“Wait a minute.” Scott’s eyes flashed with anger. “You’re talking about the same dude you spent that entire Christmas crying about?”
Susannah was in the bedroom, listening to Odyssey tapes with Kitty, and Megan hoped they couldn’t overhear. “That’s the one.”
“And he’s here in Orchard Grove?”
“Yeah. He told Susannah he was visiting his grandma.”
Scott shook his head. “Want me to go over and beat him up for you? I will, you know.”
Megan tried her best to match her brother’s smile. “No. I was just wondering if you knew anything about him.”
“I don’t, but Susannah probably does. She knows everybody here. You should ask her. But wait, should I assume that you still have feelings for him after how terribly he treated you?”
“It wasn’t all that bad.”
