Ella’s POV
I walked into my house feeling like I was floating on clouds. I had never felt like this and it was amazing. “Snow, why are you so quiet? That was a fantastic date with our mate and you haven’t said or done anything.”
“I’m here. Yes, mate is nice, and that was a good date.”
This wolf of mine makes me feel like I am not even half wolf. She barely talks to me, she hates shifting and forget about fighting. She’s too small and too weak. My parents had us tested to see if something was wrong, but they never could figure anything out, so we all decided it was what it was and left it alone. Now I wish she was a little more excited about her mate, at least. This was something that I needed to talk to Korbin about. It might be a problem for him and if it was we would just need to go our separate ways now.
I crawled into bed and tried to go to sleep but now I was to wired from thinking about everything that happened on our date. Finally, giving up on sleep at the moment, I got up and grabbed my laptop and went to looking at med schools in Connecticut. I forgot to ask him where his pack is in Connecticut. I wasn’t sure which one would be my best option to look at, so I just looked at the four they had and hoped that it would be close that I could transfer. I would need to start calling them soon and figuring things out.
I looked at my laptop screen and studied the schools until I fell asleep. When I woke up the next morning, I rolled over and grabbed my cell and found that it wasn’t morning at all but one in the afternoon. I’ve never slept this late. I jumped out of bed and quickly got ready for the day. When I walked out into the living room, no one was there. My mom was still at work as a councilor and my dad was technically retired as Alpha, but he still did a lot of work with the council since he was a member.
I walked into the kitchen just as my stomach growled. I headed towards the fridge when a bouquet of flowers caught my eye. I changed directions to go look at them and when I got there, the name on the card was mine. I smiled from ear to ear at what he had gotten me. This was another first, that was for sure. I grabbed the card and opened it up.
Ella,
Thank you for a wonderful date. I was hoping that maybe this afternoon our wolves could run. Enzo is dying to meet his mate. Here is my number. Text me when you are ready. By the way, you looked stunning last night and I can’t wait to take you out again.
-K
I pulled my phone out of my shorts pocket and put his number in really fast. Then I took the card to my room and went to the kitchen. I quickly made a sandwich to eat and then sent Korbin a text.
Me: Thank you for the flowers. They are beautiful. Before we let our wolves out, I need to talk to you about something. Can we meet in a little while? We can run on pack grounds.
K: You are welcome. Beautiful flowers for a beautiful girl. I can meet you whenever you would like.
Me: Great, can you give me an hour and then meet me at my house?
K: I will be there.
I hurried and finished eating and went and slipped my shoes on and waited for him. I was pacing the living room, waiting for him. My stomach was up in knots because of what I had to tell him. It was make or break time. I know a lot of Alpha’s want their Luna to be strong and powerful and their wolf as well, but that just wasn’t us. She wasn’t even trying to calm me down. Korbin knocking on the door had me frozen in place.
I walked over and slowly opened the door, and there stood Korbin. Looking as good as ever. I felt guilty because of what happened last night and he didn’t know the truth yet.
“Hi, beautiful,” he said, leaning in and kissing my cheek.
“Hey.”
“I think I might love you in shorts and that tank top just as much as I do in that dress last night,” he said with a wicked grin on his face. Then he pulled me into him for a much deeper, hotter kiss, that had my toes curling and my knees going weak.
He finally pulled away and brushed a piece of hair out of my face. He kept his hands around my waist and held me to him. “What did you want to talk about before our run?”
“Why don’t we head to the clearing and I will tell you on the way.”
He grabbed my hand, and those sparks were still there, but they felt lighter than what I felt last night. Maybe I was still tired.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” He asked as I led him to the clearing. I took a deep breath before I began.
“So my wolf isn’t normal.”
“What do you mean, your wolf isn’t normal?”
“I don’t know how to explain it correctly, but she has never had an interest in me. She barely talks to me. She doesn’t really like to shift, hates to run, she does not fight at all and is very tiny. We’ve done testing to see if there is something wrong with her, but nothing ever came up and I just accepted it for what it was.”
“That’s interesting.”
“I understand if you don’t want us as a mate. I just thought you should know what you're getting into beforehand.”
He stopped me and made me turn and look at him, “why wouldn’t I want you as my mate?”
