Claiming His Luna
Chapter 7— I can’t Reject Her.
THIRD PERSON POV
“This is totally unacceptable. You should have rejected her!” Taylor yelled, her eyes widened in fury as she glared at her big brother. She refused to watch him go down that way. She refused to let him go the same way as their father. He was the only family she had left and she was going to protect him no matter what it took.
“You think I wanted that?!” Ballister yelled, his veins strained on his neck at his frustration. “It’s not like I walked into the Blood Moon Pack actively searching for a mate. It just happened!” He thundered. His anger was evident in his words.
“Well that’s simple then, you reject her. Reject her and send her ass back to where she came from” Taylor said, her eyes filled with hope as he confirmed to her that he had no interest in the poorly dressed and ugly-looking woman she had seen just moments ago.
“I can’t do that,” Ballister replied solemnly. Taylor’s eyes snapped up at him, surprise etched across her face. “What do you mean by that?” She questioned, her eyes seeking for clarification as she stared at him.
“I can’t reject her,” he stated simply. He couldn’t explain to her how much his wolf needed her even when he wanted nothing to do with her and if it meant keeping her close just to appease his wolf then he would.
“Why? It’s so simple. You just… Reject her!” She sounded flabbergasted as her words stumbled out of her mouth.
Ballister pulled her towards him, his gaze softened as he saw the amount of worry in her eyes. “I know you’re worried about me but I want you to trust me. I won’t let her have the same power over me that our mother had over our father, I won’t let her get that chance” he whispered.
Taylor sniffed and a tear slid down her cheeks as she stared at him dubiously uncertain why he had chosen to remain adamant on his decision instead of doing things the quicker way. “You are the only family I have left, B. I don’t want anything to happen to you. I- I can’t…” her voice choked up as a sob broke out from her throat.
“She has nowhere to go. if she returns to the Blood Moon Pack she’s either going to end up dead or else back to the cell—”
She pulled away from her brother's hug, her face displaying a look of surprise and desperation as she frowned as she hoped to hear what she heard was a mistake. “Why would she be taken to the cell?”
“Something about a missing jade. So I don't want her back where she might not live to see the next day” he shrugged continuing without realizing the frown that had settled on his sister's face.
“A thief. Isn’t this just getting interesting?” She scoffed, her tone laced with a bit of displeasure.
“Hey,” he chided. His eyes hardened at the choice of words his sister had used. He didn’t like it but he refused to admit it to himself and instead blamed it on his wolf.
“I don’t like this, B. I don’t like this one bit” she frowned.
“I know,” he responded, his voice filled with understanding. “I’m still figuring out what to do with her, but in the meantime, can you bear with me?” He shot one of his signature puppy looks that was meant for her alone. To her, he was the softest teddy bear anyone could wish for but to outsiders, he was the ruthless Alpha King of the southern and northern Wolfdom.
“Okay. I trust you” she mumbled her voice filled with resignation which brought a small smile to his face. Taylor shut her eyes, her mind a field of mixed emotions. She knew her brother wasn’t going to take the necessary measures, and with her hands wrapped around his waist she sobbed quietly against his chest, making a silent promise to herself to take matters into her own hands.

Edith’s POV
It’s been minutes but it seemed like hours since I got myself situated in the room I would now call mine. The door slammed open and Alpha Ballister walked in, his eyes cold and void of any emotion as he stared at me.
I quickly rose from the bed, my voice trembling slightly “Alpha Ballister”
“What was that stunt you played out there?” He fired, his anger palpable in the air. He walked further into the room, approaching me and I had no choice but to move backward. “What the f**k was that stunt you pulled out there, MATE?!” He spat, his voice laced with venom.
I clenched and unclenched my fist. He was my mate. I’m supposed to be his equal but here I was being treated as nothing more than I had been in the pack I once called my home.
“I had no control over it” I whispered, knowing he was referring to the possessive growl that had involuntarily burst out of my throat earlier.
“Under no circumstances should you let anyone find out that we are mates” he warned, his voice stern and I nodded. “Do you understand?” He growled.
“Yes. Yes, Alpha Ballister” I answered, forcing my voice to come out strong when inside I felt like a whimpering mess wanting to crumble to the floor at the point black rejection from my mate.
“Good.” He said coldly. “The moon goddess must have made some mistakes in pairing us together but that doesn’t change the fact that I bought you. You are now my slave and you will do everything that slaves do” I nodded vigorously. I couldn’t tell if I was just being too good at taking orders or if it was a way of trying to stop my heart which was twisting in a painful wrenching manner inside my chest.
“Good. You’re here to satisfy me and that’s the only thing I want from you. The pleasure of a mate.” His words left me feeling hollow, confirming Gwen's earlier statement back at home. He turned, heading to the door then paused. “Tomorrow, Iona will share some chores for you” and with that, he slammed the door and stepped out.
I slid to the floor, feeling my heart breaking into pieces when the door opened again. I didn’t bother to lift my head knowing more of his insulting words were going to follow.
“Hmm, what a great turn of event that is,”
