Claiming His Luna
Chapter 6
Edith’s POV
A few minutes after Gwen left, the cell doors swung open. I shut my eyes waiting for what would happen next. True to her words, the guards began to take off the chains they had used to hold me down.
“This is your lucky day, huh?” One of them said as he gave me a once over, his eyes glinting with mischief. “I really wanted to have a taste of you too bad I couldn’t” he cooed, his breath tickling me as he moved closer. I pulled backward in irritation, trying to get away from his stinky breath.
“Hey, stop it!” Another guard yelled as he walked in on me and the sorry excuse of a guard. “Alpha Ballister had ordered not a single hair on her head be harmed” the guard warned. “I’d be careful with that one if I were you. Wouldn’t want to get into trouble because of her” he added.
“Aye,” he answered and returned his gaze to me. “Like I said, your lucky day” he sent a smirk my way and began to uncuff my hands. I winced at how roughly he had yanked on it before he had taken them out completely.
“Move it” he grunted, his hands pushing me to the front while he was behind me. I kept my eyes trained on the floor as I walked. Silently I began to move like I knew where I was heading to the show room and since the guard didn’t yell at me, I guess that was where I was meant to be.
I arrived at the middle, my eyes did a quick scan of the room before I returned it back to the floor. I caught sight of Gwen who looked every inch happy to be there and the smirk on her face told me she must have something up her sleeve.
“This is it, Alpha Jackson. I will be taking my leave now” Alpha Ballister nodded at Jackson and Gwen ran into her father’s arm who clutched her tightly to him whispering something into her ears.
After the long farewell between father and daughter, sister and brother, we were set for our journey.
Alpha Ballister didn’t say a word to me as we got into the car. The ride was mostly silent unless you count Gwen’s constant chatter that was met with a single grunt from Alpha Ballister. At first, I got irritated wondering why she was trying to have a conversation with him at all cost but when he didn’t pay her any attention I felt my sour mood lighten up.
Soon enough, we arrived at the Moon shade pack and I couldn’t help but be in awe of it. The pack house was huge. It loomed before us, its sheer size leaving me breathless. I thought the Blood Moon Pack house was big but it was child’s play compared to this. Intricate golden tracery adorned the gate, and the expanse of the white fence seemed to stretch far and beyond.
I couldn’t help but be in love with the majestic white hue radiating from the building. At the side was an ornate design of a wolf signifying it as a pack house. I couldn’t help but stand there mouth agape in awe. I guess that’s why he was the Alpha King of the Northern and Southern Wolfdom. Of course, he was going to outdo himself.
I stepped out of the car only to find Gwen was at the front already, taking the lead and I rolled my eyes. Why did she come with us again?
Approaching the door, a blur of blonde hair slammed into Alpha Ballister making my eyes widen in surprise. He chuckled, his hands gently resting on the blonde’s back while confusion marred my face. Who was she?
“I’ve missed you” the Blondie whispered, her voice filled with a mix of affection and fondness as she buried her nose into his chest and in response I felt something brewing inside of me and then a low growl involuntarily tore out of my lips.
Blondie pulled away and turned her attention toward me. Her eyes swept over me in a not-so impressed once over then her gaze shifted to Gwen a little bit impressed and then rested back on Alpha Ballister.
“Who is she?” Her voice dropped with iciness, a tone that I could easily detect. Alpha Ballister let out a weary sigh and pulled her along as they both entered inside. while we trailed behind.
As I stepped inside, a maid was already waiting. Alpha Ballister pointed at Gwen, “Show her to one of the spare rooms”
Gwen moved forward with eagerness while I watched her wondering what she was up to again, “Hi, I’m Gwen. It’s nice to meet…” She began to introduce but Alpha Ballister shot her a look of warning before she could finish which made her quickly scurried after the maid.
“B, you haven’t answered my question” Blondie called again with annoyance in her voice.
Alpha Ballister let out a frustrated sigh. “She’s my mate” he spat out as if the words burned him. I felt my heart clenched at his words but I remained silent.
Blondie threw her head back and fits of laughter escaped from her mouth. “You can do better” She stopped abruptly when she noticed the expression on Ballister’s face. The amusement drained from her features. “You can’t seriously mean that, right?” She questioned but was met with the same grave look from him.
She threw me one more hateful look then redirected her gaze back to him. “We need to talk”
The maid whom Alpha Ballister had instructed to show Gwen to her room returned and he nodded towards me without saying a word. “Please come with me” the maid whispered meekly. I didn’t need to know what they were going to say but I knew it was going to be about me.
Wasn’t it bad already that my mate, who was to be my number one comforter, was making me anything but comfortable?
“And this is your room. Please let me know if you need anything” the maid said and I nodded and she turned away then left.
I turned the doorknob and then stepped inside. My eyes flickered around and noted with pleasure. The room was a stark contrast compared to what I was given in the Blood pack when Jackson took over as the Alpha.
