Ivi
In the morning I was ready on the field and excited about the upcoming training. I thought someone else would train us, but Alpha showed up just before we started. Seconds later, Emmet was dragged, literally, by a warrior. I moved to a place closer to him, I felt like a mother hen whose chick is coming out for the first time. As Gideon stopped his gaze on me as he scanned the lined wolves, I could clearly see him looking down at my body before continuing his gaze. So the son of a b***h can give me the eyes but I couldn't?
Minutes later, after apparently pleased with the view, Gideon stood in front with Tessa and Pears on both sides. We were about 10 werewolves, so it wasn't hard for anyone to hear or see them. Loren has told me that there will be a group of 10 werewolves every three hours. The training lasted two hours and there was a break of one hour between two training sessions. So we could train in small groups and the trainers could rest between them.
"Pack members, and guests," He deliberately looked at me and Emmet, when said 'and guests' and the others began to sneer, looking at us, "The current situation requires additional security measures, and these measures include providing good protection for each of you. Personal security is first and foremost the concern and priority of every werewolf himself. Of course, as a pack, we take care of each other and fight to ensure the comfort of living in a safe environment. But each of you must be able to take care of yourself."
Gideon paused and looked at our faces one by one before continuing. "I expect each of you to be right here, in this place, at exactly 9:00 in the morning, absolutely every day. I expect you to be here voluntarily and without the assistance of my warriors." He looked meaningfully at Emmet and continued, "You will train in both human and wolf form. It's important to be strong enough, no matter in what form you're to defend yourself. The wolf training will be held in a special place in the forest by one of my best warriors, Tessa. And the training in human form will be led by Pears. Consider them as my substitutes. You do what they ask. Without questions. Every morning you'll be gathering here, no matter what kind of train you'll have. Got it? Make me proud."
I straightened up with a silly happy smile on my face, I was that excited. When Gideon was leaving, he looked at me for a moment and our eyes locked.
My smile faded and we kept looking at each other while he was walking. He finally cut off contact, frowning, and turned his head forward.
"Ok, guys, listen carefully. You will be training with Pears today. And tomorrow you will be training with me. Do your best, because both Pears and I are known for our steadfastness and tenacity as leaders. We won't take it easy with any of you! Push yourself harder and then even harder. The best trainees may be promoted in positions that are inaccessible to ordinary wolves and especially to new members. Your excellent performance here is the shortest way to the top. Don't forget it." Tessa's strong voice sounded again and irritated me. But although I really didn't like her, she seemed to be a good leader. I knew she was one of the best warriors, given the fact she was part of Gideon's personal team of warriors. They were the best physically but more importantly, they were his most trustful subordinates.
In the beginning, Pears made us do ordinary things. We, werewolves, were generally in a good shape because of our wolves and the runs we do. But there was always a place for improvement. Besides, If you rely only on genetics, anyone who has tried to improve their shape will be better than you. He made us run to see how fast and durable we ran.
Emmet looked nervous as if something terrible was going to happen at any moment.
"Relax." We did push-ups, then moved along an obstacle course. In the end, we had to go on the track again, only carrying different weights on our backs.
"Guys, so far, so good. I don't see anyone fall back. Congratulations, your first training session is over. Next time we're going to be fighting with each other. I want to see your best techniques. See you next time!" Pears winked at me and walked away.
When I turned to Emmet, he was pale again. "What now?"
"I don't want to fight anyone."
"You'll have to. You want to stay in this pack, right?" I waited for him to confirm and then continued, "Then make an effort."
I went home to shower and when I threw my phone on the bed and went to the bathroom, I stopped in the doorway and turned to pick it up again. I dialed The Darkmoon pack's office room.
"Yes? Alpha Mason speaking?"
"Mason."
"Ivi? What is it?"
"Everything's fine. Gideon gave me permission to start to work. How are you guys?"
"I know you have a job. Are you happy now?"
"I feel guilty, I just wanted to ask you for the last time. Do you need my help? Do you need me to come back? Because I'll If you do."
"No Ivi, It's pretty busy around here but we'll manage. Just take care of yourself, ok?"
"Yes, but I miss you so much"
"You can come back any time, you know that."
"Yes, I know." I whispered.
"Ivi?"
"I miss mum and dad, Mason."
He sighed.
"I know. I miss them too. Look, I'll do my best to come to see you as soon as I can. But I need to hang up now. Are you alright?"
"Yeah, don't worry, go!"
We hung up and my tears flowed. I missed them so much... I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.
"If only I knew what and where I wanted to be..."
