Chapter Eight

2004 Words
It has been a few days since Klaus and I left Mystic Falls. We are in a hotel room with a few hybrids downstairs waiting for us. I step out of the shower and realize I forgot a change of clothes in the room. I peek out the door and see Klaus is on a phone call by the window. I try to sneak over to my bag, but he turns around as he hangs up his phone, finding me rummaging through my bag. Klaus: “Forgot your clothes, didn’t you?” Allison: “So it would seem.” Klaus: “Need any help, love?” Allison: “No, thanks. I can manage on my own.” I grab my clothes and walk back into the bathroom as he laughs. Allison: “Alright, I’m ready.” Klaus: “And you look lovely, sweetheart.” He approaches me, taking my hand and leading me out the door as one of his hybrids comes in, carrying our bags. We get in the car and back on the highway. Allison: “So, where to next, Klaus?” Klaus: “I was thinking Maine.” Allison: “Well, that’s a long way away.” Klaus: “Yup, we will be together the whole way.” Allison: “Will you please just tell me why you keep taking me everywhere? Why am I the only one you won’t harm?” Klaus: “I bet you are dying to know.” Allison: “Yeah, since you kidnapped me and won’t let me leave, I believe it is only fair you tell me why.” Klaus: "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Allison: "Can't really confirm that without telling me." We hold eye contact before he chuckles with that infuriatingly sexy smirk on his face. Klaus: “Alright, love, I'll tell you. I know you won't believe me when I tell you this, but you are my mate.” I laugh. Allison: “Yeah, okay, I know you’re messing with me. Mates are a fictional thing. There’s no such thing.” Klaus: “Well, you are wrong. I am telling you the truth, Allison. I am a werewolf, and werewolves do have mates. It’s just extremely rare to ever find them. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I would ever find you.” Allison: “How can I possibly be your mate? I’m not a werewolf.” Klaus: “That doesn’t matter. You are the only one I am destined to be with, and I will never purposely harm you.” Allison: “How are you even so sure I am your mate?” He pulls the car over and looks me in the eye. Klaus: “I had a witch do a spell. She was able to show me what you look like but couldn’t figure out your name or when I would meet you. Until I found you, I wasn’t sure I would ever meet you. My only regret is that I couldn’t find you sooner.” His confession has me in a daze. Allison: “So then, why hurt my friends?” Klaus: “A necessary evil, I’m afraid. Although I did try to restrain myself. That’s how I’ve always done things. I do apologize for scaring you. You have no idea how much I have been holding myself back since I met you.” Allison: “Well, I can imagine you have had a hard time all summer.” He chuckles. Klaus: “Oh yes, definitely when you were drunk. It was challenging to keep my hands to myself. Now that you know, I promise to win your heart soon.” Allison: “We shall see if you ever can.” Klaus: “I am willing to give you everything I have.” He tries to kiss me, but I turn my head, so he kisses my cheek instead, making him groan. Allison: “This honestly clears up a few questions I had.” He starts driving again. A few days later, we made it to Portland, Maine. He left me at the hotel with a couple of hybrids as bodyguards. He went off into the woods to make more hybrids. Luckily, he returned my phone, and I could contact my sister. She told me Tyler is sired to Klaus, and I told her about Klaus telling me I am his mate and how he has been trying to court me. She is worried about me and disgusted by Klaus. She thinks he is trying to manipulate me, but I feel he is telling the truth. She also tells me about her plans for homecoming. Klaus finally returns from the woods, and he looks delighted. Klaus: “Allison, get ready to leave. We are going back to Mystic Falls.” Allison: “Really?” Klaus: “Yes, love. We leave as soon as you’re ready.” Allison: “Okay, and why are you so happy?” Klaus: “Because Stefan called. Elena killed Mikael, and we are going to go celebrate.” He hugs me and kisses my cheek. He has been giving me small kisses and hugs, trying to get me used to him. I quickly pack my bag and leave with him. Along the way, we stop to do a little dress shopping, and I help him finalize his funeral celebration plans for when we arrive in Mystic Falls. Once we arrive, Klaus won’t let me leave his side, and we set up a party at Tyler’s house. He got a band for it and now has so many hybrids that I can’t keep track of them. I got dressed in one of the guestrooms, wearing a midnight blue knee-length satin dress with off-shoulder lace sleeves. As the party starts, Klaus grabs my arm, pulling my attention to him. Klaus: “Allison, I need you to stay inside or by my side all night.” Allison: “And why would I do that?” Klaus: “It’s just a precaution