Remembering the Past

Chapter 4 - Maria  "Is she... Growling?" Seeing how Jordan was looking at me, I could only think that I should be making a strange expression when I ended up asking him that, no caring the wolves could hear us. And for my defense, the youngest pup in his arms seemed to have no problem showing her animal side to the others despite her young age, snarling at the other pup that the Gamma was putting in her father's lap. Holding tightly to the Alpha's shirt, even though she was yet in my friend's arms, she made her eyes glow brightly while glancing at the little boy she still thought as strange, not having any bond with him as another member of her Pack or family. ... Or at least it was what Jo's other half had explained to me after my question... But honestly, maybe that might look adorable to some people like the Gamma, who kept saying that the little one had cute growls or something like that, yet I wasn't one of them. To me, the little girl in Jordan's arms was just a mini beast that was more unstable than the grown ones, making me want that private plane could land soon, allowing me to stay as far away as possible from them while I remember the bad decision I had made a few days ago. I mean... How the heck would I take care of that little monster and her new brother that she seemed to dislike so much?!  But back to what I was doing, I preferred to ignore all of that for now after the Alpha's answered me, playing on my phone with some random game since I had nothing else to do in that small space of the plane. Randomly combining similar figures, I thought about how I would go after some fresh prey to delight me in my bedroom later as there was no way better to drink blood than that, being no one in the world able to prove the contrary about that. Not even Valic, whom I liked to call my teacher from the Supernatural world, could be able to do that, though he was also the Vampire who taught me how to deal with such situations, teaching me what I should do if I lost control one day. ... Which, thankfully, I never needed to use... But either way, he was the man who taught me everything that I knew about our kind, and who helped me years ago when I was completely lost after being turned in... Well, in this! Valic was old, much older than me or anyone I had ever met, watching the world change several times with his sister, the only Vampire that I trusted besides him. ... It also reminded me that I would need to get in touch with them soon since I worked for the siblings for a few years now, warning them about any Supernatural creature that abused their powers and threatened the safety of... The creatures most people believe it doesn't exist. What made me think that I might be able to call Valic and Anya something like the cops from the Night World that Humans didn't know existed while I was...  I was their source, their informant who received money to travel around the world looking for these bad guys without dealing with any of them, which was the best way to live my new endless life. "R... Ria? Ria? Ria!" Bringing me back to reality, Jordan called me, informing me that we could leave the plane to my delight. ... However, it still took a while to arrive at the city where his Mate had business meetings to go to... In other words, more time stuck with a pack of wolves in a small space... Being finally free, the place we were in now was another coastal town. Still, according to what Jo informed me, that was just the place where the hotel that belonged to Shine Moon's Alpha, yay, more wolves, was located, or at least I think that was the name of the other pack... Anyway, placing my suitcase beside the bed in the room I was going to share over the next few days with Coleman's Gamma, I hoped that her pack members were the only werewolves I would have to deal with while I was here. ... Which once again contradicted the strange feeling that I continued to have in my chest, giving me chills all the way down my spine... ... Closing my eyes after the wonderful shower I needed that evening, I slowly started to fall asleep while I continued to hear the she-wolf complaining randomly about her Alpha on the bed beside mine, where she waited for her Mate to answer the messages she had sent earlier. Slowly her voice became more and more distant, and to be honest, I had no idea when I stopped listening to her and fell asleep, strangely dreaming about one part of my past that hadn't come to my mind in years. "... So, do you really like him that much?" That might seem like a ridiculous question. However, it made perfect sense for my younger self when Juan asked that. His face shyly blushed as he peeped at me from the corner of his eyes, playing with his fingers while trying to hide his true feelings. Being quite different from the character that had the same name as him, my old neighbor and childhood friend didn't understand how to deal with women at all, which was pretty obvious to everyone, especially for me, who had known him for years. ... And likewise, as far as I could remember, I knew that Juan liked me too... My old friend was kind, sweet, someone that anyone could count on at any time, and probably the person my parents would love to see as my boyfriend or husband. And I couldn't deny that even I would love to have him as a son-in-law if I had a daughter while we continued walking through that memory from my past. ... I couldn't remember why he had asked me to go for a walk that day, yet the picture of how sad he was when I told him that I would run away with Silvio was clearer than the sky in my mind... A strange smile that didn't reach his eyes dominated his lips, while tears that he didn't allow to fall in my presence made the expressions on his face even more melancholy. And this was one of those moments when I ended up wondering if I would have given up on everything if he had stopped me then. ... But again, I would never be able to know that answer as it was only an if question... My past had been more than tarnished by all the bad decisions I had made, but despite all that, there were still good things in between all the mess I had brought into my life, like having met Valic, Jordan, and the people who were their family like Anya and Lorry. "So don't worry, Angel. One day, I will find you again." Making me wake up immediately, I could swear it sounded like I could still hearing Juan's voice, mixed with one that I didn't want to remember even on my deathbed, leaving me confused about what it all meant.
