Chapter Fifteen: Fairy Village

1164 Words
Jezebeth’s P.O.V. Officer Natalie spoke to the leader of the fairy village while me and Ruth were completely mesmerized by the village. Fairy Villages were typically half underground for protection. We were underground and there were so many bright lights, pixies, trees and flowers. The fairies walked and flew around. The differences between fairies and pixies are their sizes while fairies are the size of people pixies are about the size of a dragonfly. They use the same kind of magic and fairies also use pixie dust to increase their own magic. Pixies go from place to place while most fairies stay in their village for most or all of their life. Fairies also live a few hundred years while pixies only live a few decades. I overheard a few fairies whispering to each other about us being outsiders. Usually no outsiders were allowed in the underground part of their village but we were an exception since we’re helping out protecting the village. Officer Natalie waved to us to join her and the leader of the fairy village. We greeted the leader and he greeted us. “Our protection spells aren’t working against the demon spirits anymore, we’re asking you to strengthen the protection barrier and also to get rid of the demons. We need you to get rid of the demons since we still have to leave for trade.” He explained. “Deal with them however you deem necessary.” Natalie nodded. “We’ll be able to complete this task with no trouble, thank you for calling on The Order.” I could see Ruth rolling her eyes and I couldn’t help but giggle a little. “Girls.” Natalie said so we’d act a little more professionally. We followed her toward the protection barrier. “What do we do first?” I asked. “We need to re enforce the previous protection spell cast on the village so when we’re getting rid of the demons they can’t get into the village.” She answered. Natalie first had to figure out what kind of protection spell was used so we could renew it. She told us what it was and we all started chanting. When we were done Ruth looked a little drained. Humans weren’t created with magic nor the intention of them using magic so they got worn out a lot more easily than a mage would. “Ruth here.” I grabbed an elixir out of my bag and handed it to her. “Thanks Jeze.” She drank it and gave the glass bottle back to me. “I didn’t even think to bring elixirs.” “Jezebeth is a great student.” Natalie complimented. I was mostly just thinking of Ruth when I was packing my bag. “Thanks, it’s good to be prepared…” I mumbled. “How are we planning on getting rid of the demons?” Natalie started walking up the hill more to the surface. “I’m going to leave that up to you two. This is the best way for you to learn.” Ruth looked at me. “You know how to deal with demons, what should we do?” “I can open a portal to no man's land in the demon realm. They can’t hurt anyone there and they’ll be able to roam freely. We just need to get them all together and get them through it.” I explained. “I’m a human psychic, they’ll probably just come to me because of my energy. All we have to do is put me out in the open where they’ll be able to sense me.” She suggested we use her as bait. Demons are attracted to human psychics. I was in the Order before Ruth so when she got here I kept finding myself drawn to her energy. I was too shy to say anything but a we met anyways when Red introduced us. “If they attack I know defensive magic.” I nodded. “When they all start coming to you I can direct them into the portals.” I suggested. I knew Ruth would be fine cause she's a good magic user and psychic. Natalie stopped walking. “Good plan, Ruth, you can stand under that tree. I already sense the energy of them coming closer. I’m going to help Jezebeth direct the spirits into the portal, we can each open our own.” While Ruth walked to the tree and sat with her back against it, me and Natalie each opened two portals into the demon realm’s no man’s land. I looked into the portal and felt homesick. It was a barren wasteland but I missed it. I looked around and saw a few demon spirits so I started whistling a tune that I found demon spirits really liked. They started coming to me instead of Ruth and they looked so adorable. They were demons of al different shapes, When they’d come to me I'd get them to go into the portal. My whistling wasn’t attracting all the demons so Ruth opened up her own portal and when they came to her she used her psychic abilities to persuade them to walk into her portal. I noticed Natalie was using her magic to forcefully get the demons into her portal. I was afraid she’d get more aggressive but we were almost done so I didn’t worry too much about it. Soon there were no more demon spirits in the area. “I wonder how all the demons got here in the first place.” Natalie shrugged. “I’m not sure but I’m going to scan the area.” While she did that me and Ruth started walking back to the village. “I guess Officer Natalie isn’t the kind of officer to kill if not necessary.” I said to Ruth. Ruth spoke but was hesitant. “She’s not but I’m sure others are.” Ruth wasn’t willing to give the order the benefit of the doubt or to give them a chance. I guess there’s no chance of us staying and I’m okay with that.. I think. When Natalie was done scanning the area for demon spirits we went to the leader of the village and reported back to him. He gave Natalie the reward and left the village. “Do we get any of that money?” Ruth asked. Natalie chuckled. “Yes, actually you do but not now. We have to turn in the money then at the end of every two week we get a percent of every job we do. We don’t get the whole thing because some of the money needs to keep the order well supplied.” “Interesting…” Ruth mumbled then turned to me. “If you want, I wouldn't mind doing this weekly.” I smiled. “I think we should.” Maybe I could convince Ruth of staying eventually or maybe we’ll leave and never look back. At least then I’ll now I wouldn’t have to worry about anyone taking her from me because it’d only be the two of us.
