Chapter 8

Korbin’s POV

I drove Ella back to her pack house. She wanted to go back to the same spot as yesterday, but the block I had on the mate bond was working and I didn’t want to be around her right now. I could feel myself getting irritated and needed a little space.

The drive home was going to be long. I had to work out a plan with Aaron and that was my plan for the night. I told Ella that I was tired and wanted a good night’s sleep. That we would talk to her parents in the morning and I would help her start packing the stuff she wanted to bring.

I pulled into Elias’ driveway and headed inside. Both he and Elias were sitting on the couch, talking and drinking some beer. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed myself and beer and went back to the living room with them.

“Learned something new today,” I told Aaron.

“Whats that?”

“Her wolf is small and basically nonexistent. Doesn’t talk to her and doesn’t like to shift and when she does, she won’t run or do much and also refuses to fight. It will make taking her down that much easier. Not that I was worried about it because she’s a woman and strength wise she isn’t strong enough, but sometimes an angry she wolf is something else sometimes.”

“Good. Did she agree to go home with you?”

“All too easily. We are going to leave on Thursday. I will go back tomorrow to talk to her parents about it and also help her pack her things.”

“So we’ve got a few days. Elias is working up some potions for you. Some to make her sleep so you don’t have to put up with her on the drive and more to block your mate bond.”

“I am. They will be ready before you leave and I am also working on something special for later, but that is a surprise.”

“Are you coming back with Aaron?”

“I am.”

“I can tell you that we can’t have you on pack grounds. You know how that goes, but I do have a place that you can stay.”

“Great.”

“So I figured we would leave at the same time as you and we will stay back. She will never know that we’re following you guys.”

“I told her I wanted to take my time and maybe stop at a few places, but I think we will drive straight through, only stopping to sleep. Elias, you better have plenty of that sleeping potion.”

“I do, don’t worry.”

“Aaron, did you come up with a plan for when we get close and how we will bring her in? I know we discussed it a little, but nothing in concrete.”

“How about this? Our last night on the road we stop about four hours from home to camp and she comes in looking for food and attacks you. So you bring her back and place her in the dungeon so that you can figure out why she did it and if she has anyone else around like they are spying on the pack. Leave her there until it’s time to execute our plan.”

“That could work. We’re going to need some silver cuffs and were also going to have to rough her up a little bit. Also, need more of a story than that. Like she was the only we could catch. Maybe they were moving in on us and when we woke up, they spooked off and we caught her.”

“That’s more like,” Aaron said, laughing.

We sat around talking through more of the plan and drinking beer well into the night. Finally, having enough to drink and being exhausted, I headed to bed. I was in serious need of some sleep. I was out before my head hit the pillow.

I woke up the next morning or early afternoon. I wasn’t really sure, but with the way the sun was through the window, it had to be close to noon. I grabbed my phone and found I had a few missed calls from Amberly and a text from Ella.

“Good morning baby,” I said as soon as Amberly answered the phone.

“I miss you. When are you coming back?”

“I’m going to head back on Thursday morning. Should be in Sunday, late or early Monday.”

“Good, I am so ready for you to be here.”

“I miss you too and can’t wait to be there, holding you, kissing you, taking your clothes off and burring myself inside of you.”

“Turn on video call,” she said and her voice had dropped trying to sound sexy and it was working. I flipped my phone around and turned on the video call.

We both just sat there listening to each other breathe hard while we came down from our little escapade.

“Korbin,” she said, still out of breath.

“I love you. Come home soon.”

“I love you too and I will be home before you know it.”

“How are things going with your birth mother?”

“Good. I have gotten to know her better, and she has answered a lot of my questions. I am glad that I came here. I also have a half brother.”

“That’s so cool. Do you think you will stay in contact with them?”

“I will with my brother for sure. I know Samantha struggles with me being around, and I can understand it.”

“I’m glad that you were able to do this.”

“Me too, and thank you for giving me the time to do it. When I get home, I am going to make it up to you. We are going to spend an entire weekend in bed. Maybe well go to town and get a hotel room for the weekend and spend it naked and ordering room service.”

“That sounds wonderful.”

I talked to Amberly for a little longer and finally hung up with her. I then read my message from Ella. She said she had talked to the school that I told her was closest to the pack and they had an opening and that she had an interview for two weeks after she got there.

I sent her one back telling her how excited that made me and that I would help her prepare whatever she needed. It was all a lie, but she didn’t know that. I still had to go over to help her. We also had to talk with her parents. I wasn’t sure how well that would go over, but she was an adult and she had already made up her mind.

Once I was ready for the day, I went downstairs and grabbed some lunch. Elia was gone and Aaron went for a run, so I had the house to myself.

A few hours later, I pulled up in front of Ella’s house and she came running out and greeted me at my door.

“Hey,” she said with the biggest smile on her face. As soon as I was out, she wrapped her arms around me and went to kiss me, but I stepped back. Her face showed the hurt on it.

“Sorry, not in front of your parents. I don’t want them to see us kissing.”

“Oh, ok,” she said, stepping back even further, but it wasn’t that. I couldn't care less about that. I felt guilty. Guilty for Amberly because technically I was cheating on her, but she would never find out. When this was all done, I would make sure she knew that she was the only one I ever wanted. She is the one I love.

“Come on. Let’s go work on packing up your room.”

I grabbed her hand, and we went into her house. Her parents were sitting in the living room.

“Hello Korbin,” Samantha said as we walked through the room. I shouted a hello back to them as Ella dragged me back to her room.

Walking into her room, her scent was so strong in her. It was hard to ignore, even with the potion that Elias had given me. He may have to up the dose of it.

I looked around her room and it was very girly, which didn’t surprise me. Pink blankets on the bed, paintings of flowers on the wall and a desk thing with a large mirror on it. It was covered in make-up and hair stuff.

“Come on, I have bags in my closet and, well, that’s where all of my clothes are.”

“Maybe we should talk to your parents first. I don’t want them to think that we are going behind their backs.”

“Probably, but are ready to do that.”

I walked over and hugged her to reassure her that it was going to be ok. I couldn’t have her backing out now. It would ruin our plan.

“More than ready. We have to be honest with them.”

“OK,” she said and then went up on her tiptoes and kissed me.

We walked out into the living room holding hands and sat down on the couch next to the love seat her parents were sitting on.

“Mom, Dad, we want to talk to you.”

Her dad turned off the TV, and they turned to look at both of us. Ella had sat so close to me that she might as well be sitting on my lap.

“Before you guys say anything, I just want to say that I am proud of how both of you have handled this situation. Korbin, I am sure that this has not been easy on you and you have handled it well. You have given our Ella a chance and not questioned the mate makes me very proud.”

“Thank you. Ella is an amazing girl, and I am proud that she is my mate.” I said, lying through my teeth, but they couldn’t tell and Ella was now red in the face.

“OK, enough of all of that. I am going to spend the summer with Korbin in his pack. I am also going to be looking at schools while I am there. I actually have an interview in two weeks. The med school there has an opening and if all goes well, I will transfer there.”

“No.” Alex growled out and then stormed out of the room.
