Act 1. Scene 1.
(Daddy Yemisi, Mummy Yemisi, and Mama are having a serious discussion in their well arranged sitting room) Mama: (To Mama Yemisi) You this woman, you have failed to give my son a heir to carry on the family name and inherit all his farm lands. You have failed as a wife and must make room for another woman Mama Yemisi: (Turn to Mama) Mama, I remember clearly the promises you made to me when your son asked for my hand in marriage. You promised to stand by me no matter the condition. You promised to be the mother I didn't grow up to enjoy. See what you are doing to me Mama, you have forgotten that it is God that gives children. Mama, please give me more time and I will give birth to a son. Mama: Listen to her, do you want to give birth to a whole village before you know there is no male child in your womb? I have told you, my son's new wife is moving in this weekend. Don't make trouble with her. (Mama leaves angrily) Mama Yemisi: (Turns to her husband) Daddy, is this how you want to do it? You brought your mother to insult me and tell me that you are bringing in a new wife. Is that fair? My husband, am asking you, is this fair? Daddy: This is not a matter of fairness. Mama Yemisi, I need a male child. I am not waiting for another year to get one. I am bringing in a new wife. Please accept her and make her feel at home. I will not take things likely with you if you make trouble with her. Mama Yemisi: (To herself) My creator, are you watching from above? Do you see what they are doing to me? Why are you not doing anything about it? I have no one but you. Don't allow them to send me away from my husband's house. Please help me Lord. (She weeps as she walk to her room). Light out..