in case anything goes wrong, love.” Allison: “Well, I can take care of myself. I’m not some helpless little girl.” Klaus: “I know you’re not helpless, love. I just want to make sure you are safe.” He takes my hand and kisses it, making my heart skip a beat at his consideration for my safety. Klaus: “I’m going to go on stage to make a speech. Why don’t you go see your sister? I know you’ve been dying too.” I kiss his cheek, stunning him, before walking away. I find the refreshments and grab a beer before finally finding my sister. Allison: “Caroline!” Caroline: “Allison, oh my god!” We hug each other for the first time in forever and decide to go into a side room. Caroline: “I’m so happy to see you.” Allison: “Same. You have no idea what I have been going through for the last four months. Being away from Klaus’ side is a rarity for me.” Caroline: “I’m so sorry you have to go through all of this.” Allison: “Care, I did it to protect you, our parents, and friends. I didn’t want anyone to die.” Caroline: “I know. And I wish you didn’t feel like you had to go to protect us.” Allison: “He would only use you to get me with him if I hadn’t. There was no avoiding it. But I’m fine. He won’t let anything hurt me. I wish I could go back to planning events and hanging out with you.” We giggle and continue to chat for a bit before rejoining the party. I go to grab another beer and run into Klaus while I am there. Klaus: “Hello, love. How was your little catch-up with Caroline?” Allison: “It was great, I enjoyed it. It felt too short, but we agreed it’s a party, and we can wait until it’s over.” Klaus: “Fair enough. Join me for a game of beer pong?” Allison: “Honestly, not a question I thought I’d ever hear from you. Sure, why not?” We team up for a game of beer pong. Mindy(one of his hybrids) interrupts us a little bit into the game. Mindy: “You have a visitor.” Klaus: “Well, tell my visitor I’m on the brink of victory here.” Mindy: “He said his name is Mikael.” He freezes and gets frustrated but sighs and throws the ping pong ball into the last solo cup. Klaus: “Then we mustn't keep him waiting. Allison, love, please go upstairs to one of the bedrooms until I come get you.” Allison: “Seriously? No way. I need to find Caroline.” He sighs before turning to one of his hybrids. Klaus: “Daniel, take her upstairs and lock her in a room. Guard her with your life until I arrive.” Daniel nods before grabbing my arm and dragging me upstairs. Klaus gives me an apologetic look before leaving with Mindy. After Daniel locked me in this room, I banged on the door for a bit, but that didn’t do anything besides give me a sore hand. I looked out the window and saw the band playing while a bunch of drunk teenagers were dancing. It took about half an hour to an hour for Klaus to finally come get me. When he comes into the room, I ignore him. Klaus: “Love, we can leave now. Stefan killed Mikael right in front of me. He is gone forever.” Allison: “[Sarcasm]Good for you because that makes up for locking me in a room.” Klaus: “Come on, love. You were being stubborn, and I had to go. Caroline isn’t even here. Tyler got her out before Mikael showed up. I needed to keep you safe.” Allison: “Why didn’t you just tell me, like, ‘Hey, love, I need you safe. Don’t worry, Caroline isn’t here anymore.’ I wouldn’t have been as worried.” Klaus: “Love, you and I know that never would’ve worked. You’re stubborn when it comes to making sure your family is safe.” I sigh, knowing he’s right. Klaus: “Now that that’s over, I have a surprise for you.” Allison: “Oh, and what would that be?” Klaus: “I’m going to let you spend the night with your family, and tomorrow I will have another surprise for you.” Allison: “Are you serious?” Klaus: “Of course, love. I know I can’t win you over if I keep forcing you to do only what I want you to do. I promise I won’t make you do anything unless it is to keep you safe from harm.” Allison: “Thank you, Klaus. I really appreciate this.” I kiss his cheek. Klaus: “Just please let me take you there. I want to make sure you arrive safely.” Allison: “I can protect myself.” Klaus: "I know you can." I leave Tyler's house with Klaus, and he escorts me to my mom's house. When I walk in, she starts tearing up. Elizabeth: “Allison, you’re back.” Allison: “Yeah, Mom, I missed you.” She engulfs me in her embrace, which I happily return. Caroline comes downstairs to find Mom and I hugging and quickly runs up to me, joining the hug. Caroline: “Allison, how did you get away?” Allison: “I didn’t. Klaus is letting me spend the night with you. He knows I can’t be won over by force, so he’s loosening his hold on me now that Mikael is gone.” Caroline: “That’s great.” Elizabeth: “I wish you could stay longer than a single night.” Allison: “I do too, mom. But let’s just enjoy our night together.” We stayed up late, having a mother/daughter/daughter night.
