CHAPTER 25 “Did you have a nice run?” Mom asked when Brad returned home. His thoughts were so chaotic he’d ended up walking most of the way back just to give himself the extra time to think. “Yeah,” he answered. “Fine.” “Your father’s in his den.” Mom didn’t say anything about their fight this morning, and Brad wasn’t going to be the one to bring it up. “Okay.” She poured him a cup of iced tea and held it out. “Thanks.” She studied him while he drank. “Is something wrong?” “Like what?” he asked.
