Elijah:
As Markus placed her on the bed I felt like a dumb ass, but Edith had given us no choice. She said Sammy always got sentimental towards the end and if they were to ever be free she needed Sammy far away from the battle. I couldn't agree more.
I can't lie. Edith scares the s**t out of me. There's a special kind of anger in her. One that she's probably not even aware of. Wolves like her take more than they should. They outcast themselves from packs for a reason. Those with high ranks like alpha especially.
I sealed my mate in our cellar with most of the women and their pups. As I made my way outside again, the majority of our wolves had shifted. The only ones in their human skin were Edith and Isaac.
Shots are being fired. Slashed bodies dropping left and right. The two of them working side by side was an amazing view. Just like alpha and beta at the front lines of a war.
They're shouting coordinates at one another watching each other's backs. It was hard to look away from them. I had never witnessed anything so spectacular before. There is grace in the way they move. In each carefully calculated step. He wasn't lying the first time I met him. He's a killer. There is no other word or title worthy of either of them now.
I shifted looking for Dominic. He's tearing into some vampire flesh. One of them jump for him. I lunged forward sinking my canines into the thing easily deposing of it.
Dominic looked at me and bowed his head in thanks. We both began to fight a battle for the freedom of our mates. A battle that hopefully defines our life for the better. He deserves to be happy. Even if his happiness is with the monster his mate is.
