Chapter 8 - Past - Maria
Without caring about others' opinions, they lived their lives freely without caring about what was happening in the world without caring about anything else.
Traveling to where they wanted, doing what they wanted, drinking what they wanted without anyone bothering them, it was just so perfect.
... That was the good life that Maria lived with her boyfriend...
Having fun together in any way they wanted, they went from one town to another as if the next day didn't exist, stopping only when the money ran out, and they needed to work to get more.
However, of course, this doesn't mean that they stayed for a long time, and in less than three months, the young couple returned to the road thanks to the luck that Silvio had when it came to betting.
Learning when he was a small child with his father how to play cards, the man was very confident about his skills, and that was the first place he looked for when they arrived in a new city.
... But Luck wasn't always with him when the locals got tired of losing to him or when he tried to bet on horses...
Leaving to another town again, Ria and Silvio were on their way to their next destination when his bike broke down on the route.
And for about two hours, the young woman waited for her boyfriend to fix the vehicle. However, the longer she waited for him, the hunger she got until she finally decided to get something to eat without him.
Hopefully, she imagined that he would finish it soon and meet her at the restaurant that she saw not too far from there...
The place was quite simple, typical of something that someone would find on the side of a highway.
There were only two other customers besides her, truck drivers, she thought due to their clothes and the two monstrous vehicles she saw outside.
Finishing ordering their food, she cannot fail to notice how entertained both men were with the radio, paying much more attention to whatever news than she ever did at school.
Therefore, she was soon distracted by something else after hearing just a few things like the end of the war and defeat, making her wonder if it was the same one that her older brother, who was a soldier, had gone too, only to return with a leg so badly hurt that he was only able to work while sitting down now in their family's garage.
... But again, none of that interested her.
And in the same way, she couldn't imagine that the other person she knew had also been affected by that war, yet sadly, he hadn't been lucky enough like her older brother to come back home...

I didn't need to read minds to know that something special should have happened between Jordan and his Mate after leaving them alone last night when I saw his smile today.
It was lighter than the sunlight, and maybe it could have even melted me if I had met him right after become a being of the Supernatural world, and such thoughts made me laugh as I looked at him.
But, of course, he didn't notice it while playing with the little girl in his arms, and he probably wouldn't even be able to hear me now if I tried to call him, seeing how distracted he was amind that happiness he lived.
... And probably anyone would show that same smile too if they were living his life right now...
Returning to the room with their oldest puppy, his Alpha said that we would be leaving in two hours, so he shouldn't forget to confirm that they weren't leaving anything there.
Looking at me, he repeated the same words as if I were a child or not there, and it just made me point my finger to my suitcase, which was next to the door, perfectly arranged differently from the room they were using.
... Toys were scattered everywhere, along with baby stuff on the table and the nightstands...
Returning my attention to the sweet little boy who was the little hybrid beside me, I just ignored them while they packed their things with the help of the older one who sometimes stopped to watch too the short film that was distracting his siblings.
About an hour later, the room was back to its original state when the Gamma arrived with a snack for everyone, along with Kiandra, Jordan's aunt that I knew so well.
... She was actually his great-grandaunt, but she hated it when anyone mentioned that fact...
After we finished our food, we were soon going down with all our bags to continue our trip to their Pack, but this time, I was taking extra luggage with me besides my own... Sleeping in my arms, the little Japanese wolf didn't seem to care about anything else as he held on tightly to my shirt, not letting go of me even when his parents tried to pick him up.
So with him yet glued to me, we were leaving the hotel when I felt a soft touch on my left hand, making me look down before I noticed that Nicholas was holding it.
His face was turned away, almost as if he didn't want me to notice what he was doing, even being, a little... Cute, if I should say so.
... And seeing him like this created a small smile on my face due to his unusual manner that I could easily interpret as him being jealous that I was holding his younger brother...
And in that way, as if everything was perfectly normal, we were almost in the car when something stopped me before I heard someone's voice...
A cold shiver running through my body when I saw his hand on my arm, making me hold my breath... Just seconds before, my eyes met his light ones.
