Making their way into the clinic, the doctor quickly ushered Skylar into a room helping her up onto the bed before he carefully started to unwrap her injured hand. Jackson hovered by the door worriedly, shuffling from foot to foot as he waited for the doctor to speak. Looking over the cut intently, the doctor turned Skylar’s hand back and forth, hmming quietly to himself as he inspected the slice in her flesh. ‘Is she OK Doctor James?’ Jackson asked finally, unable to wait any longer, ‘can you stitch it up for her?’ he added. Doctor James looked up at the Alpha, ‘Future Alpha, the Omega will be fine, and she will not require stitches, the skin is already knitting together nicely’ he said gruffly. Jackson strode over to Skylar, grabbing her hand to look for himself, ‘how? she’s an Omega’ he muttered in confusion. Snatching her hand back Skylar glared at the Alpha angrily, ‘I told you it wasn’t that bad, it was obviously nowhere near as deep as you were making out, you pulled me from my duties for nothing’ she grumbled. Jackson’s face clouded, ‘it looked deep from where I was standing, even Mrs Carter said is looked bad’ he muttered. ‘Well you were wrong, see’ she said, shoving he hand up to show the barely bleeding cut across her palm, ‘I was fine, now if you will excuse me I have work to do.’ Jumping off the bed, she thanked the doctor and tried to push past Jackson as Doctor Parker grabbed her arm. ‘Easy there Skylar’ he said in his friendly no nonsense voice, ‘just because it’s not that deep does not mean it doesn’t need cleaning and a cover.’ Grumbling under her breath, Skylar allowed the doctor to help her back onto the bed and sat pouting as he walked over to a set of drawers and started to pull out antiseptic wipes, a soft padding and a bandage. Making his way back, he made the Omega lay down before sitting on the small round stool next to her and started to clean the wound. Growling at the contact of the antiseptic on her cut, Skylar shut her eyes tight until he had finished. ‘All done’ he said finally, scooting back as she sat up and looked at her hand that was now wrapped in a clean white bandage. ‘Is this really necessary?’ she grumped in annoyance. ‘Sorry Skylar, but as an Omega wolf you may end up with an infection despite it not being too deep, it’s best to keep it clean until it’s healed to protect you and your wolf from illness’ Doctor Parker said kindly. Hopping back down from the bed, Skylar thanked the doctor again for his help before making her way out of the clinic, pushing away Jackson as he tried to take her arm. ‘Sky, I'm just trying to take you home’ Jackson sighed as she repeatedly pulled her arm away from his fingers. ‘I don’t need you to take me home’ Skylar growled back in annoyance, ‘I can make my own way.’ ‘Skylar stop’ Jackson growled in his Alpha tone, forcing her to submit against her will. Turning back she glowered at him in fury but was unable to keep walking. ‘I’m sorry Sky’ Jackson said sadly, ‘I don’t want to use my Alpha tone on you but you just wont listen.’ ‘I'm fed up of listening Jack’ Skylar flared back, ‘I am sick to death of being told how useless and weak I am, how I can’t heal, can’t protect myself, how I'm not good enough.’ Stomping her foot angrily, she glared at the young Alpha, meting his gaze challengingly, then watching with enjoyment as he fought with his wolf to not show her dominance. ‘I don’t think you are weak Sky’ Jackson mumbled after a few minutes, ‘just because you are an Omega doesn’t make you less capable’ Skylar huffed, crossing her arms but when the Alpha stepped forward and pulled her uninjured hand into his, she didn’t pull away this time. Gently pulling her along, Jackson led her back toward the front of the pack house toward his car. Opening the door for her, he waited as she slipped inside, as he was about to shut the door, a voice called out to him. ‘Jack! Where are you going? Dad is looking for you.’ Jackson’s twin sister Harper ran down the stairs and across the gravel toward them, stopping just short of the car. ‘Hey Harp, I'm just taking Skylar home, she got injured in the kitchen, can you let dad know I'll be up to see him as soon as I'm back?’ her brother asked. ‘Yeah sure’ Harper replied, bending slightly to look into the car, a smile on her face as her eyes locked with Skylar’s. Harper’s smile suddenly froze, Skylar gazing into the oceanic blue eyes, unable to look away from the girl in front of her. ‘Uh hi’ the Omega finally managed to squeak, dropping her gaze as her cheeks coloured. ‘Hi’ Harper replied, her tone guarded as she straightened up and stepped back. ‘So can you pass my message on sis?’ Jackson asked, breaking the awkward atmosphere. ‘Yeah, of course, just hurry up as you know how dad gets when you keep him waiting’ Harper replied, before spinning on her heel and sprinting back to the front door without a backwards glance. Slamming the car door, Jackson jogged around the bonnet, opening the driver’s door and sliding into his seat. Pulling on his seatbelt, he waited for Skylar to do the same, grabbing it after a few minutes and clicking it for her when she was unable to put enough pressure on the clip it her injured hand to fasten it. Starting the engine, the Alpha backed out of his space and turned the car, heading back down to the end of the drive, once at the bottom he looked at Skylar expectantly. ‘Why are you staring?’ the Omega asked annoyed. ‘I don’t know where your house is’ Jackson replied with a chuckle. Colouring slightly, Skylar started to give him directions until they finally pulled up in front of their small home at the edge of the territory. Turning off the engine, Jackson jumped out of the vehicle and ran around to Skylar’s side, opening it before she had a chance to unbuckle her seat belt. ‘I can open the door myself you know’ she grumbled as she scrambled out ‘You can, but sometimes it’s nice to have someone do it for you Sky, just accept my help and stop being so catty’ Jackson replied with a grin as he opened the back door and grabbed her bag that he had slung onto the seat before they left. The young Omega scowled, ‘i am not catty!’ she argued. ‘Oh I disagree, are you sure you are a wolf? Maybe you are part jaguar or Leopard’ he teased as he walked with her to her front door. Skylar shoved him in the shoulder, a grin fighting to make itself known as she rummaged in her pocket for her front door key. Pulling it out, she tried to get it into the lock with her left hand, grumbling under her breath before admitting defeat and thrusting it at Jackson who slid the key easily into the lock and opened the door for her. Following her inside, Jackson placed Skylar’s school bag on the floor just inside of the door before following her into the kitchen where she grabbed two glasses from the cabinet and poured them both some juice. Taking a seat at the kitchen table, the pair sipped their drinks in silence until Skylar broke it, ‘don’t you have to get back to th pack house? The Alpha is waiting for you’ she remarked softly. Jackson gave her a slow smile, ‘it’s OK, my dad can wait, I just want to make sure that you are fine before I leave’ he replied. Once their drinks were finished, Skylar stood up and led the future Alpha to the door, opening it for him and stepping back to let him past. As he made his way outside, Skylar stopped him, ‘um, thanks for looking after my stubborn a*s Jack’ she said with an embarrassed smile. Jackson chuckled, ‘my pleasure, what can I say? I am an awesome friend’ he replied cheekily before leaning over and placing a soft kiss on the Omega’s forehead and tuning away to walk toward his car. Slipping inside, he gave a final wave before starting the engine and pulling away, his read lights soon disappearing within the trees that surrounded the Omega’s house. Stepping back inside, Skylar slowly shut the door before turning and making her way to her bedroom, entering the room she dropped down onto the bed, laying back on the pillows and pulled a the crocheted blanket over herself. Closing her eyes, she hoped that sleep would take her, despite it being early afternoon, she hated to admit that her body trying to fix her damaged hand was sapping her of her energy. As she relaxed into the softness of her pillow, two oceanic blue eyes floated into her mind, their colour piercing through her like they knew her, causing her stomach to clench slightly. Sighing heavily, Skylar tried to push the confusing thoughts from her mind, relaxing her muscles and allowing her body to succumb to her subconscious dreams as sleep took her, the image of the Alpha’s daughter haunting her.
