Glenn

1064 Words
Glenn was a man whose one rule in life was to be strong and act if you care about others; people question his words but never have an answer to his personal question. Eyes were the gateway to one’s soul, but Glenn’s eyes weren’t meant to be stared into, as red eyes were only common to the demon race or the pure-blooded royals of the Pede, the fairy race, he was considered an abnormality as he belonged to neither, an existence that shouldn’t have been born. But fate was unnaturally annoying, deciding what and when a person could be someone, the times when people worked hard for all their lives, only to have their lives snatched away the very moment they were about to reap the fruits of their work and work was passed to another soul, who didn’t even have to do anything. That was the fate of Glenn. He was a common knight, following in his father’s footsteps and reaped the fruits of his father’s work. He wanted to be great on his own, not hand everything he thought of in hand on a golden platter, sure it was fun at first, but time made him hate such easy achievements. Life was easy for him, unlike his dearest father who fought with his life on the line, in every moment of his life, to achieve his dreams. What a legend. Why couldn’t he have been like his father? It wasn’t that hard for a human to struggle, right? How he wished he could have remembered the face of his mother, the one who left him and his little sister with their broken father, whose only comfort was by slaying of monsters, why she did what she did. Why did she do it? A question that only she could answer, and he wasn’t as desperate as before for her to answer him. He wasn’t exactly ready for his little sister to have a mental breakdown. The only reason he agreed to the class was to watch his little sister excel in Archery class, not watch over his already excelling students, who had joined the mockery of a class which was taught by his secretary and not so unrequited love’s brother. He didn’t exactly remember how he had listened to the principal and ended up being escorted by the man, but he surely remembered how much he hated people for questioning him, whether intentionally or unintentionally, which brought him back to the current situation of the student in front of him, questioning his motives, like he was destroying their efforts of being possible knights and not trying to share his experiences with him and possibly making him better than he already was. “But I was the only one who asked a question.” The student was fighting an already lost battle, but Glenn didn’t miss out on trying to flirt with Mary, only for him to be sidetracked by a know-it-all child. They were the worst type of students. They didn’t even consider if their tutors or teachers would be grateful, if they didn’t ask questions the majority of commoners were asking their leaders. Every day. He sighed in annoyance, he really considered being nice to them, believe him, when he said that he was actually not trying to break their poor fragile hearts and minds. Compared to Drake and Daniel, the remaining students were weak. He didn’t mean physically, rather he meant emotionally and socially. Being a knight, didn’t necessarily have to be just being strong on the inside. A knight is a person who should be able to defend both the poor and the weak, but a knight should also be strong emotionally, physically, and mentally. Generally, the weakest point of a regular person was their mind. People would suggest their heart or their physical state. But Glenn had to disagree, the weakest part of a person, regardless of their species, is their mind. No matter what people say, everyone has a mind, even though there were some who couldn’t use it. Cough. Cough. Lamonsters. Every person is affected by the words of the ones they care about, even if they don’t show people, they are slowly broken down by even the most unnecessary words. When a mother scolds her child, the child may not show it, but the child is hurt or losing a close one to death. It was devastating for the individual and even if they could move on, they would forever be sad due to that eventful experience. “Have you ever seen someone you care about die right before your eyes?” His questions stunned the students, whose eyes almost dropped out of their eye sockets, minus the two duos, who were expecting this question. “From your reaction, you clearly answered the question.” “But sir, why would you expect us to have seen people die in front of our eyes?” “Lucia Alaric witnessed the death of her abductors at the age of six.” “But she is different from the rest of us,” A female student answered, leaving her victim to the glare of Drake and Daniel. “Drake had killed his first inlathon at the age of five, all alone in the cold winter,” He intercepted the conversation, the students and teacher faced Drake’s attention, who was clearly not in the mood to divide his attention between Jade and the class. {You killed an Inlathon, let’s celebrate.} ‘You are clearly making the situation more uncomfortable for me, by taunting me even more.’ {I know that’s why I am doing it.} “Daniel killed fifteen men out of spite of poisoning his father and was later assisted by Drake and Lucia who helped him and fight them off as the adults were knocked out by a Mot flower.” The stares were divided between the two, who didn’t clearly like the attention and were later joined by a rather confused yet puzzled Lucia, who had come to call Daniel for Archery class. “Is there something on my face?” Not really liking the attention from the swordsmanship class and facing Drake’s face, whose teeth were gritted together by the frustration of his acquaintance. {And now there were three.} ‘Would you please shut up?’ {Never.} “Ugh, why do you need to be so annoying?”
