy and was surprised, pleasantly surprised by the guest, his teacher was showing him around the training ground. “Hello little ones.” He knew that indifferent and lazy voice very well. The man was already considered a legend of the eight species of Glathon, but he was rather lazy for someone, as powerful as himself, but he was a living legend, and he enjoyed the praise of people, as it was opposite to the bored look of his. “Mr. Glenn, you should be more considerate to the students.” “I am being generous for even showing up in the first place.” There he was standing in the flesh, Glenn, the guild master of the Blars guild. He is known for being the first commoner to have a risme. His father was also talented but was easily killed by a sickening disease, but that didn’t stop the boy from achieving greatness. “Today I will be asking you to pay money for my services.” And he was also greedy, but who could blame him for not taking an opportunity to not anger the annoying nobles and royals? It was his job and he got paid for it. He was a man who followed his passion and didn’t care much about others. “Master Glenn!!” “Martins, they asked for my help, and they should be able to afford my services.” “That wasn’t the plan with the Principal.” “And should I start caring for a man who doesn’t give me money?” “It is common decency for a human.” “But I don’t consider myself a human.” His final words silenced the man, and he stared at the two boys, whose parents he knew very well. Martins already knew his plans, but failed by not intercepting the conversation with the entire class. “Today Drake Timberline and Daniel Furlorn will be the ones who will teach you all, as they have already passed the test which the remaining of you have failed.” “But we haven’t had any tests recently.” Martins was praying to let the class end and wondered how his sister coped with working with him every day, but he didn’t question his methods when it came down to teaching people. “You already did.” “But how?” the student asked, his eyes showed a flame of determination, which was immediately put out by the indifferent words of the man, who stood right in front of him and was clearly displeased by the boy, who was making him speak more than he intended to, while he taught the brats. “They didn’t ask me any questions, unlike the rest of you.”
