Amber’s P.O.V.
I woke up, frowning, as it took my mind a couple of seconds to catch up with me, before I remembered exactly where I was again. I was inside the pack house, with my mate…
MY MATE!
I couldn’t help the smile that grew on my face, as I remembered back at last night. It was… incredible to say the least. After round one, we had both fallen asleep, only to catch back up on round two very early this morning, when it was still dark outside. I looked over at the night stand, seeing that it was already 11 o’clock.
Shit!
11!!
I groaned, as I rubbed my eyes with my hands. It was only then that movement started to come from next to me, and I was greeted by the cutest grin of all time, in the shape of my mate… My Ty. Not only was he freakishly handsome, he was also sweet and kind, not to forget, an amazing kisser and an even better performer in bed. The thought alone made me want to get up and go for round 3.
Damn, I was one lucky girl, alright.
But I yelped, as Tyler took the blankets and threw them over my face, surrounding me once again in darkness, as we were both lying under the covers now.
“What are you doing?” I giggled, asking him as I felt him twist and turn, until he was lying right on top of me, his lips hidden somewhere in my neck. He hadn’t marked me just yet, but I knew it was just a matter of time. We had all the time in the world right now. So I surely didn’t mind, not at all.
“I am stopping time.” He answered me, making me shake my head as I heard his foolish words.
“You can’t do that.” I giggled, knowing at some point in time, we needed to get up from this bed and well… function.
“I can at least try for the both of us, since you clearly have no imagination.” He answered me playfully , right before his lips found mine. God, this man was amazing. It was as if I would never be able to get enough of him. He would always have me running back to him, begging for more.
“Please, stop time for the both of us.” I smiled up at him, seeing how his dimple grew even deeper inside his cheek as his smile widened. His wild blonde hair being pulled next to his eyes by gravity as he looked down on me.
“f**k, you’re so beautiful.” He sighed, as if he couldn’t believe it.
“Beautiful? That’s all?” I laughed, punching him against his shoulder. I knew he was trying to be nice here, but I was feeling playful this morning as well. I wanted him to squirm, just a little.
“OK. What about perfect?” He asked me, making me nod.
“I can live with perfect.” I answered him, smiling wide, before he leaned in and kissed me again.
“Please, don’t leave.” I begged him, sighing, to which he tilted his head as he kept looking at me.
“I’m not going anywhere.” He smiled down at me, making me frown. He wasn’t understanding what I was saying here.
“I mean… please don’t leave… ever. I want you to stay here. I want us to stay here. Inside the Grey pack... Have a life, here.” I told him, seeing how his frown melted away and turned into a soft smile.
“Did you just beg me?” He smirked, making me punch him on the shoulder again.
“I can also kick your ass, so you won’t be able to move anymore, and you would be forced to stay and live inside the Grey pack.” I told him, clearly something I had learned while growing up among all boys. But Tyler stopped laughing, eyeing me now, very seriously. As if he was thinking about something, but then made up his mind.
“ OK. We'll stay in the Grey pack. And we'll start with today. Spending it in this bed.” He nodded, and I felt how my eyes grew bigger at his answer.
“My Alpha is coming here tomorrow, to talk about the fucker that threatened you. When he is here, I will tell him that I am staying here, with you. If your Alpha will let me, at least.” He laughed, once I had wrapped my arms around his neck and I pulled him down onto me. I couldn’t help but stop laughing, because right now, everything just felt so f*****g perfect, and I couldn’t remember if I had ever been this happy, a day in my life, ever before, up until today.

THE NEXT DAY
Tyler’s P.O.V.
Amber was still in our bedroom getting dressed. She wanted to go over to her parents', and already tell them that she had found her true mate. After that, she would come back here and we would go over there together. So I could meet her parents and potentially get some of my limbs broken by her ‘big brothers’. I had seen the Beta, that man was a f*****g giant. If all of her brothers were like him, I would be in for one f*****g adventure. But first, I was going to wait for my own Alpha, and tell him the news that I had found my true mate, and if Alpha Archer would let me, that I wanted to stay inside the Grey pack with my mate from now on. I was sure they would all understand, and I couldn’t stop the damn smile on my face, knowing how brightly my future was looking. I had kissed Amber goodbye and made my way into the hallway, surprised to see that my very own Alpha, Alpha Ash of the Spike pack, was walking up towards me down the hall. He nodded and smiled at me. A white-haired man was walking next to him. I had seen him around the Spike pack before. I knew he wasn’t a pack member, but he had helped us out in the past before. That man was a hybrid. Part wolf, part wizard, and a f*****g powerful one at that!
