Mates...

Chapter 7 - Present - Maria Back in her hotel room, Ria opened the door when she heard the Gamma's voice; Arcana was talking in the bathroom with her Mate on the phone. The she-wolf was so distracted that she didn't even notice him, or at least, she chose to ignore the Vampire instead, who just left again without saying anything. ... After all, she didn't want to hear about the others romantic life right now... Christmas ornaments decorated the streets everywhere, reminding Maria of her own childhood home. Her mother's favorite season was Christmas, and she would always make all her children help her when it was time to organize the house. As the one in charge, she would decide which decor to put on the big Christmas tree that every single year stayed next to the fireplace, which had their family pictures over it. Ria was not as addicted to Christmas as her mother or many other people were wanting to decorate the whole house with fairy lights if possible. However, she couldn't deny that she missed those afternoons where they spent the whole time together, drinking hot cocoa while their mom hummed around the room, making both Maria and her brothers, and even her father sometimes, sing along with her in the end. ... Forming beautiful and messy music that only the voices of a family would be able to create... However, none of this mattered more to Ria when a young man bumped into her on the street. He wasn't her type or anything like that, but the way his face flushed after look at her proved that he was the perfect distraction that she was searching for at the moment... Eyes glowing red, she just needed to whisper few words in his ear before getting what she wanted, creating a smile on her face as they returned to his apartment, where she would spend the rest of the night alone with her... Dessert. * * * "C'mon, so tell me, how was your date?" Lying on his bed as it belonged to me, I didn't care about making his Mate leave the room so we could talk about this without anyone disturbing us... Including the annoying pup and his young siblings. "Ria..." By the way, he looked at me, removing his eyes from his cell phone; it was clear that he didn't want to talk about that, despite the smile that returned to his face when he saw the video he had recorded earlier. ... He was completely a silly parent now... What had interrupted his date with Alpha had been no big deal, just a simple message from his in-laws mentioning that the pups had walked for the first time. But that was enough for them to stop whatever they were doing and run back to the hotel to see it in person as if they didn't live all together. However, honestly, who was I to judge them? I wasn’t a mother, so I had no idea if it was really that exciting for them, or if one day, I would be like them too if I had a child... ... Yet, I must say it was quite shocking to see the two youngest pups walking simultaneously as if that were something destined to happen since the beginning... "C'mon, Jo. Tell me, what did you do?" Trying to make him stop ignoring me, I pulled him onto the bed while I continued to fill him with questions. "Did you guys do something romantic, or... You just went to another room directly, and this is why you guys came back so fast?" His face flushed so fast after this that I could only think that I was right. "... Wait, you guys really-" "NO!" His face was yet completely red when he interrupted me before he finally decided to share a little about his date with me. "... We had a romantic day before we came back, although it wasn't how I planned it." "And..." Wanting to know more about what they did together, I think it was fair after he woke me up at dawn, making me spend almost three hours helping him choose what he would wear. And don't ask me how he made Gamma disappear from the room since when I woke up, she was no longer in there, and I wondered if that had anything to do with his aunt... "You can say that the first part was as I planned... We had breakfast with the pups, went to some bookstores for Liam to see if they had the books he wanted, we went to the movie theater-" "Movie theater?" Arching one of my eyebrows, I ended up asking him, making him sigh before keep going. "Yeah, cliche, I know, but either way, they didn't have the movie we wanted to see, and all the options they had were either movies that we didn't like or very boring ones." Lying on the bed like me, he staring at the ceiling while remembering everything they did earlier. "So, Liam said we could do something else before taking me to the beach, and... And..." Slowly, his face turned red again, and it wasn't hard to imagine that the Alpha had complete control over my friend's heart. Even I couldn't deny that they were made for each other, real Mates... After all, even the wolf reacted timidly yesterday when Jordan told him about that date. "Okay! Okay! You don't have to tell me any more. I don't want to have nightmares tonight." Respecting their privacy, I spoke before I started laughing when he told me to shut up, throwing a pillow in my face while he was still flushed when he said that nothing had happened yet... Yes, yet... Joking a little more about it with him, it didn't take so long before we started talking about something else completely different. "So, how are you feeling?" Lying beside me, he asked me in such a soft voice, almost as if he were the young boy I met years ago again. "I don't know what happened, but I hope that someday you will be able to share it with me." Honestly, hearing him say that left me feeling without reaction as no words wanted to leave my mouth, so I just hugged him, laying my head on his shoulder before a snarl bothered us. ... His Alpha was at the bedroom door, arms crossed as he looked at me, yet something in his gaze told me that his growl hadn't been one out of jealousy before I hissed back to him, leaving my friend's arms... "Well, I can see that my presence is no longer wanted here." Getting up from the bed, I mentioned, glancing back to Jordan. "So I will leave you guys alone now to do all the dirty things that couples like to do." As if what happened minutes ago were nothing, I completely distracted Jo with that simple phrase, making him call my real name as I left the room, stopping only when I was next to Alpha to thank him in a voice so low that just he could be able to hear me...
