Ivi
I wasn't sure if I was happy with his decision, given that it didn't completely solve my problem. What did 'for now' mean? That he will continue to postpone the acceptance ceremony? That he would leave me here for another week?
And what could Violet have told him to convince him? I wanted to be angry that she had to intervene, but what would I do if he had insisted that I return to my pack today?
Honestly, I would do whatever he wanted, if only I could get this burden off my shoulders and focus on finding out what I want to do with my life.
Violet left soon after. I was able to enjoy Leah too and Violet promised to come again soon. Her new Gamma Nick was a gorgeous male. Exactly my type. I blushed a few times as Violet introduced us because I was sure my thoughts were written on my face.
That's exactly what I needed. Company. s*x. Someone to distract me from the problems even for a while. I was sure I could easily find one. But it turned out that Gideon decided to play the role of an older brother and had warned the males that I was forbidden.
Emery was a little angry with me for what she thought was inappropriate behavior. According to her, I did nothing but shame myself while she thought we will be more successful if we just impose our will. She kept forgetting we're talking for the Alpha here.
We're Alpha too. I rolled my eyes and she growled irritably. If you don't show more confidence and self-esteem, they won't take us seriously. And like that's not enough, but that Riven doesn't stop pretending to be more important than he is.
She disliked Gideon's wolf as much as I disliked Gideon himself.
Maybe I should try another approach. So far I've tried to beg him, to lecture him, even to intimidate him. Maybe I should have offered him something in return... Emery's ears perked and I could feel her getting cautious.
Good lord, relax! I'm not talking about anything s****l. She relaxed and I kept thinking about my options. What was I good at? When I was among the people, I worked as a Project Coordinator. I had a Business degree. Maybe I can offer him free help? If he'd only let me show him I could be a good fit into his pack…
In the evening, during our run, I deliberately went out of my usual way in search of Riven.
I didn't want to waste any more time, and I didn't want to be an obstacle for the male who helped my family so much. Loren reluctantly told me where I could find him, and we soon caught track of him. When I reached the place where Riven was resting, I used the cover of the trees to turn in my human form and to put on the clothes that Emery was carrying in her mouth.
As I approached, he also took on his human form, and his nakedness made my mouth dry. I couldn't deny that he was a handsome son of a b***h. His body was perfectly built and I couldn't stop looking at his abs. My gaze just began to go down and the jeans he started to put on obscured the most interesting part of him. My gaze quickly returned to his, and I didn't realize I was involuntarily licking my lips. His eyes dropped then he looked me in the eye again.
We looked at each other in silence for a while, and finally, I was the first to speak.
"I'm sorry." He raised one brow but remained silent. "You helped so much to Mason and you keep on doing it... And you help me, although you don't like me. I know you hinted to your brother that I may be your second chance mate just to save us and although I know you did it mainly because of my brother, I appreciate the lie. You don't look like someone who can easily say a lie."
His features relaxed a little more, and he ran a tired hand through his hair. "I appreciate your words, Ivi."
"Alpha...is there really no way for me to stay here? No way? Under no circumstances?" My eyes stared with sad curiosity. This time I wasn't begging, I was just asking a question. As the silence dragged on, I took the opportunity to finish my speech. "I like your pack. I like your Beta. I like what you managed to do with this place. I like the atmosphere and your pack members. And although it would be an exaggeration to say that I like you, I can say that I respect you. And this is even more important. Did you have a better reason for an ordinary werewolf to be accepted into your pack? "
He looked at me intently for a long time, and finally, I knew in his eyes that he had made a decision. He began to speak with serious eyes and tone.
"It would happen on my rules. You will stay here indefinitely until you earn your place in my pack or until you lose the desire to be a part of it. And before you ask why I take rogues without testing them - you want to change your pack for no good reason, and even though I know you're loyal to your family, I want to make sure you take your change of homes seriously."
Fair enough.
"But Ivi, I don't want you around me. I don't want you questioning me. I want to be able to forget about your existence here. I'll keep track of what you're doing, but your communication with me is over. You're not Mason's sister anymore. You're a she-wolf who wants to be a part of my pack. Not more, not less."
I wanted to dance from joy, but his serious eyes kept me fixed on my place.
"Thank you, Alpha!" I said excitedly, "You won't regret it! I won't bother you at all." I smiled happily but then a thought occurred in my mind. "I just want to clarify one more thing. I need to work. My savings are running out. Is there any way I can work on something while I'm on this probation?"
"There's someone to clarify these things with, Ivi. Yes, I allow you to work. Now I want to finish my run."
I nodded with a smile and turned around but I hadn't taken even two steps when his voice stopped me and I turned around.
"And Ivi? One more rule. I don't want to see that look in your eyes when it comes to me again."