“Tyler, nice seeing you here.” His eyes grew bigger just a little, and I wondered if he could smell the she-wolf on me. He wasn’t a fool and he had already found his Luna and mate. Surely, he would understand.
“I was just about to go and talk to Alpha Archer, but I already found out that you were a part of last night's events as well, so it might be better if you would join us inside while we talk.” The Alpha told me, to which I nodded. I would gladly tell them everything that had happened. I would own up to the things that I had done to that fucker Tim. He got what he deserved and I hoped he was dead by now, and that the Alpha would have made him suffer while killing him too. But all of those thoughts melted away, as the Beta walked over to us, welcoming Alpha Ash into the Grey pack before he looked at me, as if he was ready to kill me as his nostrills flared. Right before he opened the office doors completely to lead us all inside.
Shit
Does he already know?
About Amber and me being mates?
Fuck… he knows…
He can smell her on me.
I’m a dead man.
FUCK.
I sighed, but followed the men inside nonetheless. I guess I could die at least a happy man, knowing that I had found my girl just in time before my death by a Beta. Alpha Ash set himself down, as the Beta walked around and placed himself on the other side of the desk.
“I have to excuse Alpha Archer, he will be running a bit late, something had happened to the Luna, but they will be here shortly.” Derek told Alpha Ash, making me frown.
“Bec? Is she OK?” I asked him, not caring about the look that he had just thrown my way. He just shrugged.
“Turns out her father is here.” He spoke, which sucked all of the air out of my lungs.
“Alfred? Bec’s father is here? Is he alive?” I asked, feeling like a complete fool. What the hell had happened when I was in my room with Amber? We had been inside my room for one night only, and it looked as if the world had gone mad during that time. Bec's father had gone missing almost a year ago. We had all thought that he had died. And now, he was here? Derek just sent me the evil eye once again, clearly not wanting to tell me more about the subject of my best friend. So, I just sighed and shook my head as I leaned against the wall. I would wait until Bec was here, and I would find out any other way. I didn’t even know how long I had been leaning against Alpha Archer’s office wall, until the door finally opened and he walked inside, holding on to Bec, as they closed the door shut behind them.
“Alpha Ash,” Archer nodded at my Alpha, before his eyes took in Milo, the wizard. Like any Alpha, he saw Milo as a threat to his pack. Even though I honestly believed that this Milo had a heart of gold. He had shown that when helping us to rebuild the Spike pack anyway. Introductions were made and when all formalities were done and dealt with, the conversation finally took a turn into the direction that I wanted it to go. Alpha Ash stated that Tim, the fucker who I had beaten up badly last night, was indeed, dead. Killed by the Alpha himself. And once again, I felt free. Knowing that I had kept my promise to Tamara and was now finally able to live my own life. And knowing what an asshole Tim had been, Alpha Ash didn’t seem to mind that he had been killed either. He had broken werewolf law. Any wolf knew that the punishment for that was death. Especially when you go out and threaten a freaking Luna.
“Tim got onto our lands with the help of the former Alpha. He placed the entire pack in danger by doing so, and broke pack rules. I have questioned his mate, and I know for a fact that despite living a horrible life next to that man, she did not have a part in this. Therefore, I will only punish the former Alpha. The former Luna, on her part, has requested to break their mate bond.” Archer spoke as he now looked at Milo, the wizard. And I was surprised, more than anything. The former Alpha had played a part in all of this? I wondered what the story was there, but somehow, it didn’t connect with me. What mattered to me was that Tim was dead and gone. But at least now, hearing how the former Luna wanted to break the mate bond, I understood why a wizard was sitting in the room with us. They needed him to sever the mate bond. Which, in my opinion, was an even worse punishment than death.
“Do you know anything about a blue diamond inside the Spike pack?” Archer all of a sudden asked my Alpha, Ash, who eyed him in wonder. My heart stopped, as Alpha Archer mentioned it as well.
How the hell does he know about that?
I was catapulted back in time, back to one of the first weeks during my training to become a pack warrior inside the Spike pack, when I had been trained by the Spike pack’s Beta, Jamie.
“Becoming a warrior is quite easy.” The Beta had spoken towards a group of us, all young guys, ready to find their spot inside the pack, a job or a future.
“First, you learn how to become strong, how to become smart and how to fight.” Jamie had looked around, making eye contact with as many wolves as he could.
