Edith:
The safest place for me to be is near him. After I got what I needed I got a place near his pack in Washington. He's not a bad leader. He can use some improvement but some would say he was great. Not me, I'd say he's mediocre.
"Is there and Amnity Alphred?" the hostess up front shouted.
It caught my attention. It's been a long time since I've had to listen for code. If I wasn't really paying attention, I would have missed it. My instincts are on high alert. Any sign of him and I want to be as far from him as I can be without actually leaving. I want to keep my eyes on his pack. I stood up and walked towards the hostess who smiled at me expectantly before handing me the phone.
"Alpha 00187," I answered low in case someone was standing too close.
"What are you doing so close to the beach? Feeling homesick?" Sam's familiar voice teased.
"Staying out of trouble what do you want?" I asked looking around.
"Mother is out in Royal business with the Fanger. I'm allowed off base so I'm at your apartment. Come up and you can tell me about alpha Dominic and if he has any cute friends," I smiled, of course, she would know where I am while this i***t who thinks he can claim me continues his manhunt.
"Hungry?"
"Yes, I want what your having it looks really good,"
"I'll see you in a few,"
"Alright hurry, hurry," I rolled my eyes. The woman walked over to me again and smiled.
"Are you finished?" she asked. I nodded handing her the phone.
"May I order some extra food to go?" she nodded.
~
"I want to see him. He may have been your f**k buddy but he was my best friend and if this crap about mates is true I want to meet his and give her props for challenging you," I sighed knowing that it was her final decision. Sometimes, it feels like I'm talking to a wall.
"How did you get here?" I asked.
"Abby brought me," Abby is our helicopter specialist reason number one why I hate cities you never know what falls out of the helicopters.
"We can take my bike," I said throwing her one of my new leather jackets. She put it on and grabbed my other helmet.
"This is going to be fun," she smiled tapping the top of my helmet.
I think I did miss her. Maybe it's because it's the first time I've interacted with someone I didn't have to use hostility with. Maybe it's because she's familiar. Whatever it is, it feels good to have her this close. It clarifies the urge to run to him a little. Sam can keep me grounded while she's here.
Dominic:
I was running for dear life. After two weeks of no trails or leads on my mate, she shows up with her sister at Elijah's only to find that the girl she has with her is his mate. He hadn't told her he told me but if Samaritan is as clingy as Elijah says she is, well he didn't exactly say clingy, Edith isn't going anywhere any time soon. I came to a clearing a few feet away from his pack house and got dressed.
My mate. My girl is inside that building. My wolf and I both extremely excited to see her and have her in our arms again. I honestly don't care what she is what matters is that she is in fact mine.
"I felt you coming," her voice sounded behind me. My heart started racing. I turned to look at her. I still hadn't put on my shirt. I love the way she's openly staring at my bare chest.
"I didn't feel you close by," I said.
"Perks of the CF64," she smirked. Her voice nothing like that night. It's cold now just like her predatory eyes.
"Are you done running?" she came up to me placing her hands on my chest sending chills down my spine. Making goose bumps rise all over my body.
"When she surfaces she takes control denying us what we want. It is why she must be kept at bay," she whispered in my ear.
"She's a part of you. You are a part of her. You're supposed to protect her and guide her not the other way around,"
"Are you saying you don't want me but her, you do?" I grabbed her and pulled her into me.
"You are her. I want you but not just this part. I want it all," she smiled but it wasn't friendly.
"Silver chains and a silver cage. No matter what I say to you, you don't release me. Not until you're sure it's her," she said and pressed her lips to mine. Even her body temperature was cold. "That's the only way. She doesn't deserve this. In four months you and Elijah should be ready to go to war with Mother,"
"What?" I asked.
"Have you ever loved something so much, you'd give your soul up to save them?" she asked pulling away. "Edith never even questioned the morality of what she was doing. She thought she had a choice. She was wrong. Those leeches never gave her a choice. They manipulated her into thinking she was doing this voluntarily but the truth is she had to. That little girl in there is innocent.
"There isn't a single thing in the world, Edith wouldn't do to make sure she lives the life she deserves. Sisters are troublesome like that,"
"Do you not consider her your sister?" I asked.
"We were born of the same mother. But we aren't daughters of the same father. It's obvious since she's mated to another and not to us. Don't tell her. Edith will cross that bridge when the time comes. For now, remember what I've told you. No matter what I say, don't let me go until you're sure it's her,"
"I don't know if I can do that," I whispered. She smiled.
"I'm not giving you a choice," she stared at me for an instant before her eyes went completely blank. I reached for her when her body went limp. "Hey,"
I shook her a bit hoping she'd wake up. I lifted her up and rushed into Elijah's house. He had his medic on her immediately. The girl who I'm guessing is her sister came over to us and sighed looking right at me.
"We need to lock her up. We have to get her clean. It's not going to be easy," she looked back at Elijah's beta.
"f**k, not this s**t again," he sighed.
