The Father's Choice

Act 6 Scene 1

(It's night in Daddy's house. Iyawo shouts in pain and she wakes daddy from sleep)

Daddy:

(Jumps up quickly and holds Iyawo) Oh! Sorry dear. I think it is time to labour. Let me take my car key and take you to the hospital.

Iyawo:

(Groans in pain) Hmm! Ah! Daddy, it's painful. I want to drink water, am thirsty.

Daddy:

Sorry dear, but you know you can't drink water now. Let's get to the hospital first.

Iyawo:

Daddy:

Let me go and get the baby's bag. Where is even this woman. (calls Mama Yemisi) Mama Yemisi!

Mama Yemisi:

Daddy:

Sorry dear, here is the bag. (He carries the bag on his shoulder has he runs out to get the car ready as Mama Yemisi is assisting Iyawo in lifting her legs. But daddy discovered that the car has refused to work)

Daddy:

(starts the car) Oh! Not tonight, you this car, don't do this to me. Where do I get a cab by his time of the day.

(He tries everything he can do till Iyawo and Mama Yemisi gets down. Hoping the car is ready. But Mama Yemisi saw that there was a problem with the car)

Mama Yemisi:

My husband, what is the problem?

Daddy:

Mama Yemisi, this car has refuse to work.

Mama Yemisi:

Ah! This is bad! What are we going to do? And there is no cab by this time.

Daddy:

I don't know what to do. (Frustrated)

Iyawo:

(Groans in pain) Ah! Am dead!

Mama Yemisi:

Sorry my wife. Let me try and wake our neighbor if he can lend us his car.

Daddy:

Mama Yemisi:

Okay. (Runs to their neighbor and comes out with their car)

Daddy:

(Happy) Thank God. (Runs to the car as Mama Yemisi comes out of the car so that he can drive and she went to assist Iyawo into the car and they went drove to the hospital).
