Ivi
I looked at her with tears in my eyes, unable to believe she was here. I hadn't seen them in weeks. When I noticed that she was carrying my nephews in her arms, I gathered myself and wiped my eyes with my hand. I approached and just as I reached her I stopped and blushed, realizing my complete nakedness.
Her face showed understanding and support even without her smiling. Everything was in her eyes. Ever since the last attack of Zyier and Scarlett, she didn't seem to be herself. She looked changed. It was as if she had grown up prematurely. Her eyes looked like the eyes of an old lady.
And they were constantly worried.
"Do you need help with them?" My voice trembled a little and she nodded.
"I'm good. I'll wait for you inside."
She smiled gently and I smiled back before I ran into the closest building.
"Dev, I need help. Please bring me a pair of clothes to the tool shed at the headquarters."
I mind-linked my good friend Devina because she was the same size as me. Dev was a Delta she-wolf. Her mother was a pack doctor, her father a commander.
"Okay, hope it'd fit."
She didn't question my nakedness but laughed when she saw me. When I put the clothes on, I ran to the pack house to find Violet. She was sitting in the launch room, her pups calmly sleeping next to her. I sat as closed as I could and stared at them lovingly.
"So sweet. I can't wait for them to wake up." Violet laughed but shook her head.
"Please, I need a break."
"Yeah. Of course." I smiled broadly. "So how are you guys? I'm really happy to see you! Why didn't you tell me you're coming?"
"I wasn't planning on it. I just felt an urge to see you." She looked at me with worried eyes and I averted mine. "So, what was that outside? Aren't you getting along with Gideon?"
I frowned. "It's not easy, you know." And then I whispered, "He's awful."
Her lips twitched but she was smart enough to control herself.
"Why were you naked?"
"Is it that weird? I may have been away for a long time, but I remember it was considered normal..."
"Ivi, it's really a normal thing. But it's not that common nowadays. I haven't seen a naked werewolf in broad daylight without a special occasion. Mason also has a rule for that. No one will pay attention to your nudity when it comes to a battle or another special occasion. But everyone tries to keep their clothes around when they go for a run."
"That's sad. We're werewolves. We should embrace our freedom in any way. And not put stupid rules."
This time she lost the battle and her lips turn in a smile.
"I agree. But Ivi, If you really don't like Gideon, why don't you return to the Darkmoon pack?"
I started shaking my head before she finished. "No. No, no, no... No."
She chuckled. "Ok…"
"I love my brothers, Vi, but they're too much to handle. I know what I'm talking about. They were controlling when we were kids. I could only imagine what would be now."
"But it could be for a little while. You could find your destined mate soon and…"
"And if it's not soon? If he's dead and I never find him? If my second chance mate is also dead?"
"That's…a lot of bad thoughts in your mind."
"I don't want to rely on a mate."
"What do you want?"
"I want… Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm confused, Violet. When my dad called me and I found out I could return to my life as a werewolf, I was pretty excited. But now… I don't know what I want… Where I want it or even with whom. I feel kind of lost…"
The conversation became quite depressing, but I've been dying to be able to share my problem with someone. The last couple of days I kept thinking about what I wanted my life to be. And the answer was...a white sheet. I didn't know what I wanted. I don't know if the problem was that I lived with people for so long, but I had no idea what I wanted to do here. The bad thing was that I didn't want to go back among the people either.
Every time I tried to share my problem with Loren or another of my friends here, they would wave with a hand dismissively, saying it was normal and I would find my place soon.
But what If I don't?
I jumped into place when I felt her hand caress my face as if trying to smooth out my wrinkles of anxiety. I took a deep breath and told myself that the rest of her visit would be more enjoyable.
When Bryan woke up with a roar, I quickly got up and took him in my arms.
"Hi, sweety! Where is my cute little pup?" He calmed down and I kept talking to him when I felt movement behind me.
"Violet, how are you? Is Mason here too?"
"Hi! No, I'm alone. Well, my new Gamma is waiting for me somewhere outside. Thanks for the recommendation, by the way."
"I'm happy to be of help." I snorted and they both looked at me.
Gideon looked annoyed but he kept talking only to Vi.
"Violet, can we talk for a minute? In private?"
She looked at me and the pup in my hands and when I nodded reassuringly, she turned to him.
"Sure."
Violet grabbed Leah and took her to Gideon's office and I was left with Bryan to wonder If their conversation would be related to me.
Loren came into the room, looking at me with serious eyes. "Have you done something else since the last scene outside?"
"No. Why?" My eyes got worried, waiting for her answer. I haven't seen her being that serious.
"Then why did the Principal call your mum inside his office?" She grinned.
"Funny." I looked at the closed door. The office was next to the launch room. "Do you really think he called her in to complain about me?" She grinned even more. "Most definitely."
My sad eyes looked at the pup. "Maybe I should go back to the Darkmoon pack?"
Her grin disappeared.
"Don't say that. You shouldn't give up, babydoll. Good things take time. This is your home. I can tell for sure."
I frowned in disbelief.
"Believe me. You're perfect for each other..." "What?" I looked at her confused.
"What?" Her face went blank. "You're perfect for this pack."
We stopped talking because the office door opened and a rather frowning Gideon came out, looking around, and when he found my eyes, he muttered. "You can stay for now."