“Every day, you will come here for your basic training. Once that is completed, you will get a choice, or the Alpha and I will help you make that decision for you. Warriors can either stand guard at the borders, become fighters in case of an attack, or become an enforcer.” I had frowned my eyes at the last option, and so had some other guys. We had never even heard of that term before. And Jamie had smiled at that.
“The last part is only up for a few men. Most of you will end up guarding the pack or fighting for it. Maybe even both. But when you have a mate, a family, believe me, the last option of enforcer is not for you.” He had stated, making all of us nod. But after training, I had walked up to the Beta, somehow feeling intrigued by his conversation.
“Beta, sir.” I had called out to him as I had walked over towards him. He had turned around to face me and nodded.
“Tyler.” He had nodded back at me, sending me a gentle smile. It was rare to see the Beta smile. During training, he was always dominant, his head in the game, wanting his students to become the best and strongest version of themselves.
“I would like to know more about becoming an enforcer.” I had admitted to him, and even he seemed surprised.
“You have a family. Parents, a sister and brother.” He told me, to which I had just shrugged.
“Who can all live their lives without me.” I had added.
“I would like to know more about it, sir.” I had confessed to him. I had lost Tamara, there was no more love in my life, nor did I want it at the time. If this had been a way for me to escape, I wanted it. The Beta had looked at me for a few seconds, before he decided to nod and tell me.
“An enforcer does not only work for his Alpha, but also for the council.” The Beta had told me, once that everyone had left the training facility.
“They clean up someone else’s mess.” The Beta had added, which had made me frown. Were we learning how to fight, in order to clean? But the Beta had just laughed.
“For example,” The Beta stated,
“A group of rogues wander around our borders, because they used to do business with us, but that business has stopped now that a new Alpha has taken over.” I nodded, understanding that in our case, this could have been a very real situation.
“There is a story about one of the rogues fell in love with a pack member of ours. But she pushed him away. Knowing that we would never take him in as a rogue, and knowing very well that there was no chance of a normal life for herself out in the wild. The man gave her a necklace, not just a necklace, a diamond one, a blue diamond. Probably bought with blood money. Now, the story I am telling you is all speculation. There is no proof of it being real. Since this is just a love story, that is the way that we are calling it. But, if this would put the pack in danger, we would send an enforcer in. He would go undercover, find out what the real deal was there, and take care of the problem, so that the pack and everyone living inside the pack would remain safe.” I had frowned, looking up at my Beta.
“Why doesn’t the Alpha fix the problem?” I had asked him, but he had just laughed.
“Because Tyler, they would see him coming from a mile away. Everyone knows who the Alpha is. Hell, anyone can sense it on him as well.” And I had nodded, knowing that it made all the sense in the world.
“But trust me, Tyler,” Jamie had told me, looking serious again.
“Becoming an enforcer, is not a fun job. Many men step into the game but never come back from it. If you would go in there, and they would find out who you were, there would be no one to protect you, not even your Alpha. You would be on your own. When they would find out who you really are, they would be coming after your family first.” And I had just nodded, understanding what the Beta was telling me here.
“Tyler,” the Beta had spoken to me, making me look him in the eye.
“You are a good guy, you don’t want to get involved in something so dark as this.” And I had nodded, taken the Beta’s word for it. But he had been wrong. Because I wasn’t going to become an enforcer because it was a dark place and I was a nice guy. Because I wasn’t, I wasn’t becoming an enforcer, because there was no chance for me to kill Tim, when I would be playing a hero somewhere else far away from my pack. I needed to stay inside the Spike pack, to be able to kill the fucker who had hurt Tamara.
It was all real? The story Jamie had told me back then, was really real? And not just that, Archer had actually pulled out baby Nikki’s stuffed bear from a drawer of his desk, showing that a blue diamond was hidden inside of it. Not only was the story true now, the girl of the story had been none other than Tamara? The girl that I had loved, had been involved with a rogue? Was that why she had pushed me away? And I found myself getting f*****g livid over this. Not just because of what Tamara had done and how she had kept this a secret from me and her sister Bec. But what if that fucker Tim wasn’t the one who had caused Tamara to die? What if it had been this f*****g rogue, that had pushed her over the edge? And I started to shake in my anger, as reality set in to my brain.
This wasn’t over.
I wasn’t free
The one who was responsible for Tamara’s death
was still out there, somewhere.
I wasn’t free to live my own life.
I couldn’t move over here.
And I couldn’t live the life that I wanted.
with Amber…
It wasn’t over at all.
