Ivi
The next day we were all on time. I guess Tessa wasn't one to mess with and nobody wanted to piss her off. Pears was more easygoing, although when it came to training, he looked like another male.
After a short introductory speech, Tessa ordered us to turn in our wolf forms and we did so. Then all of us went to the lawn where the training will be taking place and turned back in our human forms.
"All we're going to do is fight. You're already giving your wolves time to run so we're not going to lose time doing that. And when I say we're going to fight, I mean it. You should put all your strength in, otherwise, it is not going to take you anywhere. The point is to push our limits, that's the only way for us to grow as fighters. And it's going to be messy, dirty, and painful. Embrace it!"
Hell yeah.
Easy Emery.
Just watch. I rolled my eyes at her confidence, though in fact, I could barely contain my smile. I liked her aspiration. Emmet of course looked like he had seen a ghost.
"I don't want you to hold down. Fight like there is a real enemy against you. You'll be splitting up into pairs. That would make it hard for you to know your opponent's style. I'll fight with you from time to time but mostly I'll watch over you. Now, if you don't have any questions, turn in your wolves again."
Please, Emmery, behave.
I turned in my wolf form and we started pacing around.
Tessa divided us into pairs before she took on her wolf form herself. Without any warnings, the fights started. We were paired with a she-wolf who came a couple of days before. Her name was Tanya and she had a very bad temper. They still needed to work with her in order to make her suitable for living in the pack. Her wolf was a yellowish one and quite small. I was Alpha, so Emery was a big wolf. I guess the life Tanya led as a rogue had its say and her wolf was even skinnier.
She started to circle us, baring her teeth and growling. And then she started trying to reach Emery and bite her, pulling back almost immediately. Emery kept an eye on her and stunned Tanya's wolf with the first swipe. Her strong and sharp nails left a trail of blood on the snout of Tanya's wolf. The yellowish wolf fell to the ground and lay for an unusually long time. The next second Tessa's wolf came to us and she mind-linked me.
She can't move. Leave her alone for now. Stay and watch from the side.
Emery was disappointed, but we obeyed.
Tanya's wolf was breathing heavily and I wondered why the Hell they let her fight in the first place when she was in such bad condition.
Tanya's condition turned out to be pretty bad and we all stopped with training, waiting for a Healer to come. At some point Tessa dismissed us and Tanya was left with only her and two warriors.
Emmet looked relieved, and as we walked to the dining room at the pack house, he even smiled.
"It's your lucky day, but we're just getting started," I said and to my surprise, he returned the joke.
"Be careful what you wish for because you may be surprised."
We entered the Hall and Loren pointed for me to go to her. Alpha and his closest ones were always eating together. They had their own table. Like we were at school and they were the most popular ones. Today Loren was having lunch alone though and I sat down next to her.
"What happened today? I just have been told your training has stopped because of a she-wolf's condition."
"It's Tanya. The skinny one, that you took a couple of days ago. She's too weak."
Loren didn't stop eating although she was listening with grim eyes.
"Stupid. Gideon forbade her to participate, but the stupid little wolf insisted that she would manage, that she was feeling well, and that it was not fair to deprive her of this opportunity."
"Well, I hope she'll be fine. I have two scheduled visits with Jixen and Myra and then I'm free. Are you available? You've been so busy lately."
Loren took a chicken leg from her plate and gnawed the little meat on it. Then she wiped her mouth and hands with a napkin, and after finally swallowing and drinking water, she answered.
"We have a lot of work. The messengers brought bad news and we are under steam, but I will try to come for a while."
"Ok."
"Are you calm now? Do you still have doubts?"
I looked at her guiltily and she shook her head. "You need a mate."
"Nope, I need a male. I haven't been with anyone since I returned back home."
Only now did I notice the shadow and turn to see who it belonged to. Gideon stood behind me, staring silently into my eyes. I blushed when I realized he must have heard my last words. Without taking his eyes off me, he spoke to Loren.
"I'll need you for the rest of the day. You can leave earlier tomorrow." He finally broke eye contact to look toward her.
"Ok, but you owe me, Alpha. I already had plans."
A few more minutes and Loren was off to Gideon's office and I went to see Jixen and Myra.
The two of them were mates but not destined ones. The reason they became rogues was that Myra already had met her destined mate but he was awful. Jixen was a friend of her and when he found out she'll be mated to her destined mate who was an abuser, he finally realized he loves her. The two ran away and now they were here.
I've requested a house for them but it wasn't easy to get one. Right now all the new werewolves who were accepted to the pack must live in the pack house. Sometimes even in rooms for more than two wolves. I guess I got mine thanks to Mason. Gideon could say as much as he wanted that it didn't matter that I was his sister, but his actions said otherwise. Anyway, I was grateful and I would feel good only when I managed to provide a good place for each of my assigned pack members.
While I was walking to their room to see them, Loren mind-linked me.
Stay at the pack house, Ivi. There's been a breakthrough again.