“Most people want a powerful wolf as a mate, especially an Alpha. It’s important for bloodlines.”
“I don’t care about that. Our kids will be perfect because they are ours. I will protect you and your little wolf. You will make the perfect Luna. I just know it.”
His words had me blushing. I never thought he would be so OK with what I told him about my wolf, but he seems to have accepted it, no problem. We came to the clearing and I just kind of stood there. While wolves were comfortable being naked around each other, this was different. It was my mate, and he had yet to see me naked, and I wasn’t sure I was ready for that.
“Why don’t you go shift and I will wait here for you. I would love to meet Snow before I shift.”
I kissed his cheek and walked behind a bush and stripped down and called Snow forward, but as usual, she didn’t want to shift.
“Please Snow. You are going to meet your mate,” I begged her.
“Fine, but not for long.” She said and then finally shifted. We stretched out and walked over to where Korbin was standing. He reached out and petted her. She seemed to love this as she rubbed herself all over him. This was the most excitement I felt from her ever. I liked it. Maybe he was the clue to helping her. Maybe she would come out of her shell more now.
“Ella wasn’t lying when she said you were tiny. You are like the size of a medium-sized dog,” he said, laughing but still petting her.
She c****d her head back and looked at him. She didn’t like his comment, but didn’t do anything. He started to remove his clothes, and we turned around to give him some privacy as well. After he shifted, he came up behind us and ran his snout along our neck and then took off running.
Snow trotted behind him, but she was in a hurry to catch him. Enzo was large, but as an Alpha, he would be bigger than most. He was a dark gray and beautiful. He noticed that we hadn’t caught up to him and so he circled back around and ran behind snow and nipped at her heels and she growled at him, not loving that action.
We ended up going for a walk and not a run because Snow refused, and it didn’t last very long because she was ready to shift back. She turned and headed back to our clothes and when we got there; she shifted the second we were behind the bush with our clothes. When I walked back out, Korbin had shifted as well and gotten dressed.
“I’m sorry. I know that is not what Enzo wanted.”
“He’s fine. He just wanted to meet his mate, and I can tell you that he feels very protective of her already.”
“Thats good because she won’t fight if something happens.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you or her.”
We walked back to the pack house and sat down to have dinner in the dining hall with everyone else. We sat at the table with both my brothers and Lydia. Both of my brothers fell into conversation with Korbin like they were old buddies. I talked a little with Lydia. She was always so sweet and knew that I wasn’t much of a social person and always let me lead the conversation.
“Ella, how about we go out and get some ice cream for dessert?” Korbin asked as soon as we finished dinner.
“That sounds fantastic.”
This time, I drove us into town. He did look a little cramped in my car, though. It’s small, and he isn’t. I had to laugh at the sight of his seat scooted all the way back and yet his legs still couldn’t stretch out all the way.
“I think when you move with me that getting you a new car is in order.”
“Why?”
“Because I feel like I am in a clown car. It’s small and I’m a big guy.” He said, and I giggled.
I pulled into the ice cream parlor and we went in and both ordered some and took it back outside to eat it. We found a table in the corner on their patio.
“Ella, I have a serious question to ask you?”
“OK, what’s up?”
“I have to leave next week. I want you to come back with me. Come back for the summer and get to know my pack and we can look at schools in the area. I don’t know if I can go back without you.”
“Really? You want me to come with you?”
“Of course I do. You’re my mate and I can’t wait to let the pack know they are finally getting their Luna. Well, I’m not Alpha yet. I was waiting to find my mate. It was important to both me and my dad that I have her before he hands the pack over.”
“Wow. Yes!”
“Really, you will?”
“Yes! We can’t get to know each other if I stay here and honestly, I don’t want to leave you either.”
“Great. I do need to head home by Thursday. It’s a long drive, and I thought it would be fun if we stopped at a few places. Like a little mini road trip vacation on the way there.”
“That sounds amazing.”
“How much should I pack? Just stuff for the summer?”
“Yes, and then if you don’t get into a med school by me, you can come back here and attend school until you get into one closer to me. If you do get in, then we will fly back out and pack everything up and hire movers and then fly home.”
“That sounds perfect. Now we just have to break the news to my parents. They aren’t going to be happy.”
