CHAPTER 24
“So how long after you broke up did he meet this other girl?” Susannah asked as they ate their ice cream sundaes under a little patio umbrella.
It had taken this long just to get the first part of the story out. Megan was surprised she’d shared so much already. Was the ice cream making her cold, or was there another reason her body kept shivering? She hoped Susannah didn’t notice.
“Well, I’m not entirely sure we were ever officially dating. It was one of those weird things. I mean, we talked about our relationship when we were still working in Vermont, and we both recognized there was definitely some kind of romantic interest, but since I was headed to Costa Rica, I didn’t think it was smart to pursue anything.”
Susannah nodded and rubbed her pregnant belly.
