Prologue - Past Wild and free, like a horse without rules, those were the best words to describe the young Maria who loved to listen to everyone but her parents or brothers... But how much she wanted to had heard her mother in the past when she woke up in that motel bed alone, disoriented while the strong smell of blood was yet in the air.   ... With the strong smell of her blood all over the room...    It would be strange not to think that nobody would notice anything seeing her condition on the mattress. However, her lover and she always paid for all the days in advance at the beginning of the month, asking no one bother them unless they asked for someone to clean the room. So it was in this way that she woke up there, two days later, alone, trying to understand what happened while she thought that everything she went through was more like a horror movie than reality before getting up on her weak legs. And unconsciously, she looked for him, for his things, which seemed to have disappeared along with the suitcase that they always shared from a town to another... ... The closet was empty. The bathroom too, and nothing that indicated his presence in there, had been forgotten in the motel, besides her... She opened the dirty curtain with shaking hands to see if the old pickup truck, which she had bought when she learned to drive after he put them in an accident due to lack of sleep, was still there at least. However, she couldn't confirm anything when a sharp pain startled her, noticing then what looked like a burn on her hand that touched the window and was exposed to the sun. And only in the following morning, when she tried to leave, she understood that it had been caused by the sunlight, denying her from been under it no matter how many times she tried. It was almost as if it was also blaming her for everything that happened while her mother's annoying voice kept repeating in her ears that she had warned her about him, about how he wasn't a good boy for her or any other girl.   ... But again, Ria heard what everyone told her but her family... Tears streamed down her face for the rest of the week that she stayed there, each one falling for a different reason than the other. However, the worst was that despite everything, she was still missing him. ... And it took a while to disappear before she learned that love was a lie, and that no matter how many promises people made to each other, the ending would always be the same... Or at least, she believed so... Years and years went by one after another, and for the first time, she thought she saw true love before her when she met the family of the young Jordan, the boy who was always alone on the beach when she visited that small coastal town. His parents had a fondness for each other that made her remember her own even if she didn't want to, and as if Fate was playing with her, she saw it again on her best friend's face years later. Jordan and his Mate seemed to be more than made for each other, happy with their family, living on that old farm, which the couple called Pack.   ... So no matter how much she wanted to deny it, she had to agree that it was love every time she looked at the couple... But with a sigh, as she ate another piece of the pie, she knew that it wasn't something she would ever experience despite all the illusions that her young self used to have in the past. Love wasn't for her, and no one would ever be able to change her mind about it as she continued to enjoy her life freely as she always did, enjoying her life in the touches of thousands amid her endless loneliness, after all... She was a Vampire now, turned in a cheap motel room, so what kind of fairy tales can she hope to live? One similar to her friend? ... No, that would be impossible. Jordan was someone special, sweet, and deserved all the good things that happened to him after meeting William. ... However, she couldn't say the same about herself...  She was irresponsible, a terrible daughter who ran away from home at the young age of sixteen for a silly reason, who never spoke to her mother again after that, or even went to her funeral.   ... she was just so bad... Ria didn't believe there was any hope for her when it came to romance. She was a hopeless case that no angel would help until Fate decided to play with her, making her exchange glances with someone she met when he was just a pup after years, just to hear a simple word leave his mouth...
